  • Hi this is Tutor Nick P and this is Noun Phrase 71. The noun phrase today

  • is stage-fright. Okay. Let's take a look at the note here.

  • if someone experiences stage fright he or she gets afraid before having to face

  • an audience. Okay. Let's take a look at the note here. Let's continue. Let's look at example

  • number one. If you want to be a professional singer you must get over

  • your stage fright. Yeah. I think if I remember correctly. I think the old

  • singer Carly Simon used to have stage fright sometimes. She might even cancelled

  • some tours if I remember correctly. A long time ago. Orr there was a movie

  • called ; Coyote Ugly' I remember years ago where the main girl was you know, trying

  • to make it big but that was her biggest problem is that she had stage fright too.

  • So again if you want to be a performer at all you can't have stage fright. I

  • also remember the comedian, Jerry Seinfeld he always used to have a ...he used to ....

  • he used to tell his jokes where yeah that once he seen a list of the

  • things that scared people the most and actually giving a speech or doing

  • something in front of an audience was actually number one. And number two was

  • death and he was trying to make a joke out of that that people are more afraid

  • of giving a speech in front of an audience or you know or performing in

  • front of an audience than they are of dying. So well anyway, let's go on. Let's

  • look at example number two. Even though he experienced some stage fright , Jack

  • was able to get his nervousness under control and give a good speech. Yeah.

  • Sometimes you can still have stage fright and still go out and do it. And

  • still hopefully go out and not mess up or not stumble over your words or

  • something like that. Okay good. Let's look at the third one here. They often tell

  • someone who is going to give a speech if you want to control your nervousness to

  • imagine the audience in their underwear. Yeah. I never really thought this might

  • work out. Personally I think this would be very distracting, but you often heard

  • people say that. You know if you're too nervous just just imagine the whole

  • audience is in her underwear that would be very , very distracting.

  • But anyway that's what they do say. Okay. I hope you got it. I hope it's clear.

  • Thank you for your time. Bye-bye.
