Here's a big Tyra tip in how to ask for a raise.

究竟爭取加薪該怎麼做？這是我的秘訣分享

First, I'm gonna tell you what not to do.

首先我得告訴你不該做什麼：

Do not go to your boss or employer and say,

不要找上老闆然後說

"I can't pay my bills... I need to do this for my kid..."

你付不起帳單、為了孩子我需要這次加薪、

"I just need this because I just need to shop more..."

我需要加薪才能負擔更多購物支出、

"I can't pay my car payment..."

我負擔不起我買的車......

It is not your employer's interest,

這些你的雇主都不在乎，

their personal interest, to actually really truly care for that,

你個人層面的利益其實不在他的考量之內

and it's not necessarily gonna make them open up the pockets of that company to pay you for that.

他們不太可能會因此擴增公司支出、只為支付你多一點薪水

You need to sit there and talk about your value.

你必須好好和老闆坐下來，談談你這位員工的價值

Talk about what you have done that has increased revenues,

談談你為公司營收帶來何種正面影響、

increased engagement, or how you've been working

為品牌曝光做了什麼，或者你辛勤工作的事實──

from nine to nine, even though you are only supposed to be working from nine to six.

早上九點上班、晚上九點下班，儘管你傍晚六點就該下班了

And that you are a salaried employee,

再者，你是領固定薪資的員工，

so it's not like you're getting more money.

制度下的薪水不太可能調漲

And based on your input, into that company,

而有鑑於你對公司的投入，

and based on the metrics and the things that have happened because of the things that you were doing,

不管是就評鑑標準或工作成效來看皆然，

that's why you deserve the raise.

這才是為什麼你值得這次加薪

You don't need a raise, deserve a raise.

你不是「需要」加薪，而是「值得」被加薪

Persistence is crucial.

你必須堅持不懈

You have a goal. You have a dream. You have a desire.

你設下了目標、你懷抱著夢想、你渴望著什麼，

You see that thing over there and you want it so bad.

你多麼期盼抵達彼端

It is so important to keep on keeping on,

堅持下去、努力不懈非常重要，

especially when you feel like crap

當你沮喪失意時更是如此，

and you feel like nothing that you are doing is getting you there.

當你覺得現在所做的一切彷彿都只是原地踏步

But one thing that my mother told me is,

我的母親曾經這麼告訴我：

it's not always about going through the front door.

追尋夢想的道路不可能永遠都是筆直的，

So the dream? It's right on the other side of that front door. There's other entrances to get inside of that house

你的夢想就藏在門後，但是想進入那幢房子你還可以選擇其他入口，

which represents your dream, your goal, your desire.

那房子就是你的夢想、你的目標、你的嚮往，

So figure out that way.

想想如何找到那條路徑吧！

And what that means is the path is not always straight.

記住，那條路可能不會直接了當

I talk about this a lot.

About pivoting, moving on to the next thing.

「關鍵轉折」：適時改變策略

You have to have the nose of like a bloodhound.

你必須具備最靈敏的嗅覺，像獵犬那般

And know when something feels like it could go stale.

Being one step ahead.

永遠先發制人

Or, you know what, I used to love this job

你一定懂得，曾經我多麼熱愛這份工作，

and then I used to like it, and now I kinda tolerate it.

然後我變得只是喜歡它，現在我則是被動地忍受它

And it's not necessarily just like,

你不一定非得這樣選擇──

"Ooh screw this! I'm outta here."

噢管它的，我要丟下一切走人

And then you can't pay your rent.

然後落得付不起房租的下場

Sometimes it's about transitioning and doing it smoothly.

相反地你需要的是段過渡期，而這段過渡愈順暢愈好

Leave at the top, with respect,

有風度地離開那個職位，

Even if you hate that damn job,

無論你多麼痛恨那份工作，

you don't wanna burn bridges.

你也必須為自己留一條退路

Get into that next job, still be able to pay your rent,

投入下一份工作，負擔自己的房租，

and don't piss off your boss because you never know when you're gonna need that recommendation.

並且不要惹火老闆，因為你不知道何時會需要從他手上拿一封推薦信

If you have an idea, if you wanna be an entrepreneur and you just have no way in,

如果你有個創業點子，卻不知道從哪裡入門，

you don't have access to capital to, you know,

或手邊沒有資金來源

to make this dream come true? I say,

來讓創業夢想成真，我會建議

work for companies that have a similar mission, product, service that you wish to create.

找一間理念、產品、服務都相似於你計畫的公司工作，

Learn their secrets. Learn what makes them tick.

弄懂他們的秘訣，了解他們如何運作，

And then take that, and tweak it,

學習仿效，加以調整，

and make it your own.

最後內化成自己的東西

The more knowledge that you have, the more power you have.

當你的知識變得越充沛，你也變得更加強大

When you need to sit down in front of a VC or private equity and say,

即使有天你必須面對某間創投或私募股權，告訴他們：

"I need some money to make this dream come true."

「我需要這筆錢來圓夢。」

And in my career, I have wanted so much, but it's not always about this.

在我的職涯中，我總是企圖爭取更多，但不是每次都能正面迎擊

Sometimes you gotta, ... it's like a dance.

有時你得這麼轉個彎，像跳舞那樣

Back, back, side, side, back, dip, and attic.

往後，往後，側邊，側邊，往後，下探，往上

And side door, and window, and cellar, and cellar.

側門，窗戶，酒窖，酒窖
