and today I'm here to with Kamri

and I'm going to show you how to do the

CGH Mermaid Combo.

- Wait, what?

But now let's actually show 'em

how to do the mermaid combo.

(giggling)

Okay, now to begin I've picked up one strand

on this right side and two on the left,

coming from the part line,

and I'm going to begin a regular three strand braid,

using these three strands we've pulled back.

So once we have our first stitch in place,

we're just going to reach around and pull a very tiny

little section from the front and add it in,

and we're going to do the same thing on this side.

Grab a tiny, little piece

and add it into the braid as well.

And grab a tiny piece, and so on and so forth.

(upbeat rock music)

And when we've gone down a couple inches,

then I'm going to just do one stitch,

and then I'm going to start

what the combo part of the braid is.

So on this outside piece right here,

this last one on the outside,

I'm going to, before I cross it over in the middle,

just pull a little section of it off.

this is called a feather, and leave it hanging

and then do it on the other side as well.

So pull a little piece off and let it feather off,

and go ahead and cross it into the braid.

Pull a little piece off, feather it out,

pull a little piece off, feather it out,

and pull a little piece off, this is piece number three,

and same with this side.

So we have three feather pieces on each side.

Let's see, three there and three there.

Now, we're going to do one stitch in between,

which I've already done,

and then we're going to add that piece back in.

So on each side we're going to start

adding them back in.

Now I'm gonna add in number two.

Number two.

And, number one, and number one.

And then, watch the magic happen.

You go back and just gently give that a tug out

so it creates kind of a semi-circle shape.

Pull out that middle one,

and pull out that inner one.

You can pull them out as much or as little as you want.

We're gonna do the same thing on this side.

Give it a tug out,

give it a tug out,

and give it a tug out.

So we end up with this really cool

kind of semi-circular shape on either side of the braid.

And then we're gonna go down and just add an elastic.

Now you could almost do, if your hair's long enough,

a second one down here at the bottom of the braid,

or if you really wanted to you could just start at the top

and work your hair all the way down the braid,

doing semi-circles, lots of fun options for this one.

I just love that this accents the

mermaid braid combo anyway

and just really makes the whole hair pop.
