It's not the easiest TD to play, but can be highly effective.

Its high mobility will be useful in Tier IX battles.

The SU-122-44 is maneuverable

and easily accelerates to its maximum speed of 47 km/h.

It can change positions fast, get behind enemy lines,

and run away after taking a shot.

It's hard to play as a sniper because of the gun's low accuracy

and because enemy vehicles in this battle tier have sturdy armor.

The SU-122-44 won't be able to penetrate an E 75's front armor, even with APCR shells.

In those situations, the optimum role of the SU-122-44 is to accompany a group of allied medium tanks

as they mount a push in one sector.

You can play effectively against Tier IX medium tanks

being useful to your team.

There are almost no targets that the SU-122-44 can't penetrate

if it's facing enemies of Tier V through Tier VIII.

Thanks to its low profile, this tank destroyer is quite good at delivering fire from a hiding place and remaining unspotted.

The SU-122-44 is armed with the D-25S cannon.

Its average damage per shot is 390, with armor penetration of 175 mm.

This is one of the most powerful guns in its tier.

The Soviet tanks receive similar guns only in their top configuration.

Its rate of fire is 7.5 shots per minute, not considering Gun Rammer and Crew Skills and Perks.

So, it can deliver an impressive 2925 damage per minute.

This is outstanding for a Tier VII vehicle.

With these characteristics,

the SU-122-44 can duel quite confidently with heavy tanks of the same Tier;

for example, the IS.

And most Tier VI vehicles can't take more than two hits.

Keep in mind, you won't be able to cause damage with every single shot because of the lack of pinpoint accuracy,

but the fast reload time tends to make up for this.

When it's at the top of the list,

the SU-122-44 can play boldly

and aggressively on every map using its armor.

Its front armor is 90mm thick, and its sides have 75mm of armor - excellent for its tier.

The gun mantlet is big and durable, and the lower glacis plate is narrow.

And look at the front! The armor is sloped at 60 degrees.

Only shells with armor penetration more than 175mm will be able to penetrate it.

But the chance of ricochet will still be quite high.

When reloading, you can turn the hull to the side a bit

and enjoy the sound of ricocheting shells.

Don't rely on this trick in battles against Tier IX vehicles, though.

Light and medium tanks are always the problem for a tank destroyer without support.

However, this doesn't apply for the SU-122-44.

Its chassis traverse speed is great - 42 degrees per second.

This is higher than that of most medium tanks in the same tier.

The disadvantages of the SU-122-44 are typical of the vehicles of the Soviet Tech Tree.

Its gun aiming time is slow, and its view range is quite low.

The standard view range of 330 meters

means you'll have to rely on teammates to spot for you.

Of course, the view range can be improved by Equipment and Crew Skills and Perks.

The required equipment is a Gun Rammer and Enhanced Gun Laying Drive.

The last piece of equipment is optional.

You can either mount a Binocular Telescope or, if you don't mind letting your teammates do the spotting,

you can use Ventilation to improve the rate of fire and aim time.

As far as crew training, the Sixth Sense perk for the Commander

and Camouflage for the whole crew are essential.

The choice of other Skills and Perks is according to your preference.

This tank destroyer performs best as part of a team,

with other vehicles drawing enemy attention and giving the SU-122-44 the time to deliver accurate fire.

In the hands of a driver who knows its peculiarities, the SU-122-44 is a deadly vehicle,

able to cause a lot of damage,

change position, and continue delivering fire.

A lot of damage means a lot of credits at the end of the battle.
