  • My name is Richard, but one from the interview training company, past may interview dot com, And in this tutorial, I am going to teach you how to pass a waiter or waitress interview So it does not matter which restaurant, hotel or eating establishment you have your interview with.

  • I promise you this tutorial, we'll make a big difference to your preparation on performance at the interview itself.

  • I'm going to give you a number of interview questions that are pretty much guaranteed to come up on.

  • More importantly, I'm going to give you some high scoring answers.

  • So please do stick around now before I get into those tips and the questions and answers.

  • My name is Richard McMann on the former firefighter, and I've been helping people now to pass their interviews for about 20 years, and I do that by giving you top scoring answers that you can't find anywhere else.

  • So they are unique.

  • Now, before I get into those questions and the answers a couple of things make sure you demonstrate the following skills and attributes during your waiter or waitress interview.

  • These are really important.

  • You have to show an ability to provide excellent customer service.

  • Is is very, very important number to have an understanding of how to properly deal with a complaint on.

  • I'll talk you through that as we go through this presentation.

  • Have a flexible approach to your work and be able to work the hours specified.

  • So what you don't want to do is to go along to the interview and say, Yes, I can work all of these hours and not be able to very important that you're honest about the hours that you can definitely commit to and that you're going to turn up to work as and when required.

  • No, obviously, understandably, from a restaurant owner's perspective, the more on sociable hours or weekends you can do the better.

  • You have a higher chance of getting the job.

  • I want to be a waitress because I have a passion for delivering excellent customer service, and the fact you get to make a positive difference to people's experience whilst visiting the restaurant is an additional bonus to roll.

  • I guess deep down I am a people person who enjoys serving people.

  • I'm making sure everything is in order now when considering the role, I actually research the job description, and I understand the pressure that comes with the position and how important it is to treat customers very well and provide great service all times.

  • Now, in respect of what I can bring to the world, I could bring a positive attitude of flexible approach to my work and ability to give great and consistent service and also the ability to carry out lots of tasks all at once.

  • So that's a great answer, because that gets you off on the right footing during your interview.

  • It's well prepared.

  • It's logical.

  • It's concise and as a state demonstrates that you can provide excellent customer service.

  • So you understand the role questionable to what into seven most important things to consider when carrying out your duties as a waitress or waiter.

  • So what are the seven most important things to consider when carrying out your duties as a waitress or a waiter?

  • So this basically assesses your knowledge of the role of the job description.

  • Most people think they can answer this, but here's my prepared answer for you.

  • When carrying out your duties as a waitress, you have to consider the fact that the customer's needs must always come first.

  • You need to ensure you provide a fast, efficient and knowledgeable service and also have an ability to be accurate in your work because you can't bring out incorrect orders or overcharge your customers.

  • You also need to remain calm when you are under pressure.

  • Do with customer complaints efficiently and politely as and when they do arise.

  • Actors a positive role model in how you act and how you present yourself and also having a cheery and positive attitude at all times while serving customers is important.

  • So that shows you understand the different things that you need to consider when you're carrying out your duties.

  • During my research into your restaurant, three things stood out specifically.

  • Who cares about its customers now before applying for the job, I did actually visit your restaurant was a customer just to have a look at how things operated on.

  • I actually had a very pleasant experience.

  • Whilst there the staff all appeared very happy in their role.

  • I was pleased to be able to submit my application and get to the interview stage for this job.

  • Now, finally, you have a straightforward quality menu, and this means customers can easily order their food without confusion.

  • And this, in turn, would actually make my role as your waiter much easier to perform and to also be able to provide great customer service for your visitors.

  • So that shows that you've looked in to their restaurant.

  • You've got three things that have stood out the way they run the business.

  • Lots of positive comments.

  • You actually went there yourself to see what it's like and then also making reference to park their service.

  • The menu that it's, you know, great looking menu, great food on it's that will make your job easier because then you can provide brilliant customer service.

  • Do you have that were a match for a role as a waitress or a waiter?

  • So what are the skills and qualities matchbooks need again?

  • It's assessing your understanding of the role here we go, having still in the job advert for the role I believe I have all of the skills qualities, Nat Tributes to perform it to a high standard.

  • For example, I'm really passionate about delivering high quality custom service.

  • I have an ability to deal with and resolve customer complaints.

  • I'm able to communicate effectively when dealing with customers about what's on the menu allergies and also the specials that will be available.

  • I'm actually flexible, and I can work on sociable hours as I'm gonna need it.

  • And I'm also a loyal and hardworking person who understands how important the role of a waitress is to the success of your company at the end of the day.

  • Without the customer, there would be no business.

  • So it's important.

  • The service I provide is to an outstanding level that shows a high level of in chap the intelligence and respect that you understand that the success of a restaurant or hotel or eating establishment is basically based on the reviews that people leave you as a waitress or a waiter.

  • You're coming face to face with the customers and their experience, not just in relation to the food that they receive, but the service will influence the type of reviews that they leave online And at the end of the day, we all check reviews before we go to somewhere to eat.

  • Describe the steps you would go through when dealing with a customer complaints that this is really important.

  • Before you go along to your waiter or waitress into you understand how to do of a complaint.

  • There are people out there who will always complain.

  • Um, sometimes it's justified.

  • Sometimes it's not, but you, so you have to deal with complaints in the right way.

  • Here we go.

  • Firstly, I would carefully listen to the customers complaint.

  • I believe that it's important for customers to have the opportunity to deliver their complaint to a human being face to face.

  • And I would make sure that I'm attentive in here in the issue directly.

  • At this point, I would try and resolve anything that I could actually on the spot.

  • In some cases, this might just require an apology.

  • If so, I would offer them my most heartfelt and sincere apology for the incident they're complaining about.

  • If they're complaining about an issue with their food, then I would do my best to refund or exchange a customer there and then But if the issue can be resolved in the moment, I would take a note of the complaint after the customers left, and I would then speak to my manager.

  • So hell, she could follow up and speak to the customer soon after on the telephone.

  • Finally, is always important for me to follow the training I would have provided when I started working here at the restaurant, and that I follow your own specific guidance on how to do with complaints in the restaurant that shows that you thought about this before you go along to your interview.
