If someone is leaning toward or towards something , he or she is tending to be in favor of a particular opinion, decision, or support for someone or something. . That's what they say. They're leaning towards there. They're moving in that direction and the second meaning is the more literal meaning. Which is probably where we get the first meaning from. The second meaning is to bend or tilt or move one's body towards something. So you say you lean. So you can literally mean like somebody could get a lien against the wall. They can put all their body weight against the wall. So you can lean towards something. So again if you're leaning, it means you're moving in that direction. So the same thing with. You know , making a decision or an opinion about something. Maybe you haven't 100% firmly decided or have made up your mind but you're kind of moving in that direction. You're leaning that way. Okay. So let's look at several examples. We've got four examples of how we use this today. Number one. I have not decided who I'm going to vote for , but I am leaning toward the libertarian candidate. Yeah. We hear this at election time all the time. A lot of people said they didn't make up their mind yet. Probably they didn't really pay attention. I think most people don't really start paying attention to the candidates until probably like the last three months. Usually once the you know, the candidates are chosen for each party. And so most people get serious and then they might start listening to some debates and that could sway them either this way or that way. But you know , they may be leaning one way or another. That's what they always say though that you might hear that. Some people say they didn't make up their mind at all. But some people say I mean I didn't make up my mind, but I think I think I might go that way. I'm that way. Okay. Yeah. So Libertarian candidate of course remember the main ones in the US are the Republicans and the Democrats. Libertarian is really like the third sort of party in line. Usually it ends up being more of like a protest vote. If they don't like the other two, but I don't know some people might vote for that party anyway. Let's continue. Number two . Here I am planning an overseas vacation and I have not decided where I'm going to go. So they know they want to go on vacation. They know they want to be overseas but they may be this so obviously they didn't probably buy the tickets yet. It's not confirmed yet. However, I am leaning towards going to Italy you know, maybe that was one of the places that they had in mind and they if they you know, wherever he's going with if they don't decide another way for another reason that's probably where they are going to go. Okay. Let's look at number three. He leaned his body toward the Tower of Pisa, so he could pretend he was holding it up for a photo. Yeah. Of course, this is the Leaning Tower of Pisa. You know, the famous one that always looks like it's on a tilt. And if you've ever gone there you know that a lot of people always pretend like they're holding it up. They're always making a photo like this. And they lean towards that way and from a distance actually the photos don't look too bad. You see a lot of people do this. Most people when they go there this is one of them. I guess it'd sort of a funny photo that they will do. Almost everybody thinks of it. Most people do it and to be honest it doesn't look that bad. I've seen it. I've taken photos that way and it actually looks pretty good. Okay . Let's look at number four here. Even though he is a Republican he tends to lean left on some issues. So maybe he's a Republican maybe most of the time he votes Republican, but there's a few issues where maybe he might go the other way. So he might throw his support the other way. Then we say they might lean the other way. Okay. Anyway, I hope it's clear. I hope you got it. Thank you for your time. bye-bye.
