  • Hi guys, welcome back to Tokyo Creative play.

  • I'm Natasha, I'm Alex and we are trying some emergency food today.

  • So basically in Japan, they sell emergency food to prepare you for disasters or it can easily be packed for like things like camping, you don't want to cook, you can just bring it to your camping trip.

  • The best part about emergency food is it's really simple to prepare.

  • You don't even need a Microwave.

  • Some of you know, all the things that we got today don't require any.

  • No way.

  • Even this cake.

  • Yeah, heat or microwave or anything.

  • What?

  • So all of these emergency foods have a really long lifespan shelf life.

  • So these items go for around 3-5 years each, which we will go into detail as we eat that.

  • What do we buy?

  • We are going to go through the course is like a full course meal.

  • I mean if you're in the disaster, I don't think you get all this in one go, that's true.

  • But we're just going to try our hand at different things.

  • So we have bread, some bread, like you know, little snacky bits and then we have full meals, like actual food.

  • We're gonna finish off with dessert.

  • We also have a little can of vegetable juice here that will last until 2025.

  • That's crazy.

  • But along with these drinks, we also have a cup of our very own freshly squeezed lemonade with mint and cucumber which we just made, we did a T.

  • C.

  • Holmes episode of Alex's apartment.

  • So if you're interested in checking that out, links up there, We just came back from washing our hands.

  • Remember at least 20 seconds.

  • Sing the birthday song twice.

  • Like soap.

  • It wealth and good.

  • Alright even though we're not sharing food, we have our own separate plates and bowls and some serving spoon and everything.

  • We're gonna start off with bread.

  • So they have three types of bread in this so they have orange, black bean and whatever pucci where there is no idea, we'll find out.

  • So wait, when is the expiry date for this one?

  • 2025.

  • Okay.

  • So imagine with a solid five years before we can eat this.

  • Have you tried emergency?

  • I have never tried emergency food before.

  • So this is a brand new experience for me.

  • It's fun.

  • I heard like it's not as bad as it looks.

  • It's actually pretty good.

  • It's like a normal meal but you've do you feel like there's a lot of preservation inside there?

  • So they're just like three blocks literally.

  • That's so cute.

  • And they don't say the flavors so I guess we're just gonna have to guess.

  • Oh no they do.

  • Okay I'm blind.

  • Oh that's so cute.

  • Actually pretty nice.

  • Like can you see that the bakery?

  • You wouldn't think that this is an emergency food.

  • Yeah my eyes deceive me.

  • I see a little orange peel here.

  • Hi.

  • Okay so it's a really dense bread.

  • I'm just pressing it.

  • I'm trying to break it apart.

  • I do want to smell it but I don't wanna.

  • How does it smell like?

  • Oh, it smells like dog food.

  • No, it does.

  • It smells like my dark food.

  • Okay.

  • Yeah, it smells like dog food.

  • My appetite just went off.

  • My stomachs still growling though.

  • I'm really hungry.

  • Oh wow.

  • It's so tough.

  • Right?

  • It can kill someone.

  • Okay, documents oh, the orange flavor is coming.

  • It's like dark with No, I think once you put in your mouth you don't smell the dog food anymore.

  • The more you eat it, it gets better.

  • I feel.

  • No.

  • Yeah, I'm not really looking forward to to really.

  • I don't mind it so much as the saliva sips into the bread more, the flavor kind of deepens and you can kind of taste more of the orange and I don't smell the dog food nous.

  • It does smell different than how it tastes like it's so dry during a disaster.

  • I don't mind eating, but I don't think you can be tricky.

  • That looks not so bad.

  • It's like normal bread?

  • Yeah, I don't really, I really don't mind that.

  • That's the real question.

  • If you're lazy to pack anything, would you buy this over convenient bread?

  • No, this is harder to get than convening bread.

  • Yeah, it's more expensive.

  • Right?

  • Yeah.

  • But this is like an emergency.

  • I think you could eat this, but if I went to the convenience store and I got bread that tasted like this.

  • I don't think I'll be bad.

  • I think it's fine.

  • Just a really nice simple girl mystery flavor.

  • It looks a little greenish maybe pan done pandan flavor.

  • I wish that we have here.

  • Japanese people love pandan cake, you know.

  • Right.

  • No, I don't.

  • Anyway.

  • Yeah.

  • Why I smell it.

  • What's that?

  • This one tastes like dark food.

  • Maybe that's what it is.

  • Like.

  • I think the orange one the best me to like the mystery flavor.

  • No, no, I was gonna give this box how many stars out of 5, 2.5 to 2.

  • Beautiful pan can, another bread pan can in english.

  • But in japanese, some of the ingredients included.

  • Following are you allergy to milk?

  • No beans, no egg, no apple, no wheat.

  • No, you're fine.

  • Let's eat this.

  • Okay, awesome.

  • So this one last for three years until 2023 instructions.

  • You just open it and eat it.

  • There were a couple of flavors.

  • Right?

  • Yeah.

  • Like strawberry, blueberry and all that.

  • But I thought this is the season spring into summer season to eat strawberries.

  • Yeah, it is.

  • Oh, actually it smells like tuna.

  • No, it smells like strawberry.

  • Oh now it does, it smells like tuna.

  • It smells like strawberry and her nose is spoiled.

  • I'm just really hungry.

  • This is going to be a Natasha's breakfast for the next week will tell them that they think I'm really sad.

  • I'm really sad.

  • We're gonna like role play and eat like we're sharing food.

  • We're in a disaster, we're trapped in our house kind of roll.

  • Please there's an earthquake.

  • I don't know.

  • Oh my God, look at the earthquake.

  • Can you feel like if there's an earthquake need to be under the table not eating bread.

  • Mm yummy.

  • Mm hmm.

  • I like this one, wow guys, this is really good.

  • My god, this is really yummy.

  • So much better than that box of fluffy.

  • Just has more flavor overall.

  • It's not like painfully dry.

  • It sucks all the saliva of that one does that.

  • Yeah.

  • So like if you're looking for bread, okay, I will read this like a solid four out of five.

  • I would say four out of five.

  • Let's move on to the real good stuff.

  • Real deal.

  • The stuff that we've been waiting for.

  • Yes, the actual meals, hamburg.

  • So there's a lot of japanese on the box that we can't really read because we don't have anyone else around us.

  • But please bear with us.

  • This is a waffle hamburger, right?

  • So this is all in one bento box.

  • It's demo demo demo means anywhere and anytime Jonathan photo your job is to, I can't read this food.

  • They're so useful so like not useful.

  • So we're gonna show you step by step on how to heat the food up.

  • Oh and also the expiry date is in three years.

  • So one time when I was eating emergency food, I did a video, the alarm rang.

  • Why started ringing really lovely Because they have a lot of chemicals coming out from the steam.

  • Is everything gonna be okay?

  • It's okay.

  • It's like there's a lot of steam.

  • So they thought their supplier it's that hot.

  • Yeah.

  • Okay.

  • Meanwhile while she's figuring that out, I'm gonna pop open the can of little veggie juice.

  • I don't drink veggie juice.

  • I think it sounds disgusting.

  • I like veggie juice.

  • Okay.

  • You can drink it 30 times of veggie in this.

  • Oh, that's a lot.

  • It's bright orange.

  • Mm hmm.

  • It smells like chili sauce.

  • I like it.

  • It tastes like tomato juice.

  • Do you like tomato juice?

  • Oh, I love this one.

  • I wouldn't like drink this as a hey.

  • It's a beverage.

  • It kind of tastes like tomato soup.

  • It does.

  • I like it.

  • Yeah, I'm not against it.

  • So I was healthy weight.

  • There's a casual 44 or five.

  • Not bad.

  • Yeah.

  • Oh, with the reaction of the water in this, together with this bag heats things up.

  • Oh my God.

  • Okay.

  • This is the thing that makes it warm.

  • It reacted with water because when you touch water with it, it starts bubbling.

  • Like, oh my God, don't do that.

  • The last step is the best part.

  • Put it inside here.

  • It's really hot because you're gonna burn your hands here.

  • Isn't this exciting?

  • It's so fun.

  • Who knew disasters because, Oh my God.

  • So we're gonna set this aside for 20 minutes.

  • It looks intense.

  • Steam.

  • Who waters mostly gone, wow, it is super, completely evaporated.

  • I got no fingernails.

  • Oh my God, she just stabbed the rice.

  • Oh, smells a three.

  • You.

  • That's so cute.

  • A classic mix of your frozen vegetables.

  • So there's some corn, carrots, peas and also three little hamburger.

  • You're so adorable.

  • Okay, so tiny.

  • Mm.

  • Okay, the after taste is a bit weird.

  • I don't know how to describe it, but I'm saying it tastes very one dimensional.

  • So I think it's fine.

  • You think you like it?

  • Yeah, I don't mind it.

  • Yeah, I'm not a big fan of the sauce to be honest.

  • I really like Quincy.

  • I'm really hungry.

  • So I feel like if you're an emergency that you just eat it.

  • I think it's pretty yummy.

  • So I know they have a few kinds like this.

  • Actually.

  • You have lots of curry, different kinds of, lots of curry.

  • So if you're a curry fan, you're in luck in an emergency.

  • Okay, so how many stars out of five?

  • 2.5.

  • What is really low?

  • I don't like the sauce.

  • Sorry, what about you?

  • I'll give you 3.5 at least.

  • Okay, let's do this one too.

  • We have to wait for 16.

  • I don't let's go ahead and prepare the next one.

  • Which is a, just a bowl of nice rice with curry on it.

  • 2022.

  • So this one I think has the shortest expiry date.

  • Everything.

  • But yeah, this is for 1.5 people.

  • Why is it 1.5 people, it looks like the olympics.

  • Yeah.

  • Right here we have price.

  • I think this one does need one hour because dr oh my God, this is some weird looking rice.

  • Okay, It looks like crystals.

  • Yeah, you can make it without hot water but it will take 60 minutes, but if you do have hot water it'll be 20 minutes.

  • So it's gonna be like curry drenched over the rice.

  • Maybe more like a curry risotto.

  • What's your face like that?

  • You don't like curry, risotto?

  • I like porridge, so I like porridge but not like that.

  • How is everything going to fit in there?

  • That's what she said.

  • They're like really big chunky boys of chicken in there, some pieces of carrots and I saw a bit of potato and everything.

  • I'm sure we'll be able to see more clearly once we eat it and put it on the plate but like it's just like a whole bunch of stuff coming out, exciting.

  • Oh um yes, I'm assuming that it would be like an overnight oatmeal kind of situation, but the courage just soaks into the rice.

  • Yeah, let's let's put in hot water.

  • Okay we forgot to mention but like the whole reason why we decided to do an emergency food video is because quite recently there has been a number of earthquakes in japan.

  • Yeah actually this is a few days ago, the two a.m. One, A two a.m. One.

  • Oh my God, the alarm rang like everyone had the alarm maybe most in the region.

  • It's, it's just so like the earthquake alarm is so scary.

  • It's so jarring.

  • It's like and it looks like, yeah, it's so scary.

  • It's so scary.

  • That actually scared me more than an earthquake immediately when there's an earthquake in Japan.

  • I will go on twitter to search more earthquake and everyone says the same thing that the alarm is the scary bit.

  • Yeah, yeah, it's really loud.

  • You can't control the settings on your phone even if you put it like on mute, it makes everything seem bigger than it is because I think Japan has a lot of small scale earthquakes and the alarm will not bring every time that there's a mini earthquake.

  • So this just makes you feel like, oh shoot a big one is coming, but it was fine.

  • At least where we are.

  • So thankfully that everyone is okay.

  • We okay, we don't have to without our emergency kits or anything.

  • All right.

  • You ready to eat this curry rice?

  • Okay.

  • Doesn't look like a risotto.

  • It does.

  • Right.

  • Oh, that's a mushroom.

  • That's a mushroom.

  • It smells so good.

  • I wish you guys can smell this.

  • Ah ha!

  • You're just a big baby.

  • Hmm, I like it.

  • I like it too.

  • Well this one is chicken.

  • So it's Halloween.

  • So for you, muslim friends out there, you guys can definitely get this one.

  • I highly recommend it.

  • So we saw a lot of interesting things like and stuff and I really wanted to try those.

  • But I think we have enough food here.

  • Oh man.

  • Imagine if we ate all of that.

  • Five stars, wow, okay.

  • Five.

  • If you're wondering how spicy this curry don is from a scale of 1 to 10.

  • The two.

  • This is two.

  • Yeah, it's actually, you can taste it right?

  • It's a bit spicy.

  • You finish it.

  • She finished all of it.

  • Oh, alright.

  • So last but not least we're gonna jump straight to dessert.

  • The best part.

  • We have cheesecake.

  • Do you like cheesecake?

  • I love cheesecake.

  • Who doesn't love cheesecake monster.

  • But they say you can just open and eat it straight from it.

  • So yeah, expiry date is 2000 and 22 in two years.

  • So this one's pretty short.

  • Same as the curry cake.

  • It smells like cheesecake.

  • Oh, it smells pretty good.

  • Yeah, like a baked cheesecake.

  • Happy birthday to you.

  • It was just my birthday when 25th of you.

  • Happy birthday.

  • Thank you.

  • This is my birthday celebration.

  • I wish I really have candles sitting around somewhere.

  • That's fine.

  • Oh wait, hold on.

  • This is where I plug in my own vlog on channel.

  • You can watch my birthday Vlog.

  • I'm so excited.

  • Here is just a tiny some spoon is not tiny.

  • I'm not sure if I like it.

  • It's really not bad.

  • It does have the cheesecake texture.

  • And really the key.

  • You could mistake it for just cheese though.

  • Yeah.

  • If you smell it actually tastes like cheddar cheese.

  • It's actually still moist.

  • Yeah.

  • Little droplets.

  • Looks like it's nervous that cheesecake is sweating.

  • Okay, so how many stars out of five?

  • 4.2.

  • The more I eat, the more I like it.

  • It's really nice that we have 4.5 because I like desserts.

  • Okay.

  • And we have one more that we actually have to make.

  • I think so, this is soybean flour with brown sugar on top of and it's a classic japanese dessert.

  • Everybody loves it.

  • And I'm guessing everybody loves it.

  • Sorry, that's a generalization.

  • Oh, we have six blocks of Malachi.

  • Really dry freeze dried monkey, pour water into the tray in the mochi let it soak back for like one minute.

  • Mhm.

  • Soft.

  • Is it sticky?

  • Yes, it is slipping into the mixer.

  • O generous amount.

  • I'm sure there's more enough.

  • There's only six pieces of cheese.

  • You can put more.

  • Okay, get honest.

  • Yes.

  • Mhm.

  • Okay, now I'm gonna try.

  • I'm gonna dig in again.

  • If you were in a disaster.

  • You will not be complaining.

  • Okay.

  • Yeah, but you'd just be like, happy you have some sweet resemblance of a dessert, you know.

  • Oh, wow.

  • I'm excited already.

  • I would say that the multi texture isn't bad at all.

  • It's just a bit.

  • Mm hmm.

  • It's like yummy.

  • But I feel like in the middle there was a weird taste like it's too hard and right.

  • I like it.

  • It's really nice.

  • It's chewy.

  • It's sweet.

  • I wish to give more of the, you get what you mean in the middle.

  • It's like right there was this weird taste in the middle.

  • I think this is like a privilege in emergency.

  • For sure.

  • This You wouldn't be like, yeah, the motion is a little off texture.

  • You like it better than the cheesecake.

  • Yeah.

  • This is probably my favorite out of all of it.

  • How many stars would you break this?

  • Five?

  • I'll give it a 44.

  • And I like the cheesecake better.

  • Okay, that's it for all the emergency food that we had.

  • Honestly, I really like this one.

  • What's your favorite out of all of it?

  • I like the cheesecake.

  • The cheesecake cheesecake is pretty good.

  • But the curry was so filling as I know, I was so hungry.

  • So like, I think overall everything was pretty yummy experience.

  • That's cool.

  • I think the first bred the first bread was So, these are just some examples of what emergency food they have in Japan.

  • But I'm sure like very different countries and different dishes and food.

  • So let us know in the comments down below what kind of food you can find in your country.

  • And also, I don't think these emergency food is far different from military rations.

  • So I've tried us military rations before and they are actually pretty good.

  • So if you're free and want to try food from different countries, I think you can order them from amazon.

  • They might be a little bit more expensive.

  • So you went down to the shop, we bought this like way before everything closed by the way.

  • So yeah, but you can buy them from Tokyo hands or loft.

  • So just give it a go get the chance.

  • But also please prepare your emergency kit if you have like disasters in the country and stuff like always be prepared I say that but I have to get my ready to.

  • Thanks for watching watching this video and yeah, we'll see you in the next one.

  • Stay safe.

  • Bye.

  • I wonder what would happen if I eat this raw.

  • I die.

  • It will probably be really crunchy rice or something cucumber.

  • I almost choked on my cucumber almost.

  • It's super hot like meat.
