Kate you look absolutely stunning tonight. Now was this one of your most challenging
roles so far?
It definitely was up there yes. I think. I mean I have to hand it to Jason Reitman our
Director. He doesn't like rehearsing and I was absolutely fine with that. But I think
in seeing the finished film and just the experience that we all had. There is such a degree of
suspense to the story and you really don't know as an audience whats going to happen
next. Us as actors sometimes felt a little bit like that. We really didn't know and I
think he did that deliberately and I think his choice not to rehearse really lent itself
to a film like Labor Day. Particularly for young Gattlin Griffith who played Henry. He
was so terrified every day just being on a film set and playing that role and feeling
so determined that he wanted to do a good job. Yeah, the nerves and the lack of, I think,
rehearsal that we had, really did contribute to that sense of tension all of the time.
Just not knowing what was going to happen, literally in the next take.
What was it like working with Josh? Was he great to work with?
He was great I just completely adore him. He's a lot of fun and he's a big teddy bear.
He does sort of seem quite scary and I think people think oh he's going to punch you or
something. But he's very cuddly and down to Earth which I really value and appreciate.
The fun factor really worked for the story too because it meant that we did have a lighthearted
feel to things between takes. We needed that because it was quite intense I think a lot
of the time.
You must be so excited about baby number three, you look amazing. Have you had any weird cravings
yet?
Not really actually I think I've been alright. At the moment I seem to be wanting orange
juice a lot. I don't quite know why that is but no nothing particularly strange I'm afraid.
I wish I could tell you that I had some weird craving or other. I wish I could be like that
woman on the advert who was like tuna fish and banana but I wasn't like that at all.
