  • Yeah, definitely.

  • It's Ah, almost news.

  • Almost noon.

  • Oh, shit.

  • Okay, all right.

  • Before we get into all that, you know UFC stuff Let's talk about your recent title fight versus Kaylie Cruz.

  • You're finishing the third round, you know?

  • What do you think about the legal shots you took to the crotch in that fight?

  • It was It was, uh what was it?

  • It was Joe Soto.

  • It's ah, something something.

  • Soto and Keith Hang Seng.

  • Joe Son Joe Son Keith Hackney Man, it brought me back to those days, but a minute it was corporal had opportunity.

  • Thio hang out with the kid man.

  • Great kid.

  • Dude, we can actually funny a crazy story is, uh, the first training session we had His parents were kind of worried that he was gonna can I, like, freak out?

  • Because he's not used to being around a lot of ah ah, Lot of like people are like loud noises and you and the genders people lifting weights and training.

  • Whatever, man.

  • He just totally rose to the occasion.

  • And it was totally his element.

  • And there was It was so cool, man.

  • And and he's such a great kid.

  • Both.

  • Like, uh, anything.

  • He, uh he made my day, you know, like just with the energy that he brought and everything he was, he was so great.

  • Yeah, man, it was Ah, I thought it was a great video that you guys made a great opportunity for.

  • Ah, Caleb to just a moment in his life.

  • You know where he was?

  • The star of the show.

  • It was Ah, and and in the beginning of the video is so funny that he was like talking about you.

  • And you're standing next to him.

  • I was You have brakes going down.

  • I'm going to take him out of him like No, I'm not.

  • You want to be talking about a bounty later.

  • What?

  • He was spent, he stuck to the narrative and those great bro.

  • So they're still crazy, because when I first met him, when I first met Caleb, it was I was just paying my power bill and and, uh, his sister came up to me.

  • I think where his dad was a man, my son or my brother is a really huge fan.

  • He really wants me in the med.

  • Um, Emma do from there.

  • From then on, you could tell this kid just had that charisma.

  • You know, like, I just remembered that day.

  • He was saying, You know, one of these days, I'm gonna fight you, and I'm like, whoa, did this this guy like, you know, and it's crazy because he put his mind to it, And we we we had a date, and we went at it for three rounds.

  • It was man, it was so cool.

  • So inspiring, man.

  • What a great kid.

  • And then, uh oh, the video.

  • The video that we made for him off him training.

  • I was like, You know it.

  • I want to make him a train.

  • Are a little like highlight training.

  • Real, you know, So I heard I heard from his mom and his dad that he was showing like the bus driver he was showing on his friends.

  • I feel like I would break so that it was It's just one of those things that make you so thankful t b in the business insurance.

  • I think that, you know, a lot of times that these stories kind of get looked over.

  • You know, that's what I like to bring it up in the interviews is because, you know, it's just at the beginning where people first click it in their lives listening to what's going on, you know, and gas is the first thing they will listen to.

  • And it's great to kind of give that exposure to K Live and to you know what you're doing because I know that that's just a little snippet of what you do on the islands for people.

  • So, you know, I'm really happy to talk about that.

  • A man thinking thank you brokers.

  • Ah, you know, and it's all the fighters out there or you gonna make athletes or whatever.

  • Men really use it as a platform, you know, use this stardom or this Attention extra attention, you know, use it as a platform to do something good.

  • You know, for me growing up, I never really had that actually coming, you know, coming to the schools and pocket all the kids, you know?

  • So I feel like it's like my duty to do that, you know?

  • I mean, and it's great.

  • And it's your meeting.

  • All the degree people on the ways is awesome.

  • Show him.

  • Now, let's get back to USC career.

  • So you are.

  • Well, before we get into that, everyone, everyone that was commenting later.

  • Oh, Frank, you're going down there now.

  • You know who, like you guys are true fans or not every little Alice.

  • Just super underdog.

  • Everyone wanted me to lose.

  • It was crazy.

  • Well, I didn't even realize that.

  • Well, you know, you went in there, man.

  • And, uh, e wanted to kind of over that performance you had in stock home.

  • You you seem like you were in, like, this flow state.

  • I've never seen you in this from, you know, like it's like, is you know, like how Michael Jordan talks about He's in the zone and you can't miss a shot.

  • It kind of Yeah, kind of felt that way.

  • When I was watching you fight, you felt like you're It was just so smooth.

  • What was going on?

  • Did you feel that way?

  • Yeah, I did.

  • You know, it was I was I was very, uh I was not tunnel vision, but I was I was very open, but very, very methodical, you know, like like the flow state.

  • Like I was I just had my game plan, but that we've been working here Tim Oyama with court drama and Alex and the team.

  • And I just went out there and I just did my job, bro.

  • You know, like, I had things that I needed to do, and I just went in and I did it.

  • And if anything, it made to look a counter in or whatever when I was Let's just say when I went in there, I was, uh I was, uh, thinking fighter.

  • You know, I didn't just go in there and just fight and you could tell, Like in the second in the after the first round, Coach Colin was like, Hey, we're not remember.

  • We're not gonna brought man.

  • We're not going to brawls.

  • Okay?

  • Yes, sir.

  • Yes, sir.

  • You know.

  • So we had different things that we were saying.

  • That he would say in the corner that would keep me from brawling and to stick to the game plan, you know?

  • But I don't feel good.

  • I was like, Wow, this.

  • I could have made this fight so much harder.

  • It definitely men.

  • We'll split second decisions.

  • You know, that that effects every fight.

  • And you made the right decisions, especially with the help of your corner.

  • Kind of giving you those instructions out loud and and kicking you back into gear.

  • That was your first finish into UFC.

  • You know, I think a lot of people don't realize that because even in easy fights, right?

  • Yeah, you know, And I always wanted to get my finish.

  • You know, like, uh, yeah, of course, the W right.

  • But the problem was just getting a WC the anxiety of the judges.

  • You just never know, you know?

  • I mean, men, you just never know.

  • But I mean there to finish fights.

  • And and I think that's that's where the final night of have come along because I just go in there and buy none of my mouthpiece, And it kind of just finished, guys, you know, And, uh, that's not the case with with with the level in the U.

  • S.

  • Cement the kinds of good everyone's tough, everyone strong, everyone's fast.

  • But now who's the thinker who's smarter in there?

  • And I'm so glad that people are able to recognize that my last night, you know, 50 k is always good Thio bank account.

  • All right, but a performance that elevates your status in division is much better.

  • Do you agree?

  • I meant 100% you know, at the end of the demon.

  • And I'm a martial artist and I'm a competitors.

  • Uh, you know, man entertainer minimum.

  • You know, I don't really have the nicest dance moves.

  • You know, I don't really have the cool the cool one liners.

  • You know, like, uh, I'm going there and I'm gonna perform and I display my art the best that I can.

  • No more sharpness.

  • And I'm a fighter.

  • When you heard that Nick Hein was retiring from Emma Mae and you were the last guy you shared the cage with?

  • What was your reaction to that news?

  • Men out on sales?

  • I was very honored, you know, like, um, honored to have shared the cage of him his last his last time, You know, I'm sure.

  • I'm sure.

  • My Because I fought him and and because of this loss that I'm sure that wasn't the reason that I know for sure that he had he had been in this mind.

  • Or maybe it's the last five minutes.

  • Contractor.

  • I don't know whatever was, but, uh, I'm so glad that I was able to show the cage with him, you know, um and so funny thing is, I was talking to him on the way at the way are at the winds.

  • The ceremonial wanes, and ah, had the guy.

  • The guy has a lot of stuff, you know?

  • He's He's a handsome, chiseled looking dude.

  • Uh, he has a lot going on for himself in Germany, you know, many as an actor.

  • He he was telling me he has a show coming on some type of like, food type of show.

  • I don't know what kind of show it is, but he has a lot going on for himself.

  • And, uh, I'm super excited for the next chapter in his career.

  • His life?

  • Yeah, man.

  • I'm glad.

  • Like a lot of these fighters actually have other things going on in their life, you know?

  • And, uh, sure, they could monetize and even, like, a lot of you Wonder where Stun gun, Where's, you know, stun gun?

  • Where is?

  • Yeah, was no.

  • What is he doing?

  • But it was actually one of the same thing.

  • He's in Korea.

  • He's a major star now on television like, Well, yeah, TV personality making cash.

  • And he has his own team that he's going at the same time coaching.

  • So hey, doesn't need to fight anymore.

  • You know, He's had a run, I guess, in the UFC.

  • And it's good to see those types of stories, I believe.

  • Oh, no, for short men and us, you know, people only see 15 minutes at a time of spiders, right?

  • But, you know, you know, this is saying, once you've wrestled, everything in life is easier, Easy, you know, and and and I really I think that applies Thio mixed martial arts because men, this is a tough game and gonna have some thick skin and you have to have the desire and the will tow win and keep coming back even though you get knocked out in front of thousands of millions of people.

  • Uh, and that right there, just that just makes ah makes it easier for for people to be successful.

  • You know, that work ethic and the discipline that we we gain from my charts.

  • Now you get to go back to Singapore for your yes place that you major UFC debut.

  • You know, for someone that has been to that country before, or something that has never been to that country.

  • What makes that pencil great men The first off Singapore is very special to me because of my US super ana.

  • And on to that place is streaking.

  • Have ever been there?

  • No, I've only heard good things about that place.

  • Oh, gosh.

  • It's like the city of the future, bro.

  • It's like, uh, and and it's crazy because they're the size of ah, it's the same size Is, um, on a look of this guy.

  • I don't discuss my seal.

  • Alex spreads.

  • I do it.

  • Sorry about that.

  • Singapore's.

  • That meant the city of the future.

  • Like so we were there for three days straight.

  • Now, uh, we were there for for like a week, and for three days we were trying to find, like, a piece of trash on the ground.

  • And it was crazy.

  • I was like, You know, there's This place is so clean.

  • The land mass is the same size of Guam, but there's no traffic.

  • It's crazy.

  • Same lan dresses Guam, but high 0.5 million people in no traffic.

  • So it's like, uh, definitely stuff in the city of your future.

  • You know, you didn't call anybody out.

  • You know, your last fire.

  • You said that your marriage is gonna take care of all of that.

  • Did you imagine immediately tell you like, Hey, we want you to fight in.

  • L dare use.

  • Was I not immediately after the fight?

  • Like we got the We got the call, quick.

  • You could hear that.

  • A chick that would look at that man.

  • There you go.

  • There's a There's a shoe boat.

  • Sorry.

  • It's all good.

  • It's all good, huh?

  • No.

  • So I'm not the guy.

  • I'm not the type of guy t call people out, But I know I know it is, You know, like, not looking forward ahead of head of opponents, but having to, um not looking ahead of opponents but also to knowing your path to your goals, right?

  • Like what?

  • You're trying to do this fight, and I I even I never thought of fighting Ben Ile de Reus.

  • Ah, we got the call pilot four weeks ago, and it was men I, my manager and my coach would like eight.

  • By the way, you where you're going, we're gonna be fighting on beneath all that.

  • Oh, hell, yeah.

  • If anything, I just saw it as a as a huge opportunity for me.

  • Um uh, you know, formerly ranked that, I think is the right number 16 right now.

  • Great dude.

  • Great martial artists and an opportunity for me to really put a stamp on a friend.

  • The crank is here, and he's Ah, he's not messing around, you know, um, I didn't even think that I was going to get a guy get a guy later.

  • Like late Benny.

  • So if anything, it's kind of like, very humbling that that the U.

  • S.

  • She even offered someone a guy like Benny, you know, asking loud, maybe like, two or three fights still get thio guys near a number.

  • Another name, you know, So Ah, yes.

  • Super stoked.

  • The super excited for this one.

  • Yeah.

  • It seems like this matchup makes a lot of sense for both of you guys.

  • For Ben, the meal.

  • And you at this point in your guys careers, you know?

  • And, uh, yeah, man, It's, like perfect timing for this fight.

  • The perfect place, the biggest names so far in the UFC.

  • Where would this Where would a win over, But he'll put you, you know, in the division, Do you believe?

  • Yeah.

  • So that's a That's a very that's a very, uh, interesting question, because so, like, bet Neil's last fight was against Jude over Dude over was ah was getting on him in the first round, but he ended up turning it around and submitting Jude over.

  • You know, I lost you, Jude over.

  • Uh, but people were saying it was a controversial loss.

  • Right, So it's kind of like, Okay, maybe this is going to be a good match up a CZ.

  • This is this Is this where it's gonna be, You know, just a brief history of, of, of, like, the people that we fought, right, But I think a solid win over by Neil Well, uh, just give me more stock.

  • Thio too.

  • Fighting a guy that under the top 15 level, you know, top 15 pride won't you know, I don't see myself getting getting a guy like the top 10 guy, you know, to me, but at least starting toe play with those those numbers and fighting those guys because the goal of the goal for making my next four fights are for my next three fights is to, uh you have a number by my name.

  • I think.

  • Also that asked, a bring of excitement to your fights helps to get those types of matchups.

  • When you move up the ranking, don't you think so?

  • Because a lot of guys they will win.

  • But it takes them so long because their fights are not that exciting.

  • You know, they're winning, but it's not in an exciting way.

  • Do you believe that's a benefit for you as you climb the rankings?

  • You know, a Zeman, you know, as much as the sport is a competitive sport, you know, it's it's going out there and getting the W's for man.

  • You gotta go in there and you gotta entertain, you know, And you gotta entertain your fighters.

  • And like I said, I don't have the one punch liners.

  • I don't have the best dance moves, you know, to walk out to the cage or I can do backflips during fights.

  • You know what I can do and what I can do And what my style consistent is I'm going to get in your face and I'm gonna put you and let me try to stop you.

  • You know, on people people like that, you know, And it's it's not like I'm tryingto make people like me for my fighting style.

  • If anything, it is so humbling.

  • And it's so cool that people appreciate the heart and the will that I put in every fight.

  • Uh, and it's so nice brought down.

  • If I can explain human, it's just so nice man have been doing it for so long that that people appreciate it, you know?

  • I mean, you know, and it's so cool that people see me see the heart and the will that I put in every single time that they get into the cage.

  • Ana.

  • Yeah, you know, And if that's what's getting me these these higher profile fights by all means, man.

  • Give them all to me, bro.

  • You know, like, uh, but at the end of the day, I got it.

  • I got to get these W's you know, I mean, and being here with the team Oyama, they're helping me with mice.

  • They're not changing my style at all.

  • Help me get these hippies winds get the stoppages.

  • Yeah, it seemed like Team Oyama.

  • They're definitely not 10 years style, but they're kind of putting some control to it.

  • Some controlled chaos, right?

  • Yeah, you know, you know, So it's crazy, right?

  • All of my fights, right?

  • I've never I never kicked.

  • I never throw.

  • Okay?

  • And my last fight, I threw more kicks.

  • And I find that I have in my whole career because I think what happened was, I think, like, three weeks into camp for Nick hein, I was hitting pads, and, uh, you know, I'm I'm all hands, you know, like I hate kicking because I hate hurting my feet, you know, like, I don't want to kick some of the l one of my feet and I can't move, you know?

  • So I was hitting pads and coaches like, Okay, Larry, let's kick and I was taking the pads, and there were the pad orders are Yo, you got a freaking freaking power kick in like, Well, I got island legs, you know?

  • They mean so it was just one of those things that we just, you know, like I'm discovering it.

  • And now putting even more tools together.

  • You know, everybody knows you're from the islands, you know, UFC, Guam, UFC, Hawaii.

  • You know, what do you think's gonna happen first, man?

  • You see bombs, praying.

  • Never gonna happen.

  • Way don't have.

  • Ah, we don't have a venue big enough.

  • But, man, you see Hawaii.

  • When I saw that Max Holloway was like, what was asking friends, a man pleases.

  • Do that.

  • Let's do that deal.

  • I wouldn't have to fight it away, man.

  • That please put put.

  • Even if it's the first fight on the cardio.

  • Let me let me find it.

  • But don't let me find a whole fellow Hawaiian, You know, like when we fight someone else, but, um well, I would like to fight in.

  • I mean, this man has to do all the freaky champs come out of oil, like, you know, like, there's a lot of tough looking guys in our region, you know, and not even mentioning like Tonga and Samoa.

  • And, you know, Aiso over there in New Zealand, Australia.

  • They're doing it from the that come from the island.

  • You know I love you.

  • Understand?

  • Like, the island nations have been putting it down for a long, long time, you know?

  • Oh, man, for sure.

  • At the highest level, You know, one.

  • Let's do far.

  • Let you go, men.

  • There's in Mm.

  • A.

  • There's a lots of different types of competitors, you know, at this point in your career, you know, you've been fighting for many years now, do you feel like you're still a martial artist or do you kind of have a little bit more of a price fighter mentality in your mind?

  • That's a very good question, bro, because I feel I feel you have to have a balance of a little bit of everything, you know, like, uh, there's there, sport.

  • I talked about it in a previously for and the guys on you, You gotta dig down deep and you gotta fight.

  • That's pillar number one Or number two.

  • You gotta be a martial artist.

  • When you got a come into the gym with a white boat mentality toe always constantly learning.

  • You know, you're always constantly learning with no ego.

  • Uh, number three.

  • You gotta be a competitors.

  • Dude, you gotta learn howto win, because in this game, you could You could be the you could have all the file at night if you want And all the performances, man.

  • But you can you can get cut.

  • You cut you you don't win, you know?

  • So you have them, then you know you gotta be after you gotta treat yourself second athlete gonna eat like an athlete.

  • You gotta, uh you gotta train like an athlete.

  • So these four pillars, you know, I mean on then that fifth pillar.

  • It's kind of like now you gotta be a price, right, everyone?

  • That's the first, you know.

  • Now there's a B M F title.

  • There is.

  • Ah, they're everyone's asking, you know, for for the big bucks.

  • And listen it.

  • I'll get back to you on that when I do get to that level.

  • But right now, man, I'm just I'm really enjoying the process for them, and I'm loving everything.

  • And in that time, when that time comes.

  • I definitely have the team and the management team.

  • And the coach is to ah no guide me in the right direction.

  • You know, because all I really want to do is I want to compete and fight this much as I can.

  • Well, you know, maybe if you come out of this fight Ah, with nothing wrong.

  • You know, you could make a quick turn around and you could get on that so hard, Bustan.

  • And not so not so but South Korea.

  • But yeah, I do.

  • I saw December 4 21st 21st.

  • Even better, dude.

  • Even better.

  • So that's the plan, man.

  • Just President, Fingers, Let's listen.

  • Let's get this.

  • Let's get this.

  • Ah, let's get this stuff.

  • You know, you and I would love to fight in career.

  • You definitely man.

  • What?

  • You got a lot of fans here, man.

  • A lot of people know you who you are in Korea, so Ah, Zumba be awesome to see men because I think it's fun.

  • A lot of ah lot of Korean tough as Koreans, Gabe, You know, I always tell people like like no man the curry and fighters that I've fought all the time there's no freakin quit in them.

  • It's crazy.

  • It's still crazy.

  • It's like you're really fighting warriors.

  • That and I I have to appreciate that, bro.

  • And and, uh, that'll never change, then, Yeah, it's something that I feel that the Islanders they can relate with Koreans and Islanders.

  • They relate in that mentality.

  • And, you know, that's why the creams don't be so popular because of that.

  • Yeah, for sure.

  • Well, and, you know, and and, uh, he yuan and the mentality rate of like, I know we're talking about Korean zombie, You're nobody.

  • Uh, he keeps fighting and he doesn't.

  • You know, he keeps fighting till the end, and he tries to finish guys, you know, and sometimes your greatest weakness.

  • But it's also your greatest straight when, you know, like like the last few seconds when the five years, You know.

  • I mean, you know, he was whipping a year's asked, and it was just one of those things, man.

  • But, you know, you live in, you die by the sword, and that's what makes the Korean zombie the Koreans on me.

  • The form makes the Islanders and the Asians all the tough fighters, you know, October 26.

  • You don't a Singapore UFC on ESPN plus 20 franc.

  • Man is always a pleasure, always, always a pleasure.

  • But there is always awesome.

  • And, uh, you know, I'm always rooting for you.

  • You know, You I guess you're not supposed to root for fighters.

  • But hey, I think so.

  • You have a good day, brother.
