A sign the UN sanctions slapped on North Korea are already working: Russia's biggest energy
company decides to stop doing business with the regime.
Citing Russian media reports, Radio Free Asia reported Wednesday Gazprom said it is suspending
business with North Korea in a memorandum of understanding regarding its plan to issue
new Eurobonds. The Russian energy company said any business
links with North Korea could subject it to international sanctions and added it is not
doing any energy-related business with the North at this time.
Gazprom had been pursuing oil exploration and mining businesses with Pyongyang.
