These include overseeing and assessing the financial operations of the organization you're applying to join, including payroll expenses, invoicing, work and company transactions. Conduct appraisals for all staff that you are responsible for those people whom you are looking after within the finance team or department. You'll also have to track the financial performance of the company and look for ways to improve profitability; assess the financial risk, and also arrange for auditing and company tax work to be completed by liaising with external firms and auditors. So within the answers that are coming right now, I have ensured that all of those key skills and attributes are included within the answers. So take notes and prepare for the following finance manager interview questions. So the first question will be “Tell me about yourself and while you make a good finance manager?” So, this will be the first interview question at your finance manager interview. So we need to make sure it's rock solid, and it is positive in nature and it demonstrates that you will make a good finance manager. Here's my suggested answer: “To work as a Finance Manager, not only do you need to be passionate about working with accounts, but you also need great attention to detail skills, a methodical and thorough approach to all tasks and an ability to ensure the team you are managing, do everything to a high standard. I believe I have all of those attributes and being some who is passionate about my work, I can be entrusted to meet your financial organizational aims and objectives. I am extremely hard working, I take responsibility for everything I do, and I can also be relied upon to monitor the day-to-day financial operations whilst also ensuring all financial policies and procedures are adhered to by your company.” That’s a great answer! Its in-depth, gets you off to a flying start during your finance manager interview. So, you can either take notes whilst I give you these answers, or if you want to stick around I’ll say where you can download the full set of my 20 finance manager interview questions as we progressed through the tutorial. So next question. So, “Why do you want to work for, or what attracted you to our company?” And this is a guaranteed interview question during your finance manager interview. Here is my suggested answer. “The main thing that attracted me to your company when I saw the position advertised, was the high standing you hold within your industry. It is clear you are an organization who sets high standards, something which is vital to the incoming Finance Manager. If I am successful, then I will have the peace of mind I will be working as the Finance Manager for a company who will adhere by the rules, support me in my role and also continually look for ways to improve the organizations finances and their financial policies. So those are great reasons why you want to work for their particular company, and I'm sure you agree with me, when you are working as a finance manager, the standards have to be set very high! So you want to work for an organisation who is going to support you in your role. That's very important. Next question: What will you bring to the role of finance manager? And this might be asked in another way. What are your key strengths? What makes you the ideal candidate? Here is my suggested answer to this question. “I believe I will bring three specific things to the role. Firstly, I will bring sound financial knowledge, an in-depth understanding and many years’ expertise from within the financial sector. Secondly, I will bring an ability to manage, lead and inspire everyone within the finance team to carry out their duties in the best interests of your company with the main focus on helping you to grow and thrive within your industry. Thirdly, I will bring great attention to detail and an insistence that everything financial must be completed to a very high standard. I feel quite strongly that, if you employ me as your Finance Manager you will look back in 12 months’ time and view my appointment as positive one.” Great answer to that question! Now I'm going to give you another two finance manager interview questions. Please do stick around and watch them because they're tough questions and I've got some great answers for them. And if you want to download my full set of 20 finance manager interview questions, there’s a link that has appeared right there in the top right hand corner of the video. If you click that, it will take through to my website where you can find all of them. But before you do that, let's get onto the next two questions. What is your understanding of the finance manager role and are you ready for the challenge? So this is a common question during finance manager interviews and it assesses whether you've actually read the job description. Do you know what they are looking for in terms of the person specification? So here is my suggested answer. A great answer to this question! “As your Finance Manager, I will be required to monitor the day-to-day financial operations within the organization and ensure all payroll, invoicing and other financial transactions are completed successfully and on time. I will also be required to oversee all finance staff within the team, including financial assistants and accountants. Other responsibilities include facilitating auditing, banking, assessing and minimizing financial risk, creating financial reports and also advising the board of directors so they can make sound financial decisions in the best interests of the company. It will also be my duty to ensure the company adheres to all financial regulations, and I will be personally responsible for creating financial policies and also keeping up-to-date with developments from within the financial industry. I am one hundred percent ready for the challenge, and having studied the person specification in detail, I have the necessary skills, qualities and attributes to excel within the role.” Good answer to that question. Next one, when making a decision that has a wide impact across different parts of our organization, what factors would you consider? So as a finance manager, you will get to make some important decisions in relation to the financial policies of the company. So they want to know what would you consider when you were making those important decisions? Here's my sensible, intelligent answer to this question. “I would first of all consider the impact my decision would have on the organization as a whole, and also the specific individuals it would affect. There would be times where the decisions I would make as a Finance Manager would just need to be implemented, especially in respect of financial conduct or regulation. However, prior to making important organizational-wide decisions, I would conduct a consultation process, especially with senior managers to decide how the decision or change would impact on them and their plans. My priority would always be the financial health of the organization, and I would need to discuss important decisions with key individuals first before implementing them. My aim is to always work with people to make their lives easier, not against them.” So that's a great answer because it shows that you are not just going in gung-ho, to make changes because you are a finance manager. You are working in harmony with the directors, the board of directors and the senior management team, and that's the kind of person I would suggest they want to employ. So, you work together when making these decisions. So, if you’d like 20 finance manager interview questions, click the link below the video.
