  • -Oh, by the way, let me say one thing.

  • -Sure. -Because I have an 11-year-old.

  • -Oh, yeah. -His name is Jerónimo.

  • And they're huge fans.

  • Everyone in his school, in his classroom,

  • are huge fans of this show,

  • even though they're not supposed to watch it, right?

  • -Oh, yeah, yeah.

  • Well, it depends how cool their parents are.

  • [ Laughter ]

  • You're very cool, yeah. -But I just wanted you to --

  • -They watch us on TV?

  • -Well, I guess on YouTube or something.

  • -Yeah, YouTube. That's where all the kids watch.

  • No way. So he's watching right now?

  • -He's watching right now. -Hey, buddy! Hey.

  • Hi, buddy! How you doing? Your dad is awesome.

  • I love your dad. He's so cool.

  • [ Cheers and applause ]

  • He's the coolest! He's the coolest!

  • You really actually are the coolest.

  • -Thank you very much. -I've got to talk about this.

  • You're going to be in the "Rogue One" prequel.

  • -That's correct. -For Disney Plus.

  • -Yeah. -Now -- Look.

  • Already you're distracted.

  • 'Cause you're not allowed to say anything about it, right?

  • -I've got to start to -- Yeah, yeah, yeah.

  • I got to look distracted. -You got to make things up.

  • -Sorry. You were ta-- saying...

  • [ Laughter ]

  • -What can you say? -Uh, nothing.

  • -Wow! -Nothing. Well, I mean --

  • -No spoilers. Nothing. But you are --

  • -Obviously nothing. -You are in it, though.

  • -I'm in it, and I can't say anything, but not because

  • I don't want to or because of a contract.

  • It's because they don't tell me anything.

  • [ Laughter ] No, really.

  • They don't trust me, I think.

  • -Rea-- Why would they not trust you?

  • -Because I like mezcal, man, and I tend to...

  • [ Laughter ]

  • I tend to get drunk. -Mezcal? [ Laughs ]

  • -I tend to get drunk and say things.

  • You know, I also used to leave my script --

  • While we were shooting "Rogue One,"

  • I used to leave my script everywhere.

  • They realized that.

  • I was single, so it's also kind of cool.

  • Like, "Oh, you wanna know what the film is?"

  • [ Laughter ] -You use it to pick up girls.

  • -Or whatever. Meeting, like, friends.

  • -Yeah, whenever you want to meet people, sure.

  • But, I mean, do you remember getting cast in the orig--

  • in the movie? Was that a big deal for you?

  • -It was huge. I couldn't believe it.

  • I was invited to a restaurant in L.A.

  • The director was sitting there.

  • And he started talking about the film,

  • and I was like, "Okay. Interesting."

  • And then he was all the time saying like, "There's this role,

  • and then this guy does this, and then this guy does that."

  • And I'm just wondering like,

  • "When's he gonna ask for Gael's number?"

  • or something like that. -Gael Garcia?

  • -"Do you know Gael?

  • Because we really want him to play the role."

  • -You thought he needed you

  • to get your friend to be in the movie?

  • -Something like that.

  • I was like, "Why is he telling me the story?

  • I'm gonna go out and tell it out there."

  • -Yeah, exactly, yeah. -And then at the end,

  • he goes like, "Yeah, and I would love you to play it."

  • -Wow. -I go like, "No."

  • -That's a game-changer. That's a game-changer.

  • -Well, I mean --

  • -You got that, you got "Narcos." Come on, man.

  • -No, no. That was bigger than anything.

  • -It really is giant. -I love watching those films.

  • -Yeah. You, uh --

  • I heard a rumor that the name of the show is "White Snake."

  • -What do you mean?

  • [ Laughter ]

  • -I mean, no big deal. You can say it.

  • It's not a big deal. We're cool, right?

  • -Which show? Which show? -We're cool.

  • -You mean -- -What's that?

  • -Which show?

  • -I was just talking about your show, the "Rogue One" prequel.

  • -Sorry. My English is just very limited.

  • [ Laughter ]

  • [ Cheers and applause ]

  • -¿Cómo se dice "White Snake"?

  • [ Laughter ]

  • -To be honest, in Spanish, it sounds like a porn movie.

  • [ Laughter ]

  • Not a show for kids. -Can you -- Can you --

  • Si. "La Serpiente Blanca."

  • Where did you get that from? I mean --

  • -I heard "White Snake" is the name.

  • That's the rumor going around on all the blogs.

  • -I'm quitting if that's true.

  • -No. Really? So it's not "White Snake"?

  • -Do you really like that title? -No.

  • -Me neither. -It makes no sense.

  • -No sense. -Who made that up?

  • -"White Snake." -"White Snake." No.

  • -I mean, no, it's not. -Okay.

  • -I think you have to --

  • You have to stop reading newspapers and all the...

  • -[ Laughs ] Get off the Internet.

  • -Yeah. -Get off the Internet. Yeah.

  • I want to talk to you about -- 'Cause when you did do press

  • for the movie, for "Rogue One,"

  • which was the biggest thing of all time,

  • you kept saying something in an interview.

  • Do you know what I'm talking about?

  • -[ Laughs ] Yeah, of course.

  • -Why would you -- -I'm such an idiot.

  • Well, I mean, I come from doing, you know, promotions of films

  • where they don't want to know anything about the film.

  • -Yeah, of course. -And now you arrive,

  • and you have to ask yourself the questions, you know?

  • It's like, "Oh, do you want to know what the film is about?

  • Okay. Let me tell you." -Yeah. You ask yourself.

  • -But then I get to the "Star Wars" world,

  • and it's the opposite.

  • You say one thing, and it haunts you forever.

  • -Yeah. Let me show you what -- -Oh, no.

  • -We put a little compilation of Diego Luna. Check it out.

  • -Jabba. I have always wanted to touch him.

  • I like -- The texture of Jabba is something I need to discover.

  • And the texture. -[ Laughs ] And just like...

  • -[ Laughs ] The texture.

  • I'm very curious to actually touch that texture.

  • Jabba. Come on.

  • Touching his, you know, like, his belly.

  • Like, ooh! I am so tempted.

  • I mean, this is -- -"Yabba."

  • [ Laughter ]

  • Yabba. Yabba the Hutt?

  • -Yeah, obviously Jabba the Hutt. -Yabba the Hutt.

  • -Come on. I watch...

  • -You want to feel the texture. The texture --

  • -The texture of Jabba's belly.

  • I mean, but that was one interview.

  • Then I was asked --

  • I was asked and asked and asked about Jabba.

  • It suddenly started to feel like I was in love with Jabba.

  • [ Laughter ]

  • It's not. I'm sorry.

  • I got to tell you. I gotta talk to my son. Sorry.

  • -Yes, talk to -- Yeah. -Hey, Jerónimo.

  • I'm not in love with Jabba.

  • That was one big mistake I made.

  • -Do you --

  • -But I have, like, seven Jabbas at home.

  • Everyone gives me Jabbas. You know?

  • It's like, "Ah, what is the best gift for Diego?

  • He turned 40. Oh, you're Jabba."

  • I'm like, "No!"

  • -Is Jabba gonna be in "Rogue One"?

  • -I hope Baby Jabba, no?

  • Now that it's all about babies.

  • -That would be the cute--

  • Oh, Baby Jabba the Hutt?

  • -Can you imagine? -Oh, no.

  • That's so cute.

  • start that rumor. Now you're in trouble.

  • -Please. You're gonna edit.

  • -No. [ Laughs ]

  • We can't edit it. We're live. -Sorry.

  • -Let's talk about "Narcos: Mexico."

  • -Let's do it. -You're fantastic.

  • Do you want to set it up for anyone who hasn't seen it?

  • -Yeah. "Narcos: Mexico" is the story of the '80s in Mexico,

  • how the madness started, the madness we're living today.

  • It's a very powerful series, I think,

  • because it's somehow connects

  • with the world we are living in without you knowing.

  • By the end you go like, "Holy crap.

  • That's why the violence today.

  • That's why what we're going through today."

  • And for me, it's an interesting way to tell the world

  • that the violence we're living in Mexico these days

  • belongs to all of us, you know?

  • -Yeah. -Market is here.

  • This is a global issue,

  • you know, and we're getting the violence.

  • And this story tells you why we're getting the violence

  • and what's happening and how much

  • this is not a story of good and bad people, you know?

  • There is many layers there. -Yeah.

  • -And corruption is everywhere. You know?

  • -You do such a great job acting in this, I will say,

  • just to compliment you while you're here.

  • But you don't play -- 'Cause you are a bad guy.

  • -Yeah.

  • -But you don't play it like a villain.

  • You're actually just -- Right?

  • -Well, you cannot judge a character as an actor, you know?

  • Then I step back, and I don't justify his actions.

  • But when I'm playing it, I have to understand

  • why he's doing what he's doing,

  • so I have to find a way to connect with the character.

  • You know? And that's the job we have.

  • And that's the beauty of our job.

  • We are playing a gang there,

  • and we are trying to make a character real.

  • Now I step back, and I see the story,

  • and I am so glad, like, we end shooting the second season,

  • because it's -- it's -- it's exhausting.

  • You know? The material is hardcore.

  • But then I go back home, and I cannot tell my kids where I was.

  • You know?

  • -You can't tell your kids what you did all day.

  • -Yeah, of course. It's like, "Yeah.

  • I was just talking about killing so many people

  • while intoxicating half of the planet."

  • -You should just talk about Yabba and the texture.

  • That's all you gotta talk about, is the texture.

-Oh, by the way, let me say one thing.
