you have been an icon at our commencement ceremonies.

On this, your last Smith commencement before retiring,

- We mark the end of an era.

Your presence at our ceremony, from your formal attire

to your booming voice, have brought majesty

to Smith College's most treasured moments.

We have been honored to have you bring us

to order for two decades, and we wish you

all the best upon your well deserved retirement.

While it might not be as regal as your attire today,

we'd like to leave you with a gift in gratitude.
