那是什麼

Back in the days, ill people would go to

古時候 生病的人會到

Baosheng Emperor's temple to seek medicine.

保生大帝廟求取藥方

After lighting incense and stating their identity,

在上香禀報自己的身分之後

they would place the incense on top of their wrists

把香放在自己的手腕上

for a reading of the pulse by the deity.

讓神把脈

Next, they would go pick a fortune stick.

把完脈之後 抽藥籤

On the stick there will be a prescription.

藥籤上面記載著藥方

By following the prescription and taking the medicine,

照藥方去抓藥

your illness would be cured.

就可以治病了

Tainan's Grand Guan Yin Pavilion and Shin-ji Temple

臺南北區的大觀音亭興濟宮

in the North District still practice this tradition.

就還維持著這個傳統喔
