So, here, I have a dress shirt. 「談論衣著」。我手邊是一件襯衫 It is being held up by my wonderful assistant, 萬能小幫手替我撐著 Steve, the spider. Thank you very much for your help today, Steve. I'll take you out 小蜘蛛Steve,多謝你幫忙。我會帶你 to your favourite restaurant afterwards. And dress shirts are also known as button-up shirts. 去你最愛的餐廳。禮用襯衫也稱扣襯衫 So, today, what I would like to do is just go over some of the basic parts of a dress 今天我想談襯衫的基本構造 shirt, as well as talking about some of the verbs that we associate with dress shirts, 及一些相關的動詞 and, well, lots of clothing in general. So this information can be used in a lot of different 還有整體衣著。這些都適用不同 situations when talking about clothing. 談論衣著的情境 So, we'll start from the top, and we will work our way down. So, from the top, we have 讓我們從上而下看吧。最上面是 the collar of the shirt. So this is called the collar. Now, two verbs that we often use 衣領,稱作collar。常見兩個連貫動詞 with collars are: "Fix your collar", or: "Pop your collar". Now, again, "to fix your collar" 是"fix"和"pop"。"To fix your collar" this means that maybe your collar is up on one side, like this, or there's something 指的可能是衣領一高一低,像這樣,或其他 wrong with it. You can just use the verb "fix". Fix your collar. Okay? Now, "to pop your collar" 怪樣。你可以用"fix"說,翻好你的領子啦。"To pop your collar" is to do this, to put it up, because it looks so cool and ridiculous. So maybe not in the 指的是豎衣領,看起來比較有型啦。或許穿禮服襯衫時 context of dress shirts would you pop your collar, but the verb is "pop". Do you like 你不會想豎領子,但別忘動詞是"pop"。你喜歡 this look, Steve? Yeah, I don't really like it either. So I'm going to fix my collar and 這型嗎? 其實我不愛。現在我要"fix"我的領子 put it back to normal. 把衣領翻回來 Now, here we have a pocket. So, simply put, you can put things in your pocket. And this 這兒是口袋。簡單來說,你可以塞東西進口袋 part of the shirt, these are called your sleeves. Now, again, shirts can have long sleeves or 這部分則是袖子。當然囉,襯衫可以是長袖或 short sleeves. So, again, it can have long sleeves or short sleeves. Here, you have two 短袖。再一次: 長袖(long sleeves)或短袖(short sleeves)。片語有兩個 expressions that I put: "Roll up" and "roll down". So if it's time to work hard, you can "roll up"和"roll down"。要認真工作時,你可說 say: "Time to roll up your sleeves." So to roll up your sleeves is to do this. To roll 「該捲起衣袖了」,像這樣 them down is to put them back down. And again, you can think about many contexts where you To roll them down是放下衣袖。想一些生活上你 roll up your sleeves. So if you have to go to the doctor and donate blood, or if you 捲起衣袖的情境。如:去看病捐血,或 have to, you know, it's really hot, you need to roll up your sleeves. Or if you just say: 你知道嘛,熱到爆炸時必須捲袖子。或者你說: "You know what? It's time to work hard. Let's roll up our sleeves." 「嘿,幹活的時候到了。咱們捲起衣袖吧。」 And here we have cuffs. So, this part of the shirt, these are called your cuffs. And finally, 這裡是袖口。襯衫這小節稱作cuffs。最後呢 we have the buttons. So your shirt has buttons everywhere here. Right? Buttons, buttons, 是鈕釦。襯衫到處是鈕釦,不是嗎?鈕釦、鈕釦 buttons, buttons, and more buttons. 鈕釦,還是鈕釦 Now, let's continue talking about buttons by talking about some of the verbs and actions 現在來談和釦子有關的動詞片語 that you can do with buttons. It's very exciting. I promise. Here we go. Okay, you ready, Steve? 很令人興奮吧。來吧,準備好了嗎Steve? So, buttons. Exciting stuff. Now, you can see in this shirt, the top button is not buttoned. 鈕釦這令人興奮的玩意。看這襯衫最上面釦子沒扣 So if someone's button is not buttoned, you can say: "Your button is undone." or: "Your 所以如果開襟,你可說"Your button is undone"或 shirt is undone." "Your shirt is undone" Now, in this situation, you can also give advice to, you know, put the button how it's 這種情形下你可給建議,就是把釦子 supposed to be. And we have a couple of phrases that we can use to do this. So, you can say: 扣回去。有幾種說法可用: "Button your shirt up." You can also say: "Button up your shirt." So, this is a phrasal "Button your shirt up" 或 "button up your shirt",動詞片語 verb, to button up. And it's a separable phrasal verb, so you can put the object in the middle button up是可分開的,可把及物名詞放中間 or at the end. So you can say: "Button your shirt up.", "Button up your shirt." You can 或放最後,因此"button your shirt up"或"button up your shirt"都行 also use the phrasal verb to do up. So you can do the buttons up, or do up the buttons. 也可用動詞片語do up,用法: do the buttons up / do up the buttons "Do up your shirt." or: "Do your shirt up." Okay? So I'm going to do up or button up the Do up your shirt 或 do your shirt up。好啦我來扣上 final button, here. It's very difficult when it's a loose shirt. Still got it, Steve? Okay. 最後一個鈕釦,太鬆時超難扣。Steve撐得住嗎? He's building his muscles right now. He's a strong spider. 他在練肌肉,超強蜘蛛 Now, if you want to unbutton, you can simply say: "Unbutton your shirt." And just like 如果要解釦呢,你可說: "Unbutton your shirt" 如同 we have the verb "do", you can also use the verb "undo" to remove the buttons. So undo 動詞"do",你加上"un-"(反義)來表示解釦 your shirt, or undo the buttons, unbutton your shirt. You can also unbutton one button, 用法: Undo your shirt 或 undo the buttons,也可用動詞unbutton unbutton the top button or the bottom button. Whatever it is. Unbutton最上面或最下面的釦子,隨便啦 Okay, so if you'd like to test your understanding of all of this exciting vocabulary, as always, 那如果想要來個單字小測驗的話, you can check out the quiz on www.engvid.com.
