It's finally election night,

大選之夜終於來臨

and I imagine that's welcome news to most of you, because, let's face it,

我相信這對你們來說是個好消息，因為說真的

this has been an exhausting, stressful, and sometimes downright weird election for all of us.

這次的競選真的是很累，壓力很大而且還有點詭異

But here's what I want everybody to know:

但這是我要讓大家知道的：

While we've certainly seen some new things this time around, what isn't new is that our democracy has always been rowdy and raucous.

這次我們確實目睹了一些新的東西，不變的是，我們追尋民主的過程一直都是轟轟烈烈。

We've been through tough and divisive elections before,

我們之前經歷過棘手而且分歧的大選

and we've always come out stronger for it.

但我們堅強的熬過

That's what makes America special.

這就是美國如此特別的原因

The idea that, while progress isn't guaranteed, each of us has the power to choose our path,

（美國如此特別）正是因為這樣的宗旨，雖然不能保證會好轉，但是我們每一個人都有選擇路途的權力

not just on nights like this, but every day in between.

不只是像這樣的夜晚，而是其中的每一天

It is a beautiful and fragile gift, and we should treat it that way.

這是一份美麗但脆弱的禮物，而我們應該如此待它。

So, whether your chosen candidates win or lose tonight, let's all agree, not only to stay engaged, but to push ourselves to do even better.

所以，不管你選擇的候選人是否當選，我們都要記住，不只要繼續關心政治，而且要督促自己做得更好。

To vote not just when the president is on the ballot,

並不只在總統出現在選票上時投票

but for Congress, and mayor, and school board, and dog catcher.

也要投給國會、市長、學校董事，以及捕狗大隊

To educate ourselves on the issues and join with our neighbors in tackling the ones that face our communities.

關心時事，和鄰居一起加入自助團體，來共同面對問題

And most importantly, to see each other not simply as Democrats or Republicans,

還有最重要的，不僅僅是將彼此視為民主黨或共和黨的一份子

but as fellow Americans.

是以同為美國人的身分

To treat each other with the respect and empathy and kinship that title—American—commands.

互相尊重、同情，同為美國人使我們都像血親

That's especially true here on a place like Twitter, but it's something we can bring with us to everything we do, online and off.

這點尤其在推特上更為真實。不過這是不論我們在線上或線下，都能做到的

We can choose to see the best in one another.

我們可以選擇去看見彼此最美好的一面

Have a good night everybody, and remember no matter what happens,

the sun will rise in the morning, and America will still be the greatest nation on earth.
