Reading Tips for Studying English

Before you read:

1. Read and think about the title.

If there are any pictures, look carefully at them.

2. Ask yourself questions. For example:

a. What does the title tell me about the article?

b. What will I learn from reading the article?

When you read:

1. Look for the answers to your questions.

2. If you see a new word or a difficult sentence, try to guess its meaning.

Although this practice takes time, it may help you understand better.

After you read:

1. Talk about the main idea of the article.

2. Ask your classmates or teacher if you still have questions.

3. Go over the article again. By doing this, you will learn better.
