  • So today, you're going to learn how to go from the intermediate levels of English up to the advanced levels of English, okay?

    今天,你們將學習如何將英文程度從中級提升到高級,好嗎?

  • But first of all, what does it mean to be at the intermediate level of English versus the advanced level?

    但首先,中級程度的英文跟高級程度相比意味著什麼?

  • Let's quickly take a look.

    讓我們快速看一下。

  • If you're at the B1 level, that essentially means that you can understand the main points of basic and common situations.

    如果你的語言程度達到 B1,這基本上意味著你可以理解基本和常見情況的要點。

  • So that could be subjects related to work, school, leisurely activities.

    這可能是與工作、學校、休閒活動有關的主題。

  • You can understand them and express them on a basic level.

    你能理解它們,並能在基本層面上表達它們。

  • If you're at the B2 level, you can do the same thing, except you can do it with a wider array of different subjects.

    如果你達到 B2 程度,你也可以做同樣的事情,只不過你可以做更多不同的主題。

  • If you want to get up to the C1 level, that means you can understand a wide array of different subjects, and you should be able to understand it and articulate them in a spontaneous manner.

    如果你想達到 C1 程度,這就意味著你可以理解各種不同的主題,並能理解和自如地表達。

  • And now with C2, you can understand all of this and articulate it in a spontaneous manner, but you should also be able to have a deep understanding of advanced grammatical rules and advanced literary devices,

    至於 C2,你可以理解所有這些內容,並能自如地表達出來,但你還應該能夠深刻理解高級文法規則和高級文學手段,

  • such as oxymorons, puns, and advanced idioms, to name a few.

    如逆喻、雙關語和高級成語等等。

  • Now, according to experts, the recommended amount of study hours to go from the B1 level of English up to the C2 level of English will probably be somewhere between 500 to 700 hours of studying.

    根據專家的建議,從 B1 提升到 C2 所需的學習時間可能在 500 到 700 小時之間。

  • Of course, people can achieve this in less or more time, but this is just to give you a rough idea of what to expect.

    當然,人們可以在更短或更長的時間內實現這一目標,但這只是給你一個大致的概念。

  • If you want to go from B1 to C2, you're going to have to improve your reading, your listening, your writing, your speaking, your grammar, and your vocabulary.

    如果你想從 B1 升至 C2,就必須增加閱讀、聽力、寫作、口語、文法和詞彙量。

  • So let's dive into them.

    那麼,就讓我們深入瞭解一下吧。

  • If you're going to want to go from the B1 level to the C2 level of English, you're going to need to read texts about subjects that you are unfamiliar with, things that you don't know very much about.

    如果你想把英語程度從 B1 提高到 C2,你就需要閱讀一些你不熟悉的主題和你不太瞭解的內容。

  • It's very easy nowadays to find resources to do this.

    如今,要找到這方面的資源非常容易。

  • You can simply go on the internet and search for topics about literally anything.

    你只需上網搜索有關任何內容的主題即可。

  • For example, if you don't read a lot about politics or if you don't read a lot about sports, you can choose either of those subjects and then try your best to understand what is being conveyed based on the context that you're given.

    例如,如果你不常讀政治方面的書,或者不常讀體育方面的書,那麼你可以選擇其中的一個主題,然後根據所給的語境,盡力理解所要表達的內容。

  • As you're reading these texts that you are a little bit less familiar with, try to use your best judgment.

    在閱讀這些你不太熟悉的文章時,請儘量運用你的最佳判斷力。

  • If you don't understand what a word means or if you do not understand what an expression means, try to guess what it means based on the context that you're provided with.

    如果你不理解某個單字的意思,或者不理解某個表達的意思,請試著根據上下文猜測它的意思。

  • Do not try to look up every single word you don't understand, or else this can get a little bit frustrating and it will not be very time efficient.

    不要試圖去查每一個你不理解的單字,否則會讓你感到有點沮喪,而且也不會有效率。

  • Now, let's look at how to get your listening skills from the intermediate up to the advanced level of English.

    現在,讓我們來看看如何將英語聽力程度從中級提升到高級。

  • First of all, listen to subjects that you are less familiar with, similar to reading, but as you're listening to the subjects that you are less familiar with,

    首先,聽你不太熟悉的科目,類似於閱讀,但是當你在聽你不太熟悉的科目時,

  • I want you to pay really close attention to advanced words that you're not familiar with and literary devices in English and how they're used.

    我希望你們仔細留意那些你們不熟悉的高級單字和英語中的文學手法,以及它們是如何使用的。

  • This involves what we would call "wordplay."

    這就是我們所說的「文字遊戲」。

  • A simple example of this could be an oxymoron, such as, this is terribly good.

    一個簡單的例子就是逆喻,比如「這真是好極了。」

  • Now, terrible means bad and good means good, but in the form of an oxymoron, using this literary device in English, it means that something is very good. It's terribly good. It's very good.

    現在,terrible 的意思是壞,good 的意思是好,但以逆喻的形式,用英語中的這種文學手法,它的意思是某樣東西非常好。好得可怕,非常好。

  • Little things like these are what you really need to pay attention to when you're listening in English.

    在英語聽力中,像這樣的小事才是你真正需要注意的。

  • Another thing that you need to do when you're practicing your listening is make an honest effort to understand all of the different accents of the English language.

    在練習聽力時,你需要做的另一件事就是努力聽懂英語中的各種口音。

  • Why is this important?

    為什麼這很重要?

  • Well, if you ever go to a big city anywhere in the world in an English-speaking country, there are going to be people in that big city from all over the world.

    如果你去世界上任何一個英語國家的大城市,你會發現那裡有來自世界各地的人。

  • You may encounter someone who is from India and speaks English with an Indian accent.

    你可能會遇到來自印度的人,他說的英語帶有印度口音。

  • You may encounter someone from China who speaks English with a Chinese accent.

    你可能會遇到一些來自中國的人,他們說的英語帶有中國口音。

  • You want to have a strong enough command for the English language where you can understand people of all different backgrounds.

    你要有足夠強的英語語言能力,能夠理解各種不同背景的人。

  • And finally, when you're listening, pay really close attention to how well-spoken people in the English language apply advanced grammatical rules.

    最後,當你在聽的時候,請仔細留意英語口說好的人是如何運用高級文法的。

  • I'll talk more about grammar later in this video.

    等等會在影片中詳細介紹文法。

  • Let's talk about how to get your writing skills from the intermediate level up to the advanced level.

    讓我們來談談如何將寫作技巧從中級提升到高級。

  • You need to apply your observations from reading and listening into writing.

    你需要將閱讀和聽力中的觀察結果應用到寫作中。

  • A very easy way to do this and to apply your writing skills is by expressing and forming an opinion about what you just watched or what you just read.

    要做到這一點並運用寫作技巧,一個非常簡單的方法就是對剛剛觀看的內容或剛剛閱讀的內容發表看法並形成觀點。

  • As you're expressing and forming your opinion, make an effort to actually try to apply the new vocabulary words and idioms that you've learned when you were reading and when you were listening.

    在表達和形成自己的觀點時,要努力嘗試實際應用閱讀和聽力時學到的新詞彙和習語。

  • This may seem small, but it's actually really, really important.

    這一點看似很小,但實際上非常非常重要。

  • If you physically apply the things that you've learned, and if you physically use words that you are unfamiliar with, it will be very difficult to forget after using them enough times.

    如果你能身體力行地運用所學到的東西,如果你能身體力行地使用不熟悉的單詞,那麼在使用足夠多的次數後,就很難忘記了。

  • This somewhat ties in with speaking.

    這與演講有些聯繫。

  • So how can you get from the intermediate to the advanced level of speaking in English?

    那麼,如何才能將英語口說從中級提高到高級呢?

  • It's a similar concept to writing.

    這與寫作的概念類似。

  • You really need to physically apply.

    你需要身體力行。

  • You need to physically speak the words and the expressions that you learned when reading and when listening.

    你需要身體力行地說出你在閱讀和聽力中學到的單詞和表達方式。

  • But in addition to this, try to use synonyms to the words that you already know and the expressions that you already know to avoid sounding too repetitive.

    但除此之外,還要儘量使用同義詞來表達你已經知道的單詞和表達方式,以避免聽起來過於重複。

  • It's important to note that all advanced speakers of the English language have a wide array of vocabulary.

    值得注意的是,所有高級英語使用者都擁有大量詞彙。

  • They do not overuse words such as literally or very.

    他們不會過度使用 literally 或 very 等詞語。

  • It's okay to use these words in moderation, but you should not be using them every single sentence that you say or that you write.

    適度使用這些詞語是可以的,但不能每句話或每篇文章都使用這些詞語。

  • Something that will help you with speaking is to find a role model.

    在演講方面,找到一個榜樣會對你有所幫助。

  • Find someone whose style of speech you want to emulate.

    找一個你想模仿其演講風格的人。

  • From there, you can constantly adopt new words and new expressions that you want to adopt into your own arsenal of English vocabulary that you can use to speak.

    接下來,你就可以不斷地把你想要採用的新單詞和新表達方式納入你自己的英語詞彙庫中,供你在說話時使用。

  • Next, let's look at how you can improve your grammar.

    接下來,讓我們看看如何改善文法。

  • Something that is tricky for people learning English as a second language is paying attention to the advanced ways that one can use the past, the present, and the future tenses in the English language.

    對於把英語作為第二語言來學習的人來說,最棘手的問題是要注意在英語中使用過去式、現在式和未來式的高級文法。

  • You really need to pay attention to any conditions that are used, particularly in storytelling, in both spoken and written English.

    你需要注意任何使用的條件,尤其是在講故事時,無論是口說還是書面英語。

  • However, do keep in mind that even native English speakers do not speak with perfect grammar, typically write with perfect grammar either.

    不過,請記住,即使是以英語為母語的人,也不會用完美的文法說話,通常也不會用完美的文法寫作。

  • To find sources with good English grammar, I would recommend that you use texts that have been published as opposed to interviews and podcasts.

    要找到英語語法良好的資料來源,我建議你使用已出版的文章,而不是訪談和播客。

  • With interviews and podcasts, especially if it's live, people are going to make mistakes.

    訪談和播客,尤其是直播,人們總會犯錯。

  • With a published article, an editor has probably proofread the article on several occasions and made sure that the grammar is fairly well-written.

    已發表的文章,編輯可能會多次校對,確保文法寫得相當好。

  • You can use that as a base and then you can apply your observations from there with your writing and with your speaking.

    你可以以此為基礎,然後將你的觀察結果運用到寫作和演講中。

  • Now, finally, vocabulary.

    最後,單字。

  • Now, it's recommended by the experts that you should have at least 5,000 vocabulary words in your arsenal to be at the C2 level of the English language.

    專家建議,要達到 C2 程度,你的詞彙量至少要達到 5,000 個。

  • However, it's important that you also have a very extensive active vocabulary and not just an extensive passive vocabulary.

    不過,重要的是,你還要掌握大量的主動詞彙,而不僅僅是大量的被動詞彙。

  • If you can understand everything in English, but you can't use everything in English because you've never practiced pronouncing it or expressing yourself enough, then you can't really become a fluent English speaker at the C2 level.

    如果你能聽懂所有的英語,但卻不能使用所有的英語,因為你從來沒有練習過發音或表達,那麼你就不可能真正成為 C2 的流利英語使用者。

  • When you learn words, focus on physically using what you learnt and it will be almost impossible to forget if you've used it so many times that you couldn't forget even if you tried.

    在學習單詞時,要注重身體力行地運用所學的知識,如果你已經用過很多次,即使想忘也忘不了,那就幾乎不可能忘記了。

  • And those are the six ways to go from the intermediate level of English to the advanced level of English.

    這就是從中級英語到高級英語的六種方法。

  • If you have any questions, feel free to reach out on Instagram and I will respond.

    如果你有任何問題,請隨時通過 Instagram 聯繫我,我會給你答覆。

  • And if you want to test your current level of English, I will leave a link in the pinned comment below for you to take that quiz.

    如果你想測試自己目前的英語水平,我會在下面的評論中留下連結供你進行測驗。

  • That's all. Until next time.

    就這樣吧。下次再見。

So today, you're going to learn how to go from the intermediate levels of English up to the advanced levels of English, okay?

今天,你們將學習如何將英文程度從中級提升到高級,好嗎?
