i went for the oriental ceviche and this would be peruvian japanese fusion this would be nike food
all righty friends hello hello hello greetings from lima peru greetings and today we have a very
special video for you yeah it's going to involve a lot of eating on our end because we want to show
you the different types of ceviche that you can get here in lima peru right and in case you don't
know ceviche is considered the national dish of peru it is basically a raw fish cured in lime
but i mean you have your classic recipe but you can also kind of experiment and get fancy with it
so that's what we're going to be doing so we're going to be showing you what it's like to have
it at a local fisherman's market we're also going to take you to restaurants and uh yeah we're going
to show you at least three different locations so it's basically a ceviche taste test challenge
here in lima peru we're super pumped it's a food that we just i mean we just go nuts eating it
when we're in lima we have it it was the first thing we did once we were back almost almost
daily with someone found a way to have it there you go so loads of ceviche coming up coming up
oh
um
so we came to the fisherman's market here in chorridos it's called mercado artisanal de
pescadores and this is where they sell their fresh fish and apparently just next door they
have a few little kind of like casual restaurants where you can get your fresh ceviche and different
dishes i'm trying to befriend the pelicans over my shoulder there's a whole bunch of them here
down on the beach looking very friendly waiting for their fish they're fresh fish i think these
guys are very well fed and then they also have boat tours here you can see like little row boats
it's a bit of a foggy day i don't think it's the best day for a for a boat tour but yeah this is
the spot i'm going to try and find like a little ceviche to go in a little cup because we are
heading to a restaurant with the family um but i do want to try my ceviche at the fish market
look at this doesn't that look nice does that look amazing we've got fresh local ceviche in the cup
sold for five soles each five so just over less than this geez that's like a doll or something
wanna hold one
take that mask off can breathe so this is actually they call it leche de tigre
because they're giving you a lot of that fish juice yeah and you're you're also getting the
breaded fish as well look at this yeah there's some breaded and fried fish um
oh you did that yes okay let me try the leche de tigre
oh yeah that's the real deal nice and sour potent i'll try a little banana chip here
let's see if i can get down i got the actual ceviche look at that what's the canchita you
have the red onions you have the corn the breaded fish nice small snack portion size
delicious affordable and very local too this is like a local beach local market and so it's a nice
kind of cool authentic experience to have here in lima highly recommend
they're trying to get sam to buy a bathing suit
um
oh
okay so we have made it inside the restaurant we are at kantarana do you know what it means
no what is it the singing frog oh my gosh that's hilarious what a name for a restaurant yes and the
coolest thing here it's another weekend another family outing we're here with the whole crew and
yeah this is a very popular place we were waiting outside for what 15-20 minutes huge line outside
you can dine outside or you can dine in and what's really cool about this place in particular
is just how packed it is and the atmosphere reminds us so much of this pizzeria in argentina
in buenos aires called el puertito yeah i'll mention i'll mention quickly this is actually
a peruvian argentine restaurant and the cool thing is that we've ordered from both of the
countries you're getting the ceviche yeah and i'm getting the milanesa ala napolitana
so the napolitan melanesa so can't wait we're gonna fill our faces and we're super hungry
so dreams are made out right
i could have just done a whole plate of that satisfied is here it has arrived so let's take a
closer look so i can tell you everything that's in here i got the mixed ceviche so it's not just fish
it has the shrimp it has uh calamari different types of seafoods all mixed in
of course the red onions that's classic my corn sweet potato this has a little bit of
seaweed on it so that's cool and let's try a piece with both fish and shrimp and this has
been cured in lime juice it is delicious i am obsessed with ceviche by the way
so good so i got the ceviche but i also wanted to show you my uncle's dish so my uncle got a similar
variation of this dish it's called the appaldalo and it's also like raw cured fish but it doesn't
have the onions or the aji like my dish does and also his had avocado on top wow there you go
i love that first sam's dish it came with rice like this is such an argentine dish
you would typically have it with fries or mashed potatoes but we are in peru so
rice must be there hence the rice all right we're taking advantage of the
capabilities of the ultra wide gopro here aren't we this is great so i have got the argentine
napolitana milanesa which is basically the breaded cutlet that comes with cheese
pam and tomato sauce all right check this out guys look at all that cheesy goodness
oh yeah that's the real deal i haven't had one of these in a very long time i've been craving it
i've been having so much seafood that i thought we're gonna mix it up a little bit
and get some argentine meat in me okay so we just finished lunch how was it oh man it was amazing
so full very like beyonce yeah i really need to reel it in a bit so we wanted to do bright price
points we wanted to do price point as always give you an idea of the cost so my dish was 45 soles
sam's was mine was 50. so that would be about 11 to 13 yeah approximately so respectively 10
is 38 so yeah yeah exactly so good value great atmosphere in there i can see why it's popular
there was a long line to get in let me tell you seriously yeah yeah it was worth it worth the wait
though for sure very much worth it so i know we're making a ceviche video so i will get back on the
ceviche train tomorrow yeah i promise there's sort of the next yeah coming up so this is a little
deviation so next restaurant guys we continue with our ceviche taste test across the city
different styles different varieties and in today's video we're taking you to one of our
favorite restaurants that we try to visit every time we're in this all-time favorite it is called
yeah it does have a blue door maybe i need to make my own restaurant called the blue door what
do you think for the confusion stem cells painted blue yeah um but yeah they specialize in seafood
so we're gonna be ordering once again different varieties of ceviche to give you an idea of what
this peruvian national dish is all about and we hope you enjoy let's enjoy it okay guys so i have
a beautiful looking oriental ceviche here however we're gonna start with samuel yes
who went for something else i got the parmesan risotto shrimp delight i think you get this
every time we talk yeah i'm just remembering i'm like i had this before guys this is just
cheesy creamy goodness look at this look at this look at all that cheese stretching out like that
that's gonna be a glorious first bite it's made with arborio rice some nice chicken paste
that was super hot i bet like not spicy but i should have blew that i should have flown on
that is creamy goodness creamy cheesy goodness taken to a whole new level it's just incredibly
rich it's like something you can't really get anywhere else huh like i i i don't think i've had
it anywhere else since i've been here so it's just like a taste i've been you know secretly craving
for years so nice to be eating it again and to go along with it we have chicha murala would
you want to tell us about that yeah that's the blue purple corn drink very refreshing sweet and
sometimes i think they add like kind of like a cinnamon or clove to it gives it a bit of a
kick doesn't it it tastes really good um i mean it's not that hot but i'm really thirsty today
so really enjoying it alrighty guys voila hello my dish i went for the oriental risotto because
not versailles i just tried sam's persona i went for the oriental ceviche because we've already
shown you what a peruvian ceviche looks like and this would be peruvian japanese fusion this would
be nike food so the fish is still cured in lime juice but we also have a little bit of soy sauce
which makes all the difference and you can also see the little bits of green the chives
wow that is limey creamy and salty goodness that is very good i like that so many trips to peru and
this is my first time trying like fusion ceviche in japanese peruvian ingredients elements combined
and it asks for it extra spicy and they deliver if you can see here we have the the red chili you can
see it right there yeah and they also like blended it with the the tiger's milk this is the tiger's
milk is like the fish juice and the lime that's the best sauce and the spices i just love it
you can get like a little shooter you can't that's awesome you can like a little shot
glass yeah of just fish juice and lime you got to try it it sounds so much better than it just let
me explain it it really does and if you're on if you're anywhere along the coast like this is what
you get this is what you want to try some kind of ceviche so very pleased very happy with this and
i think we may have room for dessert oh we'll make room we always we always make the room we make the
by the fancy spoon look how tall it is look how cute it is it's so small it's like a teaspoon
it's like three times as long as a normal teaspoon you're gonna need
it to dig into this jar so what do we got here we got a dessert called
merengue the chili moda so you've got like a creamy meringue yeah with a fruit that's man
yeah and then the creamy layer in between that is the manjar blanco so the cherimoya is a really
interesting fruit that's something that your grandma loves it's white and fleshy and creamy
and sweet and then the manchado blanco is like a creamy milky you know rich caramel very sweet
you know what this is like it's like a gourmet pudding it has a texture of a gourmet food
it's just so smooth it's just an awesome dessert i love it i totally love it and we're
sharing sharing look at that hello all right guys so we just finished that meal at punto
thoughts feeling phenomenal emotions full but in a good way like kind of like comfortably full not
yeah you know what i mean like i don't want to eat any more but i'm not like oh i over did it it was
just the perfect amount of food really generous portions for the main it's really good that we
only shared a dessert oh that was just what we needed anything else would have been excess would
have been way too much yeah and the also the chicharrado just paired really nicely with the
seafood too yeah so in terms of the price point just a phenomenal deal really it only came to 121
soles so you're talking like just something over 30 us dollars yeah it'd be like 15 16 something
dollars per person i mean to eat that well and we just love that place it's kind of um says center
there's a lot of sentimental value going back there kind of connects the past with the present
if that makes sense oh my what a wrap up london yeah i i loved it and uh it was a great way for us
to finish our ceviche challenge and also to show you guys some other other foods you can eat along
at the restaurant aside from ceviche too yeah so we hope you enjoyed it and more videos coming soon
you
