Hello ladies and gents! I've had a few requests to do more flight attendant
videos and I aim to please so here's another flight attendant video.
Today I'm just gonna kind of be venting about my pet peeves, umm
I saw Jenna Marbles just posted something about pet peeves
so I'm gonna do a flight attendant version of it.
Some of these are my own personal pet peeve type thing
and other ones are just if you do this to
essentially any fight attendant, they
probably hate you. Hate's a strong word; they're probably highly annoyed by you.
Number one. If your luggage does not fit
in the overhead bin, it is not my job or any other flight attendant's job
to make it fit. If you can't put your bag up in
the overhead, then you need to check it or you need to not pack as much crap.
Please make sure the lid closes
before you walk away from your bag. If it's sticking out five inches
pretty sure that bin is not gonna close.
The amount of times that I've had to play tetris and move bags around,
when that's not my job, but I just don't want the passenger to have to check their bag... I can't tell you
how many times I've had to do that.
It's absurd. Oh! And on that note, if it's a
full flight, especially if it's a full flight, put
your backpack under the seat in front of you. It saves space in the overhead
for bigger luggage.
It's, yeah like it's cramped you want the leg space
but the space in front you under the seat is for a backpack or a purse.
Again going off of that:
if you don't wanna put your purse on the floor on the airplane
then don't bring that purse. Bring a bag or something that you don't mind having
it be on the floor of an
airplane. Because it's FAA regulation that you cannot hold your bad
in your lap; all luggage needs to be either in the overhead bins or
completely under the seat
in front of you. So when we're coming around: "Excuse me, can you please put your bag
all the way under, yep,
little bit more, yep, no it needs to go ALL the way under. All the way."
Don't get pissy at me, I just don't want to get fined by the FAA
for you because you don't wanna hold put your bag under the seat in front of you.
It's not us, it's not, I don't have a personal vendetta against you.
If we're coming with the cart,
you know, common sense says that we're going to have
like drinks or food. Common courtesy
would be to know what you want before we get there.
Also, if I lean over and you have your headphones in
so you didn't hear exactly what I asked you...what do you think I asked you?
I'm sitting here with the cart, it's a beverage cart
what do you think I just asked you? If you ask for coffee
and I respond with, "Would you like any cream or sugar?" "Yes."
"OK. How many cream and sugars?" - Let's say you're sitting in the middle seat,
and I just went through that little spiel with the person in the window seat
and then I get to you and you say coffee, you know what I'm gonna ask after that.
I just did it
to the person sitting next to you. So I get to you and I say, " Would you like some coffee?"
You better, b-, you better know how many
cream and sugars you want if you want any and just let me know straight up. It will make my
job so much easier
you wouldn't think that it would make that much of a difference, but it does because
there could be twenty people I have to go to through that spiel with
and that adds up. If you just know, just know
just in general anything, not just coffee, when the flight attendant gets to you,
just know what you want and you are making our lives
so much easier. And internally
every person that knows exactly what they want when I get to them, I'm just,
I'm sending good vibes, good vibes people.
"Thank you, sir you are, you are just awesome."
That's what I'm saying, inside my head, to the people who already know what they want.
So keep that in mind. Third thing: don't poke your flight attendant.
Don't poke us. We hear you when you say, "Excuse me, ma'am."
Because if you're, I mean your arms reach is about at my
you know, down around my
but or like stomach, and I don't really want to be
poked in those areas by strangers. If we tell you to do something,
there's a reason behind it, it's not just because,
it's not just for shits and giggles, like there's a reason that we're telling you to do
something
and nine times out of ten, it's because it's for your safety
and we could get fined if you don't follow our instructions.
Actually, you could get fined for not following our instructions because
legally you have to do what we tell you to do because we are the safety
professionals
on your flight. The amount of people that I see that unbuckle their
seatbelt
as soon as we get on the ground... Stuff can still happen once you're on the ground. I
don't mean to freak anybody out
but you're not safe yet until you are at the gate
and stopped. That is why we say, "Remain seated with your seatbelt fastened."
Stuff can still go wrong, just keep
that in the back of your mind. That's it pretty much. There really...
kind of went on a couple tangents there but there really isn't that much, but those
couple things
people do it on every single flight and it accumulates and
it's just...it's
annoying. So you know, just don't do whatever I
just vented about, and your flight attendants will love you. Easy peasy.
