Johnston Canyon is located in the heart of beautiful Banff national park
and is easily accessible from the Bow Valley Parkway.
It's an easy walk to the canyon from the highway
where you can see the waterway flowing through the canyon
before ending up in Bow River far to the south.
The Johnston Canyon ice walk is one of the most popular
outings in the National Park due to its easy accessibility,
and choice of great walks.
Visitors have the option of a short 600 metre paved walk to the lower falls,
but if you trek another thirty minutes you'll be rewarded
by some spectacular scenery at the 'Must See' Upper Falls.
You can then travel further up an unpaved path to reach the Ink Pots,
but the trail can get slippery
so it is well worth considering snow shoes and cleats.
