So, today we're going to be talking about the new MacBook Air.

我認為第一代MacBook Air，也就是08, 09年發表的那台 塑造了整個筆電產業

The original MacBook Air, from '08, 09', was a device that I think really shaped the industry.

那是第一台擁有優異鍵盤和觸控版的輕薄筆電

It was the first thin and light computer out there that had a good keyboard, good trackpad,

在方便攜帶的尺寸中提供非常棒的使用體驗

and was like a good overall experience in a really portable package.

I really think it just redefined what laptops could, and should do.

And... When this thing came out - the old one - when it came out,

I remember it was a time period where people would ask me: "What computer should I get?"

Just family and friends, and even though I didn't like MacOS at the time,

I would say there is a computer out there, called the MacBook Air.

That if you're not dead-set on Windows, I highly recommend this device.

因為對很多人來說，當習慣了Mac的系統之後，你將會重新愛上電腦

Because, for a lot people, once you get used to MacOS, you will really like the computer overall.

而我因此推坑了很多家人跟朋友

And I sent a lot of family and friends down that road.

有一點抱歉啦 因為他們很多人現在都陷進蘋果的生態系回不去了

I kind of regret it, because a lot of them ended up getting stuck in the Apple ecosystem.

這可能是我的錯

And it was probably my fault.

但MacBook Air是台很棒的筆電，推薦它真的容易

But it was a really good device, it was so easy to recommend.

快轉9, 10年之後

Fast forward 9, 10 years later;

新的MacBook Air出來了

The new MacBook Air.

這台機器跟原本那台可是有不小的差異

Now, this is a device that is quite different from the old one.

它有相同的名字，而我想很多人可能會先入為主地認為

It has the same name and I think a lot of people had this preconceived notion

這台應該也要是蘋果裡面最入門、最初階的筆電

That it should once again be this entry-level, base-model MacBook

價格應該要相對親民的

That should be relatively affordable.

然而...它並不是 它身價可是有1200美金

And... It kind of isn't, at $1200.

我先快速的介紹一下它的硬體

So, I'm just going to talk about the hardware real quick.

這是一台很棒的筆電 它雖然貴，但組裝品質非常優秀

It is a great laptop, it's expensive, but the build quality is excellent.

不遜於任何一台近期的MacBook系列

It's on par with any of the new MacBooks from the last couple of years.

而且你還看不出來這台是用回收的鋁合金製造的

And you wouldn't be able to tell it's actually made from recycled Aluminum.

這台有TouchID，用一顆T2晶片控制

It's got Touch ID, controlled by the T2 chip on the inside.

兩個Thunderbolt 3連接孔：而這點值得注意的是

It has two Thunderbolt 3 ports - And on that note;

如果你是在12吋MacBook和13吋MacBook Air中做選擇

If you're trying to decide between the 12" MacBook and the 13" MacBook Air,

我強烈推薦MacBook Air，就是因為這個多出來的孔

I highly recommend the MacBook Air over the 12" just because of that extra port.

12吋MacBook上的唯一這個孔

The single port on the 12" MacBook -

- 我一直指那邊是因為我正在用它來錄音 -

I keep pointing over there because I'm using it to record the audio -

對很多人來說只有一個連接孔真的太少了

But the single port on that machine is limiting for a lot of people.

所以如果可以的話，我會選擇MacBook Air

So if you can, my vote goes to the MacBook Air.

這台的效能非常好，其實還超出我的預期

The performance on it is really good, it's actually better than I thought it would be.

這台配備了Y系列處理器，而Y系列通常不會搭配風扇

So this is running a Y-Processor and normally Y-Processors run without fans and stuff like that

結果他們真的在MacBook Air上放顆風扇

Turns out, they are running a fan on the MacBook Air

而有了風扇確實改進了Y系列處理器的能力

And the presence of that fan changes what this processor can do.

通常Y系列處理器只能稍微把時脈稍微提昇一下子

So normally, on a Y-Processor, you can only run Boost Clock for a little bit of time.

然後過熱，時脈就降下來了

It gets hot, drops back down

然而現在有了風扇，我們就可以維持在較高的時脈

Because of this fan, you're able to maintain that Boost Clock,

但當然我們就會在大量運算的時候聽到風扇的噪音

And because it has a fan, it is audible when you push it hard enough.

但總之效能就是不錯 另外，硬碟讀寫的速度也很快

But if performs quite well and the storage is also fast.

至於螢幕呢？終於是用Retina螢幕了，非常的漂亮與銳利

The screen is finally Retina, it's nice and sharp,

但我認為身為一台MacBook，螢幕應該要再亮一些

But it's dimmer than I expected it would be from a MacBook

可能我們被其他螢幕很亮麗的MacBook寵壞了吧

And maybe we've been spoiled with a lot of really bright screens from MacBooks

但甚至12吋的MacBook還比這台Air亮，這有一點奇怪啊

But even the 12" MacBook has a brighter screen than the MacBook Air, which is a little bit strange.

顏色很棒，沒話說，就是亮度有點低於我的期望

The colors are good, it's just that the brightness is not as bright as I was hoping it to be.

鍵盤跟預期一樣，是蝶式鍵盤

The keyboard is as expected, it's got Butterfly switches

這鍵盤就是：如果你強迫使用它、像是你沒有其他鍵盤可用

It really is a keyboard that if you were forced to use - like if you were not allowed to used any other keyboard

只能被迫使用這種蝶式鍵盤的話

And you were forced to use the Apple Butterfly switch keyboard -

我覺得大部分人終究會習慣並學會喜歡上它的

I think most people will get used to it and learn to like it.

只是對於用習慣其他鍵盤的人 最初的學習曲線會很陡峭

It's just that initial learning curve can be steep for some people that are coming from completely different types of keyboards

觸控版很棒，有Force Touch 我認為這點蘋果是領先整個筆電業界的

The trackpad is also great, uses Force Touch, and I'd consider Apple to be the leaders in the whole laptop industry

他們一直有著特別優秀的觸控版和類似的產品

When it comes to trackpads and stuff like that.

喇叭也令人印象深刻

The speakers are also quite impressive.

我已經被養成認為蘋果就是該有好的喇叭了 而這次的喇叭也沒讓我失望

I've kind of grown to expect really good speakers from Apple products, and this does not disappoint.

續航力也如預期持久，用Y系列處理器並不會吃太多電

And battery life, also strong as expected, it's running a Y-Processor, so nothing too demanding.

我大概可以持續使用8.5個小時，螢幕亮度在250 nits

I'm able to get 8.5 hours, screen at 250 nits.

這表現大約是輕薄筆電產品中的均標

So this is kind of like in the middle-of-the-pack, when it comes to industry, for thin and light Ultrabooks.

沒有到特別久，如果你預期有超強的續航力，你可能會失望

It's not super-long, if you're expecting like a crazy long battery life, you're not going to get that.

I think the higher resolution screen uses a lot more power than you would expect,

But a solid full-day battery on the MacBook Air.

Now, so far, the product seems very good right?

I mean there's nothing I have to really complain about it, except for the price.

And this is where I want to spend the majority of this video.

這台身價$1200美金，並不是說一台筆電不能賣這個價錢

This is a $1200 device, and there's nothing inherently wrong with a $1200 laptop, right?

很多不同的廠商也賣$1200美金的筆電，問題在於這是蘋果最便宜的筆電

Lots of different companies sell $1200 laptops, but it's the fact that this is the cheapest laptop that Apple sells.

讓你進入蘋果的生態系的筆電

That you can get into the Apple ecosystem.

至少是新式的筆電 -他們仍在賣這個古董、也不該再繼續賣-

At least the modern laptop - They still sell this ancient relic of a device, which they shouldn't anymore -

But if you want a current Apple MacBook,

This is the cheapest one, and that is a problem.

Because on the market right now, in 2018, times are different, it's no longer 2008, or 2009.

There are so many companies out there that are making really good thin and light laptops,

That have great keyboards, great trackpads, great screens.

Every single one on this table is excellent.

That this device - The MacBook Air - is no longer this magical device that I can just openly recommend to people

重點是，他們為什麼會賣這台的理由

Now, here's the thing, the reason why they can sell this device,

他們為什麼可以打造身價$1200美金的入門款筆電

The reason why they can make a $1200 entry model laptop,

是因為在現在，有非常多人會主動把Mac作業系統當作主要考量

Is that right now, in this day and age, there are so many people who actively seek MacOS as their primary choice,

有很多人喜歡Mac系統勝過Windows，我也是其中一人

There are so many people that love MacOS - I'm one of them - who prefers MacOS over Windows.

所以他們會賣這台、還很好賣

So they're going to sell this, easily.

不管競爭者是否有更好的硬體配備、或是價格是否親民

It doesn't matter if competitors have better hardware, or if they are priced better,

甚至MacBook Air沒有出眾的價值都不重要

It almost doesn't even matter that the MacBook Air is not a particularly good value

重要的是，它有Mac系統

What does matter is that it has MacOS

而我認為那正是很多人在乎的點、唯一在乎的點

And I think for a lot of people, that's what they're looking for, that's all they're looking for.

如果你在找輕薄筆電，而用哪種作業系統並不重要的話

Now, if you're in the market for any kind of Ultrabook, and operating system is not like a thing you really care about,

我不會推薦MacBook Air，你可以買任何一台其他用Windows系統的筆電

I would not recommend the MacBook Air, you can get any one of these other Windows laptops,

我保證CP值都比MacBook Air高

And you are guaranteed to have better value for your money

但如果你在找Mac系統的筆電，或是喜愛使用Mac系統

But if you're looking for MacOS, or if you prefer MacOS,

就是這台了，這台就是你需要入手的 因為蘋果迫使我們選擇這產品

This is it, this is the one that you have to get, because Apple forced this product onto us

這是很棒的筆電 雖然很貴，仍是好產品

It's a great product - It's expensive - but it's a great product

只是遺憾在這個時間點我們只有這個選擇

It just unfortunate that it's the only one we can pick from at this point.
