We are going to talk in Romanian.
Perfect.
I enjoyed my visit in Romania very much. It was short, too short; but it was pleasant. I liked it a lot.
Where did you go first? Which city?
I went to Rădăuţi through Bucharest because I had been in Vienna, Austria for 3 days.
After that, I went to Rădăuţi through Bucharest. I arrived late at night.
The next day I visited a sawmill and a monastery.
Yes, did you speak Romanian with the workers?
I spoke Romanian only.
I started speaking Romanian in Vienna because I had been invited to a party
At this party, there were people from many countries, Romania included.
It was a party for businessmen in the wood sector.
I looked for the Romanians! After two months of learning Romanian, I wanted to talk.
I found a table where there were only Romanians. I started to talk to them.
It was very interesting because a man at this table was the Mayor of a city in Moldavia, called Comăneşti.
The Mayor insisted that I shouldn't go to Braşov (as originally planned) but to Comăneşti instead.
The company has a sawmill in Comăneşti.
I decided to change my plans and I went to Comăneşti. It was very interesting.
He is a very warm and friendly man. This was all part of my experience.
But in Romania, after Rădăuţi, because I rented a car
In Romania, if you pay 20 euros, you can have a driver.
So I traveled from Rădăuţi to Comăneşti for 6 hours with my driver.
I spoke only Romanian!
You already speak Romanian better!
I think I speak better than in the beginning.
Better and better. Well done!
I hope so.
After Comăneşti I went through the mountains, via Piatra Neamţ, very beautiful mountains, to Transylvania.
The landscape changes every 50 km. Very beautiful!
Of course, I spoke only Romanian with the driver. I visited Sighişoara and then Sibiu.
In Sibiu there was a Theatre Festival. The streets were full of people. It was very friendly
Sometimes, in Canada, if there are a lot of people in the streets, there can be problems
young people who drink and cause problems;
but in Romania, in Sibiu, no one.
Romanians are well-behaved.
Yes
So you didn't go to Braşov after all?
No, because I only had 2-3 days: 1 day for business and 2 for vacation, for visiting.
But, of course, I want to go back to Romania, there are a lot of places that I want to see
Braşov, Bucureşti, Cluj-Napoca, Alba Iulia, Timişoara.
I bought a book about Romania, entitled "Why is Romania different?" by Lucian Boia.
I saw your other video on Youtube.
From some points of view, the book is a little critical or negative about Romania.
But I had the impression that Romania is a young country;
because for a long time, it wasn't independent. It was under control: Turkey, Austria-Hungary, Russia.
I have the impression that it is a country that is starting to -
Develop
There are a lot of possibilities, people are very positive
Of course, 100 years ago, illiteracy was quite high. But now, the education level is pretty high.
Romania hasn't had a lot of experience with democracy. Now it is starting to develop.
So I’m very optimistic about Romania.
Very good! Romanians are usually pessimistic about their country.
The people with whom I dealt were quite positive.
