  • Is everyone ready? Let's begin.

  • Hello everyone!

  • Today's idiom is: think outside the box.

  • Think outside the box.

  • Okay? This idiom sounds a little strange, but actually, it's very easy to imagine.

  • So, let's imagine your mind is inside a small box, okay?

  • Your mind is inside the small box and it's very small and you can't have many good ideas.

  • It's a very small area.

  • Not easy to think creative or unusual ideas, okay?

  • If you think outside the box, then you have lots of free space to be very creative and think very freely, have many ideas, okay?

  • So, think outside the box.

  • Let's imagine thinking outside the box.

  • Alright, let's listen to a couple of examples to help you understand.

  • Where would be a good place to find people that think outside the box?

  • You should go to Harajuku or Akihabara. You will find some interesting people there!

  • Alright, so they want to find people who think outside the box and he suggested Harajuku or Akihabara.

  • Yeah, many people there are thinking very creatively, different ideas.

  • Alright, let's listen to the second example.

  • How about going to the movies this weekend?

  • Can you think of something outside the box? We go to the movies every weekend!

  • Alright, so the first person wanted to see a movie.

  • Maybe they're thinking inside the box, yeah?

  • Movies, dinner, not many ideas for a date.

  • And the other person said, 'Can you think of something outside the box?'

  • Something interesting, yeah, maybe skydiving or something really unusual.

  • Okay, so to think outside the box means to be creative and think in a non-traditional way, okay?

  • To think of many different ideas that are maybe new and a little bit crazy.

  • Alright, so sometimes it's a little hard to think outside the box or to think out of the box,

  • but it's good to practice and try to get your juices flowing and try to really think of new and interesting ideas, alright?

  • So, I hope you're able to think outside the box and think of some really fun things to do next week-end or in your English class.

  • Alright, please think outside the box and I'll see you again next time.

Hello everyone!
