How to See Your Team Play During Spring Training. If you're looking for a major league twist
on a minor league level, this guide will get you up close to your favorite sports heroes
before the start of the season. You will need Internet access Time and adventurous spirit.
Step 1. Do a little research online to find your favorite baseball team's spring training
camp, which is in either Florida or Arizona. Step 2. Book a hotel near your team's field.
Remember to book early, at least by December, as watching spring training baseball has become
increasingly more popular. To save on costs, rent a house or cottage if you have more than
6 people. As a bonus, you get a kitchen and possibly even a pool. Step 3. Bring the kids
along and introduce them to your favorite team and the game of baseball. The relaxed
atmosphere and cheap seats make it a perfect family getaway. Step 4. Pack for the weather
by bringing both warm- and cool-weather clothes, an umbrella or rain poncho, and plenty of
sunscreen. Step 5. Arrive early to the games to catch the players warming up and feel free
to stay late to watch them squeeze in some batting practice or drills. These are the
best times to try to grab an autograph, or even chat it up with the players. Step 6.
Try going to more weekday games as they are generally less crowded, and give you a greater
chance of talking with the players or catching a foul ball. Step 7. Talk to the locals about
the best places to eat, can't-miss attractions, and, most importantly, traffic snarls on game
days. And don't forget to enjoy yourself. Play ball! Did you know Before becoming the
Yankees, New York's baseball team was known as the Highlanders, the Invaders, and the
Porchclimbers prior to 1900.
