without a visit to the National Mall.
And toady we're going to walk from the capitol
all the way down to the Lincoln Memorial.

And our expert is sharing the significance about each one.
Beautiful.
^- So this is the Smithsonian Castle in back of us.
^It was designed by James Renwick,
^and erected in 1855
to house most of the major collections of the
Smithsonian Institution when it was just getting started.
- Oh cool, there's the Washington Monument.
- The people who put up the Washington Monument
wanted to demonstrate a sort of ideology of the man
rather than draw our attention to the man himself.
^- We are headed into the Lincoln Memorial.
^I feel so small.
^This space is huge!
This is amazing.

It's just amazing to see this sculpture
carved out of marble.
It's incredible.
- Every person who comes on this tour
will walk away with a more solid understanding
of how the National Mall fits into the larger fabric
of the city of Washington, D.C.
All sorts of old and new places that bring us back
