Hi this is Tutor Nick P and this is Proverbs 153. The proverb today is seeing
is believing. Okay. Let's take a look at the note here. We use this proverb seeing
is believing in a couple of ways. First people often use it to show that one is
skeptical or doubtful about what someone has said. In this case, we mean that
unless we see it, we will never believe it. So unless we see it with our own eyes,
we're just not going to believe it. The second way it is used is to simply
express that the best way to believe something or at least to get people to
believe something is by seeing it or experiencing it. Meaning so, we also use
it that way. That the only way people believe is by seeing it or believing it.
Once seen with one's own eyes, it is hard to deny. Okay. So um let's continue. Some
say this problem goes all the way back to the 1600s. All right. And we actually
have three examples to cover all this. So here's example number one. Somebody might
say I'm skeptical of the existence of aliens, I think most of the photos are
fake. You know this sometimes people say this. If I ever personally encounter one,
I may change my mind. Seeing is believing. So this kind of
covers the idea. It definitely covers the idea of people being skeptical, but it
also covers the idea that if you see it, you might believe it. Or number two. The
best way for getting people to believe what you are talking about is to show
them undeniable proof. Seeing is believing. So it's kind of more
like the second way. So you want people to believe. You've got to really show
them and then, then they will really believe at that point. Or number three
here. Many people who don't believe in ghosts will often say seeing is
believing. Any time like a ghost topic comes up and there's somebody that says
they think yeah. It's all nonsense. You know maybe people's eyes are playing
tricks on them or something like that. They will say well you know, seeing is
believing. So maybe if they seen it themselves you know, maybe they might
believe it. Okay. Anyway, I hope you got it. I hope it was clear. Thank you for your time. Bye-
bye.
