After an apparently amazing night - they wake up the next morning with a roofie- induced -hangover so massive, none of them can remember what they did - and no one knows where the groom is. The comedy then unfolds over the course of the 100-minute movie, as friends Phil, Stu, and Alan played by Bradley Cooper, Ed Helms, and Zach Galifianaksis try to find Doug, played by Justin Bartha - who is sadly reduced to very little screen time. Taking cues from all the great R-rated comedies in the past few years - director Todd Phillips goes for the home-run in this movie, really combining every type of effective comedy there is. Wethere it's a fart-joke, a gross-out moment, a surprise cameo, unexpected plot twits, situation mis-communication, or just flat-out clever writing - The Hangover really delivers the laugh consistently throughout the film. Maybe it's because I've watched something like 2,000 movies in my life, or years-worth of TV... but for the most part, I'm pretty jaded when it comes to comedy. I rarely will laugh out loud, unless something is legitimately funny. While watching "The Hangover" - there were times I was unable to even hear the dialog I was laughing so hard. Of course, all of this would be for naught if the plot and characters didn't work. Luckily though - the cast mesh incredibly well with each other - truly exhibiting what appears to be strong life-long relationships right from the first scene of the movie to the ending-credits sequence that is easily one of the best in years. The Hangover is a terrific comedy, with a heart of gold - with some very memorable jokes and scenes - which is no wonder Warner Brothers has already announced a sequel - slated for release in May of 2011. Now lets take a look at your YouTube comments: LuluStoreys when i first went to see hangover i expected the traditional crazy party movie, but it was fantastic. it was like a drunken scavenger hunt. JTGOD Hangover was an immense movie. The narrative viewpoint of the 3 guys slowly piecing the night before together was extremely funny to watch. Great film, this year wasnt great for comedy movies but it seems the hangover beat the trend big time. 9/10 Dopeykilla I like the hangover, it was pretty witty and it had it's funny moments, but i can't say i loved it, it threw too much random shit at me, like a naked Asian man hopping out of a trunk. None the less. i give it a 7 out of 10. I think it's safe to say that the response from this movie was overwhelmingly positive - but lets fire up the dual-chamber Rate-O-Matic and see how "The Hangover" did. Very impressive! You rank this movie at "Amazing", and I gave it a "8". At the end of the day, although incredibly awesome - The Hangover is just a comedy, and far from "high art", so I had to hold-off on the top-score for this picture.
