But, you can enjoy learning Ebonics and improve your understanding of Black speech and learn more about Black culture with this lesson. I hope this will be a stepping stone into learning more about Black culture. Everyone ready? Let's begin. Today's word is: for real? Now, for real can be confusing for most people. "For real?", meaning are you sure? What? Is that true? I can't believe... So, when you use it, you also emphasize it with a little, "For real?" It makes more of a difference when you use it in that way or fashion. So, let's go to the conversational examples. My boy is getting a Record Deal! For Real? That’s Killa Dawg!!! Those two shorties at the party gave me theirs numbers. For real??? NICE!!!! You understand? Well, let's go through this real quick-like. First conversation, basically, he's telling his friend one of his boys have got a record deal. BOOM! How wonderful is that? The friend's like, "Oh my goodness! Is that true? For real? That's killa dawg!" meaning that is fantastic. Simple. Second example, the guy's saying, hey, he met two shorties, meaning two ladies, at a party. And when he met them at the party, both of the ladies gave him their phone numbers. Wooo! For a guy, that is good. And his friends is saying, "Woah, man! You got two numbers from two beautiful ladies? That was really nice." Simple. Straight to the point. So, until next time, we do this again. More Ebonics for you. I'm out. Peace.
