  • No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no!

  • Okay.

  • No, no, no, no, no, no!

  • In five minutes, the polls close across most of Texas, but voters are going to be casting ballots for a while longer.

  • Tonight there's a live look from HD Chopper is showing people still in line in the Collin County Courthouse in McKinney.

  • Good evening, and welcome to W F A special election night coverage of Super Tuesday.

  • We'll bring your results throughout the evening here on Facebook, our YouTube channel and a w FAA dot com.

  • And we want to hear from you tonight as well.

  • We have a team of people answering your questions or comments your concerns.

  • You are sharing with us to talk to us.

  • Comment inside this stream here.

  • Or you can tweet us using the hashtag vote Texas Tonight we have reporters all across the state on the big races, and periodically we're going to break away from this live stream to update our broadcast audiences.

  • So bear with us as we do that.

  • But first, let's get a lay of the land of what All we're doing tonight and already just a few minutes before polls close in Texas.

  • We're already seeing some results from the East Coast, where some of the other 14 states and Super Tuesday have already started calling.

  • The race is over there.

  • They have a big night for Joe Biden.

  • Early on, Yes, the night is under way.

  • Texas is gonna have its turn here in just a couple of minutes.

  • We'll be getting those early totals in Jason.

  • But as you see, we're already getting some coloring in on the map tonight.

  • Vermont has already been called.

  • This is no shocker at all for Senator Bernie Sanders.

  • That is, of course, his home state, Virginia, has been called for.

  • Vice President Joe Biden on ESO has North Carolina now this North Carolina Attn.

  • This point is just a projection.

  • I don't think they actually have any of the vote in there just yet, But what they're going on there is the exit polling coming out of that.

  • Actually, they do have some now being reported their 35% to 23% for Bernie Sanders.

  • Interesting thing is here as we look at the projections, when we scroll over these different states here, you're going to see numbers pop up that show Sanders 28 point margin we got under Virginia Joe Biden, 32 point margin, North Carolina and 11 point margin, at least in Virginia, anyway, uh, Joe Biden is way out performing what we have been seeing in the polling.

  • We've been seeing polls saying that he would do less than that in Virginia by 20 or by 15 points.

  • We're looking at a 30 point spread that they're projecting here early on.

  • So he's out warming that already.

  • Bernie Sanders, on the other hand, in Vermont, there in his home state, pulling less of the vote than they thought he was going to pull tonight in the most recent polling.

  • So kind of an interesting dynamic right out of the gates, as you know, Jason, because you were out there.

  • Joe Biden picking up a lot of momentum here in Dallas last night with these other candidates endorsing the past 24 hours have been huge for Biden arguably going into this.

  • Bernie Sanders is probably the front runner after tonight.

  • Who knows what's gonna happen with the race, but let's take a closer look here at Vermont.

  • Jason was talking about Bernie Sanders leading here 52% of the vote.

  • This is only with 9% reporting Joe Biden with 23%.

  • Again, that's not Yeah, And that's not a big hall.

  • Even if he does get that.

  • We're talking about 16 delegates there.

  • We have more than 1300 delegates up for grabs tonight.

  • So, Vermont, you know any of these candidates are gonna put anything in their pocket that they can tonight.

  • But we're talking about 13 delegates are 16 delegates.

  • There, there, there.

  • Virginia is a huge prize.

  • That's 99 delegates s O.

  • That is substantial.

  • If Joe Biden can actually pull that off tonight and again, it's projected that he will North Carolina 110 delegates.

  • So that's rich as well.

  • Eso This would be a big haul for Joe Biden and start the night.

  • Biden can start with those two.

  • Definitely.

  • Here.

  • This is the Virginia.

  • Virginia returns here.

  • This is 60% reporting.

  • Keep in mind the polls closed there an hour ago.

  • Joe Biden, 55% Bernie Sanders, 23%.

  • Those are huge numbers here.

  • As you said, if he can maintain that, he can sustain this.

  • You know in the States where he did well just know in South Carolina last weekend, then this could be a huge night and could change the whole makeup of the race.

  • We should also note here that Alabama is a little bit slow with us right now because their polls closed earlier tonight at the same time that some of these others did it six o'clock our time.

  • We still haven't seen anything pop up there in Alabama.

  • Don't know what's happening.

  • A SZ Far as that goes, that would be another 52 delegates.

  • Joe Biden in the polling has shown ah lot of strength there in the recent day.

  • So we're going to see this sort of march across again.

  • We're gonna begin in these numbers the early vote here in Texas in the next couple of minutes, that should start to populate.

  • And we will be pulling that up through here on taking you County by county will also be comparing how the numbers compared to years past, because we've had quite a turnout, especially in some of these large metro area.

  • And you talked about how the map was gonna march across and I keep in mind, too.

  • You know, Bite is doing well in the East Coast.

  • A lot of people thought he might.

  • He was pulling well there.

  • Bernie Sanders is projected to probably win care of California, Even though we're a little ways from that, the question is how wise.

  • How spread?

  • How wide is that spread going to be?

  • You actually sent this over to me earlier today, and this is really interesting.

  • Look at this California Democratic primary right now.

  • Real clear politics.

  • It puts together all of these different polls.

  • They're favoring Sanders by about seven points.

  • Let's just go back to yesterday.

  • Here.

  • Sanders was favored in California by 19 points, a 12 point difference just in one day.

  • And what happened 24 hours ago?

  • Right here in Dallas, lot Democrats consolidate around Joe Biden.

  • Let's go over here to the other part of our studio.

  • We have experts from across North Texas here with us to help us digest and get some context and perspective on this right here.

  • Burning Steptoe, the political producer, W F a A.

  • Bud Kennedy from the Fort Worth Star Telegram.

  • Alana Rocha is from the Texas Tribune, or partners down in Austin and Kimmy.

  • Linking is from you and t helping this kind of make sense of this.

  • It's 701 right now.

  • Some results should be coming in.

  • But let's talk about we're seeing on the East Coast and Kimmel Kimmel in.

  • We'll start with you.

  • You surprised it into this.

  • Actually, I think that one of the things the highlight is the fact that Biden is doing much better than most had anticipated, given the fact that he had not been traveling in Super Tuesday states until this last weekend.

  • And so it's pretty clear that South Carolina seems to have given him a little bit of a bump.

  • How much of last night really played into this defect?

  • Alana with the with Chlo Bashar and with footage coming out saying, We're going to support Joe Biden, I think you have that coalition getting behind him.

  • You had a lot of people.

  • We've reported at the Texas Tribune that we're waiting to see how South Carolina played out.

  • Thio, wait, you know, seeing how fluid this field is to wait to cast their ballots to today.

  • So I'm really interested to see what the voting totals look like.

  • for turning out on this election day.

  • And but can it be pointed out something before we got going here?

  • Don't let the early reserve early results fool you.

  • Why not?

  • But Jason, the earlier first of all people voting for two weeks before you had this Democratic coalition, you had you had the and then you have this ballot that has all the people who've dropped out.

  • People are voting for Castro when you have this long ballad of names so well, we won't be watching.

  • Early voting will be watching Election Day on how that turns whether Joe Biden picks that up and in the time we're talking to.

  • But they're Bernadine The Associated Press called Alabama for Joe Biden as well.

  • Is this the restored of his campaign?

  • With the changing of the race tonight?

  • I think it's the continuation of his campaign.

  • But remember, he's He always said that he would do well in the South, and he is.

  • So his projections are coming true, and I I somewhat agree with, but when he talks about early voting, But keep in mind that these people were voting long before everything happened in South Carolina and happened last night.

  • So this could be even better news for by because he's winning the early voting in these states and he didn't even have all of this boost last.

  • Wouldn't they start voting?

  • That's a good point.

  • Let's talk about that, too.

  • Alone and Camila because you know, voters could see Amy Klobuchar could see Pete Buddha Judge could see these other candidates who are not, you know, in the race anymore.

  • But they were on the ballot.

  • I think it's all come down to electability, right?

  • We saw Mike Rawlings out here endorsed Biden when the two Texans were still in the race being, ah, work and Castro.

  • So I think that they see Biden is the your best bet.

  • Thio.

  • You know, a never trump or to out Trump from office Kimmel.

  • And if you're on the Bernie Sanders campaign tonight just saying, Hey, just wait to California.

  • What are you saying?

  • You're saying keep an eye on things As we move across the country, we move away from some of those deep Southern states.

  • Don't forget that Sanders has played well to a certain east Coast kind of liberal.

  • So you're gonna watch as we move across that tell you, Texas is really the state to watch tonight here, in many ways, because Sanders was up by such a large percentage that no one would have ever anticipated in 2016.

  • Some of that's been cut into by Biden, even Justus recently within the last 23 days.

  • We're gonna spend a lot of time on this side of the studio tonight.

  • Want to go to Jason Winner, though with some of the early vote totals here.

  • Four Texas.

  • Yeah.

  • And, you know, while we get into those early vote totals Jason, can you tap the brain trust over there?

  • I don't know the answer to this.

  • If we still have people who are standing in line in line at these polling centers, which we do, especially in Collin County, will the state release those early voting totals and show which candidates are getting that early vote, or will they wait until everybody is in?

  • They usually do.

  • I believe it.

  • Is that the case way?

  • Get all the results?

  • Yeah, they usually do.

  • At the top of the hour released.

  • The early vote results are taking so long because we're a couple of minutes in here.

  • We're ready to get this figured out as to who those votes have been going to.

  • Let's get to the early vote numbers.

  • We do know that right now we don't know who's gotten all of these votes, but we know how many of them have been cast.

  • You can see it broken down here on your screen, right in front of me.

  • We've got Republicans there.

  • We've got Democrats, they're on and you can see neck and neck.
