  • I think a lot of people don't realize that obesity is actually a risk factor for cancer.

  • Being obese puts you at a higher risk of developing certain cancers like breast cancer, ovarian

  • cancer, prostate, colon and even pancreatic cancer to name a few. The higher your BMI

  • actually, the more likely you are to develop cancer. Not only that, the higher your BMI,

  • the more likely you actually are to die from that particular cancer. So if you are obese,

  • meaning that your BMI is 30 or greater and you have a family history of cancer or you

  • feel that you may be at an increased risk for cancer, talk to your doctors.

  • Even if you don't have a history though, it's important to make sure you get all the necessary

  • screening tests, and this is important for people of healthy weight as well. But make

  • sure you get your colonoscopies, your mammograms, and get your PSA checked if you're a man,

  • to make sure that you don't have prostate cancer. While this is very scary the good

  • news though, is that if you are able to lose the weight, your risk of developing or potentially

  • dying from cancer, does decrease as you lose weight and as your BMI decreases.

I think a lot of people don't realize that obesity is actually a risk factor for cancer.
