Matt Drukker, the portfolio manager of the Fidelity Select Telecom Portfolio saids that

He also says that "...less than a quarter of smartphone customers received an upgrade in 2016,

which implies that the average user on a postpaid contract is on pace to keep a phone for roughly four years."

Drukker saids that's way too long, and most people are gonna be forced to upgrade this year,

So, it could force carriers to compete even more aggressively for customers in 2017,

especially in terms of advertising spending, services packaging, and of course, pricing,

which could lead to shifts in market share,
