  • had over one.

  • Welcome to another video.

  • Now, today we're taking a look back at a time before I am D released their risin based AP use the best AP you that Sir CPU with a built in graphics processing unit, you could buy wasthe E 12 98 100 or four core processor that, to be honest, I didn't really do so well in a couple of reviews that I've seen, namely, text Pop gave it 20 out of 100 so it was never really considered a must have item.

  • Put it that way today.

  • I thought we'd take a look back at this thing.

  • Talk about its current position on the market and why in 2000 and 19 it still makes absolutely no sense that by one more so now than ever.

  • So when it launched a couple of years ago, the 8 12 98 100 was based on a refined bulldozer architecture, though this didn't really account for much.

  • See, CPU performance wasn't really that fantastic, and its onboard graphics, while they were capable of playing some games orbit with lower resolution and settings, weren't too impressive either.

  • On for a cost of £100 at least or dollars.

  • This didn't make it too appealing, especially considering you had to purchase a brand new AM four motherboard with DDR four memory.

  • It's also released at a time when the rise in 3 1200 was available on the X for 9 50 was also kicking about to this, of course, being pretty much the same CPU just without the onboard graphics.

  • As you well know, we have a whole host of body options available on I am four, including the most recently released 200 G e Athlon processor.

  • This gives us a better idea of where the older a 12 98 100 still stands on the market.

  • So let's get into it in a little more detail and discuss why Now more than ever, this really doesn't make any sense.

  • We'll also be checking out the performance, of course, comparing it to these other badges am four options and then, of course, concluding by discussing why you probably shouldn't buy one of these.

  • So when it launched two retail in mid 2017 the 8 12 98 100 could only really be compared to the likes of Intel's budget Pentium G 45 60 which in all honesty wiped the floor with its CPU performance.

  • Wise on the onboard are seven graphics of the 8 12 was It's Only Saving Grace.

  • Since then, though, we've seen the introduction of the 200 g E and 2200 g, which are both great in their own respects.

  • Another two.

  • I'll be comparing the aging a 12 98 102 today.

  • Reason being You can still buy this brand new as well as its slightly cheaper, slightly worse and slightly more energy efficient little brother.

  • The 35 What.

  • 9800 e.

  • In fact, this version is the more prevalent on the market, and we'll perform a little worse considering the Lover Clock speeds.

  • I have the 65 what 9800 model?

  • That everything in this video should apply to the 9800 e as well, considering that steel costs £100 or dollars and new, compare that to the Athlon 200 g e and rise in twenty two hundred three.

  • And yet the A 12 really doesn't seem to make that much sense.

  • Not that it ever did, considering the 9800 or 9800 e is priced the highest.

  • It should perform the best, right?

  • Of course not.

  • Don't be silly.

  • This video is merely a little tap on the shoulder of anyone who may have an ounce of consideration for the aging.

  • A 12 to say, Hey, don't buy that.

  • It also acts as a sort of last Harar to a somewhat legendary lineup of prison AP use.

  • Whether that be a good or bad send off is up to you.

  • So starting with Price and you'll often find both the Athlon 200 g e and 2200 chief for less brand new on with the 200 g e being so chief anyway, scouring the used market wouldn't yield much of a difference, despite the 9800 still costing the most.

  • Then it comes predictably last in our sin, a bench CPU test.

  • Considering that they all share the AM for Platform two, there's no use in saying, Oh, well, I can save on motherboard or RAM costs if I opt for the 9800 next up, I rendered a 32nd 60 f ps 10 80 p premiere Pro clip and found that once again our 9800 came last.

  • It wasn't terribly slow and was, in fact still usable for some light editing.

  • But in comparison, it didn't hold up well because the 35 what 9800 e is actually more common these days.

  • I'm gonna go ahead and say that that should perform roughly 10% less overall than the standard 9800 but it doesn't cost any less, so it's just us bad of a purchase in games.

  • The same can be set.

  • Take about 10% off of the 98 hundreds frame rate to get an idea off the 9800 ease performance in CS Go First of all, at 7 20 p.

  • With a mix of high and some very high settings, we saw pretty respectable average of 83 from the 9800 with 1% and 10.1% lows of 51 25 respectively.

  • This means that despite the fair average, there were certainly some stature to be aware off.

  • The Athlon actually performed a little worse with 69 f b s, but hey, that's still at least 60 and again had a few issues with stutter.

  • This is, of course, a two core CPU with four threads.

  • These two will often switch places here in games with the 9800 sometimes victorious and vice versa.

  • As expected, the 2200 G Paul's way ahead.

  • Now we we don't really need to check out that many games to make the point here, but nonetheless, let's move on to pub G 7 20 p once again here, with a few settings on low and a few on very low.

  • It's the same story as before, with the 8 12 98 100 sitting right in the middle.

  • Let's not forget in most cases, and here in the UK, at least, the rise in 3 22 100 G is cheaper than the 12 as well.

  • He offers a significant performance increase.

  • Another reason why I wanted to make this whole comparison is because I never really considered how big the gap would possibly be between the last of the prison AP use and the current entry line up before in fortnight, the aging a 12 once again found a nice middle ground between both the $55 Athlon and the $100 rise in and didn't exhibit too much stutter.

  • There was the occasional hiccup, but nothing too bad.

  • But at this point, I can't help but feel using this.

  • AP You is like trying to perform CPR on a chicken nugget.

  • You can try all you want to revive it, but it's not coming back.

  • The final nail in the coffin here lies within Overwatch, because this is one of the examples where by the Athlon outperforms the 9800.

  • This will happen on occasion, and you can therefore expect this to be the case with the 9800 E as well.

  • So why did I test this out now?

  • Well, to be honest, I actually forgot the A 12 existed for a while, and I wanted to look back at it, considering you can still buy it new.

  • And not only that, but it hasn't really changed in price.

  • Are there any reasons why 1 may consider it?

  • Well, it's low power, but so is the 200 G A.

  • The same applies when, considering it's used market price, it can be found for much cheaper than the Athlon can know in considering it shares the same am for platform.

  • You'd be doing yourself an injustice by buying it.

  • If we were to see a random price drop from a M D, for example, toe £50 or dollars for the 8 12 Maybe it would be worth it, considering it's similar to the Athlon 200 g E.

  • When it comes to games.

  • Specifically, though, having said that, I'd still pick the Athlon for it's slightly better CPU capabilities, especially if you want to add a cheap, discreet GPU like a 10 30 or are expired 50 later on.

  • So, guys, there we have it.

  • Hope you've enjoyed a look back at the excavator, a 12 98 100 the last in a long line up of present AP use from a M.

  • D.

  • Let me know if you own one of these, what your experience has been like owning it, whether you've over clocked it or not, something I didn't do in this video, because I don't think that's necessarily going to be a priority at this price point.

  • But having said that, if you enjoy this lever like on it, leave a dislike.

  • If you didn't subscribe to the channel, if you haven't done so already.

  • I apologize for the lack of upload lately, but I've accumulated quite a lot of hardware over the past couple of years and, as you can imagine, and I'm just trying to get rid of Sam or sell some, so to speak before I ordering loads more.

  • So I need to clear some room.

  • I've been busy doing that.

  • So as always, thank you very much.

  • I'll see you all in the next one.
