Hey Ambitious Professionals! It's Linda Raynier of lindaraynier.com guiding you
to a career and life you'll truly enjoy and in today's video I'm going to teach
you my key strategy on how to deal with feeling behind in your career and three
action steps that you can take to get yourself back on track and moving
forward
now as a career strategist I've had the honour of being able to help numerous
professionals land their dream job offers and if this is something that
you're interested in working with me one-on-one then I can give you details
about that at the end of this video when it comes to feeling behind in your
career if this is something that you're facing it's not something that you would
necessarily say out loud or tell many people that you're feeling and if this
is what you're feeling it's really easy to get down on yourself when you look at
other people who seem to be more successful than you or seem to be
happier and have more fulfilling careers and you are here still wondering whether
you're on the right path or not you probably wake up each morning every day
with this deep-seated underlying feeling of unsettledness in your system you get
annoyed easily you get frustrated easily and overall you're just not feeling the
greatest about your life in your career you're lacking confidence so here are
three steps to get you feeling back on purpose with your career step one is to
cleanse your stagnated energy what I mean by this is thoughts equal energy
thoughts are energy and when we are consumed by our thoughts thoughts that
were not good enough we're behind in life we're not achieving what we should
be this creates stagnated energy in our
minds and we end up being so mind focused that we forget our bodies and so
we become really imbalanced and that causes that feeling of unsettledness and
annoyance and frustration every day so the first step is to clear that
stagnated energy by moving our bodies and you can do this in a variety of ways
you could do it in any exercise form that feels good for you for example yoga
it doesn't have to be the hard core power yoga you could do yin yoga if it's
more relaxing for you and you enjoy the long stretches you can do Tai Chi if you
like a really gentle type of movement you can do running if that's what you
enjoy best hardcore aerobic workouts whatever it is you just have to select a
type of exercise that you're going to do and you're going to commit to doing
during those times when you really feel that stagnated energy in your body what
happens is energetically as you your body it releases that some of that
stagnated energy it clears your system and so therefore you have a clear mind
and with a clear mind you can start to tap into who you are and then from there
you'll be able to get more understanding of what it is that you need to do to
really get yourself moving forward in your life with the clear mind you're
gonna be able to see things as they are without the filters of negative
self-talk and self-doubt and those thoughts about being behind in your life
you're gonna see things as they are and you're going to feel who you are in the
process step number two is then to grab a journal and take a seat in front of a
window and then ask yourself what am I feeling now so the way you'll do this is
on one page you're gonna is bright what are the thoughts that I'm feeling right
now and you're gonna just free right and you're gonna write all the things that
you're feeling negative positive whatever it may be likely it's gonna be
negative and that's fine you write it all out and then you're gonna write why
am I feeling this way you really want to ask yourself why you're feeling what
you're feeling because what you're gonna find and what you're going to discover
if you ask yourself why am I feeling this way is I'm feeling this way because
I'm telling myself things that make me feel this way the thoughts that I'm
allowing me to believe myself to believe is what's causing me to feel this way
that's gonna be the answer but the big aha moment comes when you can realize
once you can write down the thoughts that are actually actively circulating
in your head and you can see them on paper it creates this process where you
are separating yourself from your thoughts and once you separate yourself
from your thoughts you can actually learn to understand these thoughts where
they came from the source of how they got to you and once you understand them
fully you can let them go and the letting go process comes naturally soon
as you understand wow this is a thought that I've been telling myself because
this is something that I picked up in early childhood or ten years ago when I
first started my career whatever it is you recognize that this was something
that I led myself to believe but it's actually not the truth and so once you
understand it understand that these thoughts are not who you are letting
them go becomes very natural because it just it happens as a natural process
it's not something you have to force and step number three is to stop comparing
yourself to others this one is a hard one for a lot of people because for a
lot of us comparing ourselves to other people happens naturally growing up we
were taught to compete to be the best to compete against other children and that
gets ingrained into us as we grow into adults but remember this you are unique
there is no other person on this planet who is you who looks like you who acts
like you who talks like you who's had the exact same life experiences as you
who thinks like you who feels like you know you are the only version of
yourself on this planet of seven billion people that in itself has value you need
to recognize that you are unique because there is only one of you and so if
there's only one of you to compare yourself to someone else who's also just
only one of them that's not a direct comparison you're not directly comparing
apples to apples everyone is on their own unique path and you have to
recognize that you are on yours but the longer that you stay focused on someone
else's path and not on your own is where you can create this sense of unhappiness
and unsettledness and feeling behind and not good enough in your career and in
your life and the more that you can focus on who you are the value that you
bring the fact that you are unique there's no other person on this planet
just like you you have this one opportunity to be able to do whatever it
is that you want in this lifetime to achieve whatever it is you want to truly
live your dream that's when you can start to bring that fulfilled meaningful
life and career forward into your existence so there you have it those are
my three action steps that hopefully will help you to recognize that you're
not behind in your career that you are exactly where you're meant to be and as
long as you continue to focus on yourself focus on what it is that you
want and move forward in that direction you'll get there and I want to wrap this
message up with this super-awesome quote that I found that
I think is perfectly suitable and it says every minute you spend wishing you
had someone else's life is a minute spent wasting yours now if you're on the
