  • Hi! Today we will talk about words like any more? any longer and no longer

  • Any more and any longer are pretty much the same

  • and are always used in the end of the sentnce

  • fro example: Jane doesn't live here any more

  • or Jane doesn't live here any longer

  • But no longer is always used in the middle of the sentence

  • and it is used instead of axillary verb

  • fro example

  • Jane no longer lives here

  • So it just makes it easier to make this kind of construction

  • so this is pretty easy , right?

  • any more any longer - at the end of the sentence , no longer in the middle of the sentence

  • what about no more?

  • Jane lives here no more

  • We know, that it will be the correct way to put it in a sentence

  • because in english, you know, we cannot make double negatives

  • but it sounds weird

  • Lane lives here no more

  • The difference between all these words - in the way they sound in english lanuage

  • Any more is pretty fine. Jane doesn't live here any more

  • It's simple, understandable, sounding really good sentence

  • Jane no longer lives here - sounds formal

  • and serious and official

  • It's like some kind of authority is telling you that -

  • Jane no longer lives here

  • and the third one - Jane lives here no more

  • is copletely old-fashioned

  • You can here it in like, I don't know, Game of Thrones, for example

  • because it sounds very..... It doesn't sound modern

  • It's kind of a saying from calssic literature -

  • he loves me no more

  • Yeah - it just sounds really like , ugh, ok

  • and it sounds pretty simple and usual for everybody

  • Jane doesn't live here any more

  • no longer is used in the middle of a sentence for the same reson

  • but it sounds a bit more official

  • Jane no longer lives here

  • and no more ,which usually happens at the end of a sentence , is an old-fashioned way to say that smth has ended

  • jane lives here no more

  • and one last thing
