  • Hello.

  • Welcome to build.

  • We are coming to you live from London on tonight We are joined by the Queen of Love Island is only Caroline Flag.

  • Thank you.

  • It's good.

  • Now you're here to chat about all things Love Island.

  • But before we get to that, if you've got a question for Caroline that you want to get in, you can.

  • We are on Twitter after build Siri's LD and or if you're watching on Facebook, you can also leave a comment for us as well.

  • Caroline, the news today is that Love Island is mere days away, right?

  • Yes.

  • Can you tell us when it's finally gonna be back on our screens?

  • It's gonna be on your screens on the fifth of June.

  • Eyes that is just over a week away.

  • Which is very sorry.

  • Now I believe we have got a little trailer which you're gonna take a quick, sneaky look at nine is great.

  • More rain on the way way.

  • Love islands Back to take over your summer exclusively on ITV too.

  • A couple of my absolute favorites if they're not on the island this year, I'm gonna be really disappointed if I don't tell you that yet?

  • Now you tell us.

  • Get ready for the heat wave.

  • And we've heard it's gonna be the sexiest love island we've ever had.

  • So what can you tell us that we're going to expect from licious?

  • Well, the thing is, you don't really know, you know, we've already we've got contestants we've got.

  • Um I can't say how many.

  • We got the people.

  • We're gonna compare it to the villa initially.

  • Then Obviously, there's always gonna be people we're gonna put in afterwards, but you just don't know what's gonna happen till they go in.

  • So you've met the contestants, right?

  • Or you know that I have seen the contestant.

  • I've seen their cast in tapes like their interviews.

  • Andi, I'd secretly I just sneaked into one of the photo shoots of the Dancel.

  • I actually saw one of the guys in the flesh and he was hot.

  • Someone that's called ahead.

  • Alos tattoos.

  • Obviously, my boys have had a really, like big job willing them down this because you've had, like, a record number of like people applying this year, we had over 60,000 applied to be in Love Island, which is a lot, but it's even Maur when we had 16,000 apply last year.

  • So it's gone up so much.

  • A lot of single people around these two single people lost people who want to be in love and lost.

  • People who want to be maybe in a villa on telling you said, There's someone that's called your eye there But is that not call my eyes just just any hard?

  • Okay, change my way.

  • But how is so?

  • If emotionally invested, you get in the contestants, You kind of root for them like, Is there any in the past that you particularly wanted to cheer on?

  • Yeah, I think because I see them go into the other and know things they're gonna change when they come out.

  • Everything.

  • I mean, it's like when helping brother used to be your X factor.

  • I was the same with the X factor contestants, you know, life changes dramatically and really fast, and I think I do feel particularly protective over the girls, like on the older sister.

  • And I saw a pre warned them for what?

  • What to expect, you know, especially last year.

  • I know you remember Zara who I felt was quite unfairly treated I miss great Britain.

  • I don't mind saying that only because she didn't have a voice to speak and they very publicly took her title away without telling her on.

  • We all knew and everyone knew she didn't know she was in that house all in a row.

  • And I think someone needed to be her voice.

  • So I felt really protective in Zara.

  • So that was very unfair.

  • And then it just in general, even with Terry, even though with what Terry did tamale in which we were very angry about, I knew that he was gonna come out to a barrage of tweets and nasty things because we do get very involved in it s so I just said to him, Terry, look, there's gonna visa stuff online.

  • Whatever you do, don't respond.

  • Like just don't hate it.

  • Is it difficult?

  • Like cause you're the host And I guess you have to, like, kind of remain impartial, right?

  • Is it?

  • This are difficult, like you kind of like art mailer.

  • Don't get with him.

  • He's terrible, like I will be.

  • I will.

  • There's death.

  • I'm definitely a view as well.

  • I'm not just don't think I watches of you as well as a host, and I get really invested.

  • But I have to have my professional hat.

  • Has to stay on.

  • And I have to.

  • I can't have favorites.

  • I don't think that reefer wherever boys me.

  • And I'll be like he's made.

  • Definitely.

  • If there's been any contested in the past that you just really no really rated their behavior in that villa.

  • Um, I don't want to offend anybody.

  • Shame, Caroline.

  • I don't want to I don't know what it changes.

  • I just was my foot from you one.

  • I mean, just went, just walked in and people were a bit unsure if I want.

  • Then she was, you know, she was a little bit heartbroken, and Josh was a bit mean to head.

  • Oh, no, me came here, know me.

  • She was She was the one.

  • Uh, but, you know, it was a TV show, and they're playing a game now.

  • How do you think that if you weren't in the public eye, would you consider a show like Love Island is?

  • This isn't something that you would try out.

  • Would you want to go on?

  • When I was younger, I was, like, 18 to 24 on Someone said, Here's a 10 week holiday in a villa in New Yorker.

  • Would you like to go with loads of really hot guys?

  • I probably Oh, yeah.

  • Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah.

  • How do you think you felt?

  • Way?

  • See, the contestants kind of like play the game as well.

  • So some fall in love and some kind of a play it quite tactic.

  • They see, I I would not be out to hide my feelings for anyone or no, no, even that would be worse.

  • I can't act normal around someone that I like, you know?

  • And you could be really cool and around people you don't Suddenly you have feeling someone, and you just turn into the most uncle pass.

  • Never.

  • Yeah, I hear you.

  • Thank you.

  • What do you make of those kind of contestants that do you play the game?

  • Is that is that part of part of the show or does that kind of annoy?

  • I don't know.

  • I don't If it does, I don't think you can only have a showman for so long.

  • I think you'd have to be an incredibly good actor or actress to keep that up for a long time, you know, and I just don't think they do everything as soon as you get into somewhere.

  • It's like with any other reality show.

  • You do kind of let your guard down and you forget and things happen.

  • Emotions start happening, and that's what's so good about it, cause it's genuine emotion and we see it.

  • I guess we have to have the love triangle last year as well with Katie and Tom and Sophie last Well, which it was amazing to watch unfold, but I kind of Israel emotions on the end of the line for a lot of these contestants at the end of the day, right?

  • Yeah.

  • Tom, remember Tom?

  • I mean, Tom really like.

  • So if he didn't really, like, really like Sophie, he would not let it go.

  • Okay, Sophie, what?

  • Them reminded you of you sometime when someone's a bit too heavy in a relationship and you just need them to take a step back a little bit.

  • You could see where Sophie was coming from.

  • A swell.

  • So all those situations just add up to situations you boys you've been in and you relate to it.

  • It's nice lashes whether we had Katie and Sophie, who kind of represented sort of the LGBT community is.

  • Well, I think that's something that we're gonna Seymour of this Siri's things cost.

  • I don't I can't say anything until Monday the fifth.

  • When you see them go in, I can't say who's going in.

  • So we're gonna get to find out who they are before they go into where they literally that we're gonna be unveiled on kind of.

  • We will see pictures and we will have names.

  • And I'm sure the press will do that.

  • Do the job of finding out little stories about people, can't have anything.

  • So that's I think, what you know.

  • And then we'll just see it happen on the fifth.

  • But the show's become such a massive hit for ITV to last year's.

  • So what kind of over taping brother, which was insane, was kind of expecting that success for the show.

  • When you signed up?

  • Well, I'd watch the one with Fern used to house back in the celebrity celebrity Love island s O.

  • I knew there was a former in it that I liked.

  • And then when we did the kind of pilot and we tested it out on the first serious.

  • I was like, This is good And then as it went on, you couldn't really tell.

  • But by the end of the first series, I knew it was gonna be it.

  • Definitely because it was just had a good former on Love Island as well.

  • Like you say, we had it sort of 10 15 years ago when it was the celebrity version.

  • Would you like to see another celebrity version?

  • You know, I think what's good about this is it's relatable on.

  • I think it's one of the is rarity, actually, that there's a reality show that actually works better with people we don't know because we get to know them and that's what we relate to.

  • And we feel like I've done that or I could do that and I could be on this next year, and I think that's really good.

  • We know we've got a question for the audience from a Love Island found.

  • But before I ask that I want to ask you if someone was to come back to Love Island either celebrity version, so maybe poured in on or from the last two series, who would you bring back and why.

  • Mmm.

  • Um, you know what?

  • I'd quite like to just throw Terry back in there because I've never seen like, such a reaction from a group of girls over Terri on.

  • When I saw him, I thought, Yeah, he's all right.

  • But sonny to win in that the girls were like crazy over him, didn't they?

  • Like with that neck tattooed neck?

  • Like people loved him.

  • Andi, he's a bit of a star, so I think he'd stare up a few things in this.

  • We've heard that Katie could be going back as well, right?

  • Is that true?

  • Is that is that just a rumor?

  • At this day?

  • Everything's room is in a minute.

  • Everything is Remus, right?

  • Who has got a question for Caroline or Love?

  • Island High.

  • Hi, Caroline.

  • Um, if you could be cast away with any three celebs love island, who would they be on?

  • Why?

  • From love Island on love on love violence.

  • Okay, you cast away with three select Good question three.

  • Just three people.

  • Just famous.

  • Um, you know, I'd be really boring.

  • I just have to choose people.

  • I know Keith Lemon, because he just be really fun.

  • Um oh, my friend Gizzi, who's a chef?

  • Because she could tickle the food.

  • And then who's really hot?

  • Probably not, though, Um, I've got quite a big crush on Steve Coogan, and he's quite funny.

  • Okay, Okay.

  • Yes, I mean, that's fine.

  • It's your choice, a bunch.

  • But they get now, after Love Island finishes, we're gonna see a quite different side to you because you're going into the theater, right?

  • Jazz hands, Very exciting is your first kind of big theater role.

  • Can you tell us a little bit by the play that you gonna be S O.

  • The musical play is called crazy Few.

  • I'm playing a character called Irene Roth.

  • She gets dumped on dhe, then she finds love.

  • Uh, it's a little bit relatable from a human action that we put on the screen, and I am so that's so Hear him in the middle.

  • That's Tom Chambers.

  • He's my fiance.

  • At the beginning, on I'm really I'm quite annoyingly pushy.

  • And I keep asking for a day when you get married me on.

  • He then goes to the country of ours in the poly.

  • So, like no, that nice on Dhe.

  • But then I go to the country after him Because I'm really needy on Dhe.

  • Follow him.

  • He doesn't want me there.

  • He tells me it's over and I fall in love with a hotel owner Could link.

  • Oh, right.

  • Okay, so it sounds It sounds like quite a twisted tale of love.

  • Yeah, I think I've given away the end.

  • Yes.

  • S o if you start.

  • If you started for her soldier is we've had a few read throughs.

  • Andi, I've met some people in the cast and I've had my costume fitting on.

  • They're making my wig.

  • Oh, what kind of you going blunt?

  • Who?

  • Like I can explain on how are you feeling about it?

  • Kind of going with?

  • Because I know you kind of got a bit of a sort of stage background, but it's been a while since you've kind of treading the boards, right?

  • Excited, You know, the weirdly Because I went thio like Dance school and and Jonah school.

  • It's my only qualification, so I'm actually using my qualifications for the first time in my life.

  • You spend a long time sort of in TV now, and you kind of said in your autobiography is something you kind of fell into sort of accidentally.

  • So this is kind of like a bit of a going home for you.

  • Yeah.

  • So I trained in musical theater and always did, like, pantos and stuff when I was a kid.

  • And then I let came to London when I was 19 and, um, audition fellows did musical theater walls, but I did not get on.

  • And then I kind of got into TV.

  • No, by accident, but just having, like, meeting the right people on Bennet's gone full circle.

  • And then I did strictly and then I kind of used that kind of going to musical.

  • And then you guys yeah, I know you have got follow strictly alumni with you on a crazy few Tom Chambers.

  • Now, have you been sort of chatting backstage, comparing sort of strictly experiences.

  • But we did the tour together.

  • I I did get to know Tom, and he's really good.

  • He was He looked after me on the toll, but everyone's taking experiences kind of the same.

  • Everyone gets into a bit of a strictly bubble you get really obsessed with.

  • I did.

  • Anyway, I got you know I trained from that thing in the morning till late at night to the point where my partner is like, you know it.

  • Now go home.

  • But that's what you want the Siri's by they like I want to talk to you a little bit more about strictly your Siri's was, I think, probably the best series that has been in quite some time.

  • Obviously the best champion I know what it's kind of your your favorite and least favorite memory from that kind of crazy 12 week journey.

  • Well, it's like cause it's Did you start four weeks before, So it's almost like a 16 week journey long.

  • And then before then you're doing that all the photos and meeting the team and all that kind of stuff.

  • You're nearly there for half the years, like, half a year, you're you're involved.

  • Favorite thing was probably I was really lucky that I got Pasha on.

  • It was when I turned up on the day right when you turned up to stick in, everyone's there and I had picked the lock and Frankie and I really read a good Jeff girls on.

  • Then they kind of do like a speed dating for dancing situation where they put you in a circle.

  • And then all the professional dancers have to come around and dance with you one by one for like, a minute on.

  • The bosses are all standing.

  • Then they're watching and they're trying to seize off who goes well with who.

  • So you get to trial everybody, right.

  • So I've got Brendan and I've got a Kevin and then you like And then Pasha came along.

  • Uh, so when I finished, I was like that.

  • I went home that night was like, So I have to have passions.

  • My partner.

  • That's what I'm saying in my head and I want passion.

  • I want Master.

  • And I knew I wanted him, and I kept saying it on Did the dress of household.

  • When they're going to give you a partner, they gave me Pasha, and I'm like, Oh, no, that means I'm not gonna get him.

  • But then I got him.

  • So it's great.

  • It's kind of like a speed day in a really, really odd way.

  • Yeah, it's high speed data, but I think they do it by height and all that kind of thing.

  • So anyway, I was really lucky because He was a really good teacher on dhe.

  • He was very patient on Dhe.

  • He we just got on really well.

  • I guess when you sign up for something like strictly as well, it's such a glamorous show in like What we see on the Saturday night is just two hours of just camp and glitz and there.

  • But there's a There's another side to strictly.

  • It's quite actually hard work, right?

  • It's really hard work, and the main grafting is actually done in the week.

  • You know, when you go and you go in and you gallop on a Monday and you you're exhausted from the Saturday on did you go into and you learning to dance and you have four days to learn and then you know, the day to rehearse in the Friday you don't have long, and it is.

  • People always say, when you know when they say Let the strictly cursed people get together because they must be just being sexy each other.

  • It's not because of that is because you see each other kind of at your worst.

  • You're grumpy, you're sweaty, you're you know, and and you and you build this team and I can so I can see how these people do get together within the serious.

  • It's kind of like relationships, but it's very worst.

  • Yeah, and you spend so much time with each other, and it's like you only see each other for the hallway.

  • Did you anticipate that when you signed up?

  • Was that kind of like something you anticipate with you?

  • Just be crying in front of your partner and, you know, it did happen a lot and then you sometimes have arguments on, but it's just part of it.

  • And you look back on it with fun.

  • This so and was there a dance that you absolutely like my favorite of your dance Michelle showdowns.

  • It was incredible, like the finale dies just the perfect way to finish the Siri's.

  • But was there a dance you hated?

  • Well, I really I liked during the waltz, but I wasn't very good at the waltz, and I think that's when we got on the bottom, too, and I could watch every one of the world's Malik so like they just glide across the floor and so elegant, and I just couldn't I could not do boring My body wasn't made for Boram.

  • So I had to work really hard, so I'd probably say any of the boredom I really struggled with on I couldn't work out how your feet would move at the same time And how bodies could just you're supposed to become like one body.

  • I just couldn't d'oh want.

  • But yes, a Latin for me was much easier on the show.

  • Dance was was really good because I said, right, I want to do this.

  • I want Michael Jackson back away.

  • That's what I want to do for my show dance.

  • You got to choose a song and a passion in me when no one okay, I do kung fu fights.

  • I would imagine we come out black.

  • Everybody was going He's like, No, he goes, You're too emotional for that Says I will go to you guys.

  • You're gonna do angels.

  • And I'm like what they needed, just like, really elegant get took my shoes away and put me in this white dress and it was really nice.

  • So the whole experience with straightly fire?

  • No, like I mean, I don't know what it's like.

  • I would love to know what it's like.

  • My dream But can you talk us through what happens on a strictly final night?

  • What?

  • What goes through your mind?

  • What's happening backstage on the final?

  • Um, you know what?

  • It's actually quite nice in the final, because once you've got to that last week you've done all the dances, so it doesn't matter if you win or not.

  • Everyone who's got that final week.

  • So it was me, Simon Frank Earmark.

  • Right, And we've got there.

  • So it meant that we have got to do all 12 styles of dance.

  • And that was in itself, you know, an achievement.

  • So we were like, Doesn't matter who wins.

  • We've all got here.

  • And then all the people from the rest of Syria's they come back as well.

  • So the final, in a way, is the least pressure of a ll the nights.

  • It's all the other nights where you just want to get through to the final, that much, there's much more pressure.

  • Where's the final?

  • Was more of a celebration.

  • And there was there was absolutely no way that me and passion thought we were gonna win.

  • And we said every time we finished dance were like, This is great This is great.

  • We're here.

  • So when you get your name called out, it is the icing on the cake.

  • But it won't, You know, as tense as you on the other night when his reaction was incredible was about that there's a gift somewhere on the way.

  • I just didn't I just I really thought Frank was gonna win.

  • I just thought she was gonna win from data.

  • Is there really seriously?

  • Because obviously, last year we had at balls who was a phenomenon on the dance feels Has there been a serious since you've been like a ship in on that one?

  • All of them.

  • Yeah.

  • Once you've done it once you go back and do the whole thing again, I would, um Was it like watching passion?

  • Like it must be weird watching passion dance with Caroline.

  • Everyone says they get jealous, but I don't mind.

  • I really like watching passion darts.

  • And I just think you've got a really good partner.

  • Whoever gets him is very, very lucky.

  • I know we've got a question for strictly from the audience.

  • A cz Well, who has got a little question for Carl?

  • Hey, um, I was just wondering um, if I'm sorry, if, uh, you Is there any moments from strictly that you can think of that having behind the stage that viewers might not know about?

  • Ah, yes, I think I am.

  • Yeah, I mean, so much happens behind things, probably very much that you probably can't even tell you can't say because it's not TV etiquette.

  • Give where?

  • Those sort of things.

  • I think the people are more nervous than you think.

  • Like when that it's a mixture of feeling excited and the most sick you've ever felt in your life.

  • On when that's when that music starts, everyone's lined up behind the stage on the stairs.

  • No one's on the floor.

  • Everyone's on the stairs waiting to come down, and then the music starts and you're just squeeze each other ready.

  • And it's kind of like the worst but best feeling ever, which you ever considered kind of going because they invite people back full of the Christmas special and stuff.

  • Would you have a go back?

  • Or is that kind of like, done?

  • No.

  • No.

  • I'd love to heartbeat.

  • Just go back.

  • You just want you've got done at once like you get the bug to go back.

  • Definitely straightly bosses.

  • If you're listening, this is Chris won't be able to do it this year.

  • But any other?

  • Yeah, yeah, yeah.

  • Now I read somewhere that after you finish strictly, you actually offered a West end role, But you actually turned it down.

  • And why was that?

  • Why did you sort of choose to sort of take time and sort of considered the right thing?

  • Because I think I've worked in TV and this job long enough to know that I have to like my job in a way and learn because you is like any craft in any job.

  • You can't just go in by the deep end.

  • It's just I think I'd probably make a mistake and ruin it.

  • So I knew that if I was gonna take a role in theater, I could just get right.

  • I want to be this person because it just wouldn't Wouldn't be right.

  • I want to kind of learn it properly on.

  • I kind of want to do it for a long time.

  • I want it to be something that I do and you know forever, because that's all I can do.

  • And Dede, like if you got like a dream show that you'd really like to be in for dream part.

  • Well, when I was a kid, I always wanted to be the white cat and cats and I auditioned a few times, but I did not get it was not good enough.

  • But now I think I'm too old to be the white Karen Katz s.

  • Oh, that's been and gone and I could never happen.

  • But yeah, I mean, there was always that rocks, huge cargo, and things like that is his loader parts had loved to play, but there's also lots of now I'm kind of venturing into theater, like discovering all these roles and reading these parts.

  • And actually, when I read the script, I've read the script for Polly and I read the script for Irene and it was the Irene part.

  • I thought, That's the part I want to play.

  • And that's the nice part.

  • Is getting to know a character.

  • Was it kind of that you were drawn to her as a kind of a character and you empathize with her?

  • Or was it a kind of case of she is a credible?

  • She has got a great song, and it was really naughty number.

  • And it's just she's a good character.

  • She's feisty.

  • How are you feeling about the whole singing thing?

  • Cause anyone that follows you on Instagram will know that you can belt out a tune.

  • Well, I used to sing when I was younger.

  • I did.

  • I used positive.

  • I am going to be in a band.

  • So I'm not nervous about the singing in.

  • I'm not.

  • Actually.

  • I'm more nervous about getting the dancing right.

  • Really?

  • Which is, I guess, kind of what's fresher in your mind, right?

  • Yeah, but yeah, I'm not so not so nervous about the singing because we read in the papers recently and I know the papers and not one for exactly sticking to the truth.

  • But it's this rumor that you could be launching a some sort of.

  • I read that too.

  • It's not our dad.

  • No, I mean, if you would if you were to What kind of route would you know?

  • I just don't think I would.

  • I just don't think it's the right.

  • Don't think it's Carrie, Okay.

  • Yes.

  • Part Cohen.

  • No, definitely not.

  • Stick to the karaoke, That is, That is fair.

  • enough.

  • I believe we've got another question from the audience.

  • Now, who is up next high?

  • Hi.

  • Hi.

  • Good free.

  • Mm.

  • I've got a question.

  • If you could be any pop star for a day, who would you be and why?

  • So I've always really wanted t o know what it's like to be a guy for a day, So I choose, dude, what's like, Don't say if I were a boy.

  • Yeah, Exactly.

  • Just so I could just do that as well.

  • I do the do thing.

  • And then also, you know, uh, I was going to say I am someone else, but I just thought I'd love to be Dave girl like you.

  • Just you choose to be like the biggest rocker in the world.

  • And you will be Dave girl.

  • I need to have a headline glass debris be on that day.

  • I only want to do on that day.

  • I don't want a day off.

  • We were just being Dave role at home.

  • Just sitting around in your pants, watching every day, crowd headlining glasses.

  • Now we've had a couple of questions come in on social as well.

  • Jessica?

  • Lucy.

  • Hi, Jessica.

  • Lucy wants to know storming a C cup was amazing.

  • Would you ever write another book?

  • Um, maybe.

  • I don't know.

  • I'm not sure what you haven't thought about that.

  • Maybe I'd write a book about something, but I probably wouldn't do another book about my life.

  • I don't think Was it a difficult decision to kind of right about your life's kind of think some people find it really therapeutic, but I found it quite weird.

  • And I've never really read it again because it was quite, I don't know, I found a really weird experience, and then I felt quite vulnerable.

  • Kind of once it was out there, I felt Oh, I don't know if that was a dumb to know.

  • It was like someone reading your diary in a way.

  • And I didn't Yeah, I felt weird about it.

  • I don't know.

  • She's always been, since I have become a bit more like her as I go on, you know?

  • I mean, now I feel like I'm here four years ago, always made about four years behind, no six minutes behind the gaps, getting bigger.

  • People got so angry at stuff, or they were just like in love with people.

  • And they're like the relationships.

  • And we saw that and it was great because interaction with TV show, especially when it's life, is what you want, you know, especially Now, when things are on the Internet and things are, you know, on YouTube tohave a show that's on and people need to see it there and then is quite rare.

  • People chatting about it to us was brilliant.

  • But what we felt like is we want to own that chat instead of just being online.

  • We want to put that on telly so people can come phone up more than consider the audience.

  • I'm gonna have guests.

  • We're gonna chat about it straight after the show, I guess, is why we're shows, like, a bit on the side, Actually, fact, yeah, I'm a celebrity.

  • Get me out of here now.

  • I like those kind of shows are so successful, Mr Point.

  • Whether kind of good is the main show themselves, right?

  • Yeah.

  • Makes sense that Love Island gets its own little I just think it needs somewhere people can chat about it.

  • That's all it is.

  • You're gonna have celebrity guests, guests, But my if everything is, we're gonna have, like, proper relationship experts.

  • You know, when we can't do that, Does he like her?

  • Doesn't he?

  • Does she like him?

  • I want to, like, get inside their head and find out what?

  • How do I know?

  • What do you do with his finger?

  • Not finger, you know, Like, say, They said, if you like looking at someone and you move your shoulder if you do your hair, I want to know all that stuff.

  • I mean, not for myself or anything but you.
