  • Welcome back, everyone. I was working with my client with Williams Syndrome and a lot

  • of people with Williams Syndrome have hyperacusis which is a hyper sensitivity to soundparticularly

  • loud noises. So, you have to be really sensitive when approaching this. But, I found a couple

  • of things that seem to work really well. One is paring loud noises with dramatic, goofy,

  • silly humor. You saw in that I was being this crazy monster and the only way to get rid

  • of the monster was to play loud. I was trying to create positive associations with loud

  • noises and making it fun, motivating and musical. The other thing I was doing was following

  • my client’s lead. You have to be very respectful with clients with sound sensitivities. What

  • I usually do is empower them by letting them conduct me in a sense and tell me louder or

  • softer, faster or slower, or let them play the instrument and let them create loud sounds

  • or soft sounds. So, following my client’s lead and really being sensitive to what his

  • needs were so that we could have some fun, use music, make it motivating and create positive

  • assoications with loud sounds.

  • Thank you for tuning into The Rhythm Tree. Please check in next week for more videos

  • and please sign up for my newsletter in my video blog if you haven’t already.

  • Thank you so much.

Welcome back, everyone. I was working with my client with Williams Syndrome and a lot
