and his ex girlfriend happened to be there

so he turned to me and asked, "So do you want to meet her ?

and I very politely responded..

'Why the fuck would I want to do that?'

okay...

Cause it was just so foreign to me.

I mean this isn't coming from a place of immaturity.

I hope.

But it's like why would I want to talk to someone that you've been inside of?

That is all I'll be able to think about.

Is it wrong that I don't want to put myself in that very awkward situation?

And as we started talking I realized..

"Wait, so are you like friends with all of your exes?"

"I mean yeah. Aren't you?"

"Ha. No. I am not friends with my ex. Any of them."

"At all."

"So what do you hate them or something?"

"I don't hate them. I just wish that once we broke up they would like cease to exist."

"y'know not that they'd die."

"Just that they'd never been born."

Okay maybe this is immature.

But if we breakup I don't want to see you anymore.

I don't want to know anything about you.

And maybe that's cause every break up I've ever had has been terrible.

I've never had a mature adult breakup where both parties are like..

"I really like you as a person I just, I don't think we're compatible."

"Oh. I agree. I think you're awesome but we don't have chemistry."

"I'd really like to still be friends"

"I'll need some time to move on."

"Of course. Me too."

"But, when I'm ready I hope we can have an awesome friendship."

Nope.

If those breakups are classical music.

Mine have been heavy metal.

I've never remained friends with an ex.

Ever.

The fact that my boyfriend is friends with all of his ex-girlfriends...

It's kinda cool. Honestly.

It's kinda like wow what's that like? Y'know

I don't know it's like seeing a new colour or discovering a new species.

Like the very thought of having a friend who was formerly a romantic partner...

Is an entirely new concept to me

MY GOD!

It can't be done.

But, maybe I'm not friends with any of my exes

because I've never actually been friends with them first.

You know all of my relationships have kinda started out as romantic.

There was never really a solid foundation of friendship.

I've also never dated someone from my friend group.

Where it would make more sense to remain amicable after a breakup.

But, who knows?
