We also do things with, uh drawing still lives and drapery. We'll actually be drawing from, uh models that will be coming in, which is a really great opportunity that you don't really get in, in schools. >> In drawing, the first couple of days we're, we're doing perspective, and now we are doing drapery and we're using a lot of charcoal. >> In the sketching classes, we learn about technique and shading, and how to draw figures. >> Notice that his head is relatively flat on top, it's a bit of a block head, it's flat on top and has this angle right here, and the nose is relatively flat. His jowels come down the side. >> I think Jared doesn't have to keep running around a lot, and spend like a lot of time with you and stuff. >> The way that I run my program is the first week is all curriculum that I have written out for my students. But the second week is all derived from what my students are interested in, what they're doing, they're directly engaged in, because that's what they're interested in drawing, whether it be "Oh I wanna learn how to draw the figure, or I wanna learn to draw trees, or what's up with clouds, how can you get that fullness, that richness, that depth and dimension within clouds?", and I say "ok, let's do that" so, I give myself a week and the weekend, to write all of the curriculum for the second week, and then the second week comes and students are excited because not only are we learning and doing the same fun things we've been doing all week, but now, what we're learning is directly, uh derived from what they're interested in. So, that's a really great opportunity that you don't get in many schools, cause most of the time, the curriculum is set sometimes years before you even meet the teacher, whereas here, um, I'm constantly tailoring what I do to meet the needs of all my students - it's their interests and what they want to learn about that's gonna be driving the course for the second week. >> It's a lot of work but it's also a lot of fun, too.
