I'm Casey Bartholomew and in today's video I'm going to be talking about Roland's telescopic rails.

Now when I say a telescopic rail most people probably think of the metal slides that support the doors in your kitchen or maybe the slides that support the shelves in your toolbox.

But both of these examples would be considered extremely light duty when compared to Roland's industrial telescopic slides.

That's because Roland's a leader in heavy-duty telescopic applications.

When I say heavy-duty I'm talking about rails that are over 5,000 pounds extended out 5 feet.

And the high strength and stiffness of Roland slides will always ensure minimum deflection so you can move your payload safely and smoothly by hand without the feeling that you're lifting your drawer up a hill.

Now Roland slides have been around for over 50 years and are commonly used in industrial applications such as storage retrieval systems, tool bins, specialty vehicles, robotics, and general automation all around.

Now I'm going to talk about just a few of the units that help set Roland apart from the competition when it comes to linear motion solutions.

First off we have the ASN rail.

The ASN is a partial extension guide that's available in five different sizes.

This year happens to be the size 28.

Now strokes will vary but you'll generally get about 50% of the closed length of the rail.

Now this product is perfect for extremely heavy applications where you're not as limited by the length of the mounting surface.

And taking a closer look at the ASN you can see that the rolling elements are caged steel balls and these steel balls travel in induction hardened precision ground raceways that allow for massive load capacities and long service lives.

The largest sized ASN and 63 can sport over 19,000 pounds extended out three feet.

Now I like to think of the ASN as a building block for most of Roland's robust telescopics.

You can see that here with the DE and the DE is essentially two ASNs have been riveted back-to-back forming a compact telescopic solution.

That gets you 100% extension.

Now a unique feature of the DE is that it can be configured with bi-directional stroking capabilities meaning that it can travel fully in both directions.

This is something that's commonly looked for in robotics applications and storage retrieval applications.

Now lastly I want to highlight Roland's DS telescopic.

The DS has an s-shaped intermediate profile where two ASNs are mounted.

One here at the top and then one on the bottom.

Now DS is very tall and slim profile.

It's capable of even higher load capacities at longer stroke lengths.

And this thin profile also makes this a great option for when space is at a premium.

Now all of these products are backed by over 50 years of proven success and come with published performance data that's been conveniently cataloged so that you can select the right product for the job every single time.
