Hi. My name's Dan Delavan. I'm the owner/operator of Plaza Cutlery in Costa Mesa, California.
We have a great selection, we also have a website, plazacutlery.com and today we're
going to be talking about knives.
Okay. When buying a Swiss Army Knife, starting with the small one, you'll want to decide
how many tools you want on it. If there's very specific tools that you want, which for
example, the scissors, the blade, and the file are usually the most popular, you just
need the basic classic. You don't need all the other pieces. But if you like the gadgets,
there are the bigger ones which, you'll do now include a flash light. They have stitch
cutters, cuticle pushers, extra blades, small screw drivers. So there's now a lot of choices
in the small one where there was not before.
This is the medium size which is the Executive. You don't have too many choices in this one.
Just the blade, file and the scissors, or with Executive they do add the citrus peeler
and a little nicer nail file. When you go to the large one, you have a lot more choices.
There is a few of them that have just a little bit smaller frame, but most of them are this
full frame. And your basic piece is going to be your two blades, your screwdriver, cap
lifter, your little wire stripper, standard screwdriver, can opener, and leather punch.
It's either the corkscrew or the Philips that comes on the bottom. It's one or the either.
You have a couple of models where they put the Phillips opposite a magnifying glass up
top. But in general, on the bottom it's either the corkscrew or the Phillips. And then of
course they all have the tweezer and toothpick, unless they have the flashlight in it.
Swiss Army Knives can range, you know, some places will run specials on them and have
them really cheap. You know in general, Swiss Army Knife is going to start around 15, 16
dollars and go up from there. And there is one that is really humongous with a lot of
pieces that we just sold the other day. So we don't have it for show, but it's like 400
dollars. A lot of stuff in it.
