Yeah, and if you guys remember, at the beginning of this month, we announced that each month we're gonna be working through a different Hillsdale online course.

Because I do think that Tori and I are in a weird place right now, where we feel like we've been struggling, because we've had a lot going on.

And so, we've been kind of wrestling with how to feel with all the peaks and valleys.

And so, as we tuned in to, I think it's like chapter 7 of us working through the David story.

But this specific chapter was, and this is kind of now how we're shifting the topic of this video, was all about the ripple effects of our actions.

It was focusing in on King David.

And as you all know, he had really high highs and really low lows.

And I think that's where Tori and I were just kind of feeling like, oh wow, okay, I see what's happening here.

And after King David did what he did with Bathsheba, and then what he did to Uriah, and then everything that transpires after that,

I don't know how many of you all know about this part of the story, but the prophet Nathan came to David and basically said to him, he gave him almost like a parable, and said, if this guy did this to that guy, and this happened, what do you think should happen to this guy?

Something as innocent as going to a rooftop, looking out, calling for her to come to his palace, whatever, and then everything that transpires all the way into his kids' lives, and what his kids do, and I don't want to take it away, but you guys should absolutely go check out this course.

I feel like I've heard the story so many times, but yet had so many fresh little realizations where I was like, oh, I didn't even realize that that's actually what happened.

I feel like when I read it, that's not what I pulled from it, and so having someone else go through the text with you and for you is so beneficial because you'll just pull so much more from the same passage of Scripture.

Even to the point where the teacher was pointing out, when David's sons are talking, and at a certain point in Scripture it'll say, King David came.

Not Father David, or David, or Shepherd David, it was King David.

And it shows you this disconnection that he feels in his heart regarding what's happening because of what he first did.

And I know you all feel the exact same way that Tora and I do, that if everything was perfect, you would live a perfect life and everything would be awesome.

That's not always the case.

Life can be really hard for a lot of us.

But what I've noticed is that when I struggle,

I tend to start justifying my actions.

I tend to start making excuses.

But I'm not thinking about the ripple effect that will come from justifying those poor actions.

I'm not thinking about the ripple effect of how that'll impact my kids and then their kids.

And even on a micro level, just how it impacts your day.

Your thought life and your thought patterns and how that one seed of a negative thought, if you don't nip it at the bud, how it can totally derail your mood for the day.

I don't know.

I can only speak from my own perspective.

But just as a wife and a mom and how that impacts your home and the way in which you're walking around and you're thinking, that's how you end up talking.

And so it's just like, man, I really need to think three steps down the road.

So think of the ripple effect of if you stew on that one thought instead of switching the perspective.

So for me right now, going through newborn life, and we just have not had the babies that are great sleepers, unfortunately.
