  • These are winter only limited time japanese snacks.

  • Oh, mm hmm.

  • I don't know about all of you, but it is super cold here in japan and to be honest, I don't really like the cold unless I'm up on the mountain snowboarding or something like that.

  • But one of the things that I do love about the winters here in japan is that the snack companies bring the heat with all of their new products.

  • They have a limited time only winter special is that you can only get during this time.

  • So it just gets me really excited and I wanted to share all of these next with you this time around for this year.

  • But y'all know the deal before we start this video.

  • If you guys want to help support the channel, check out the shibuya merch.

  • If you guys just want to see what I'm doing on the daily, check out my instagram account and if you have any questions about Japan or your Japan travels, check out my discord community.

  • That said, here's some fire for this cold as winter.

  • You want some, you want some number one, you, you potato powder snow cheese flavor from calvi calvi coming hot with their fuyu potato eating winter potato.

  • Actually they have several different kinds of potato for this season.

  • They have their hot potato, which is like spring, they have their nuts, potatoes, summer and so on.

  • And then they have this special potato for the winter.

  • So this year says kona Yuki cheese.

  • Ooh kona Yuki means powder snow.

  • So it's kind of like a powder snow cheese.

  • One thing to note is that these potatoes are from Hokkaido.

  • So it actually uses three types of cheeses.

  • Carmen, Bell cheddar and Gouda and it's not just like caked on there, but they've taken it and just lightly sprinkled it on top.

  • Ah, fry the winter potatoes in a bag.

  • Take a bite of this crispy little chip you can see, wow, hmm, I cannot get enough of these chips.

  • In fact, this is one of Michael's favorites for the winter.

  • I love really, really cheesy potato chips, but this is cheesy but it's not super strong.

  • It's more of a gentle cheesiness, like adult luxury type cheesiness and it is kind of addictive where cheese taste builds and builds, makes you want to eat more.

  • So this is actually my favorite.

  • So good.

  • I was waiting for power to be done so I can finish this whole bad.

  • Um anyways, they made it powder snow cheese flavor, but the powder snow.

  • Lakey like melting goes away quickly.

  • Part is I think in the texture more so the flavor, it's like, it says here means like it's flaky and light crispy.

  • It also comes in another flavor powder snow salt.

  • It's an extremely light salt taste.

  • So it's not really one of my favorites, but you can taste the potato chip a bit more.

  • I don't know if we're going to see Michael again, but it's going to finish these chips.

  • Number two America pudding by motto.

  • What time is it pudding time?

  • This is the pudding that is only served in the winter.

  • I love what it says here.

  • It says meaning happiness only for this moment.

  • What tomato?

  • Maybe I should make a T shirt, wow, look at that blown out loveliness.

  • If I were to try to pour it, it would definitely come out.

  • Maybe it has a 45 degree consistency.

  • Do you always use a spoon or just like do some people just try to get their pudding like this?

  • Yeah.

  • Mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm.

  • I the only one that just tries to drink it like out of the cup that is so creamy.

  • It definitely has a milk taste.

  • It's super, super light.

  • Almost so light that it's close to bordering on just drinking straight up milk.

  • There is some consistency here, but once it goes in your mouth it just melts like sweet milk heaven.

  • Hmm It's kind of so rich that you think that this is quite a small serving.

  • But to be fair, I feel like this is all I need.

  • It is that rich and creamy.

  • But wow, that is so good.

  • Let's bring on the next one.

  • Number three.

  • Take no co no sato milk tea flavor by McGee winter edition to Conoco Nagasato.

  • Coming at you check this out.

  • We got milk tea for you.

  • I don't know, but I feel like in japan people are more in love with milk tea than Coco.

  • That's just observations, observations here.

  • It says right here.

  • Earl gray milk tea and bam you got the limited edition sticker right there.

  • This is around japan.

  • It is your chocolate snacks kind of like a biscuit cookie on the inside and they have the chocolate on the outside, bam bam bam.

  • Conoco is bamboo and then sato is kind of like village.

  • I guess you can see they have a bamboo village.

  • Usually it's kind of like a cookie biscuit smell but in here you can definitely smell the milk tea.

  • Mm hmm I feel like milky is getting poured all over my head right now.

  • I'm like just immersed in milk tea.

  • That is so milk tea.

  • They've done so well with making this milk tea flavor.

  • You can't even taste the chocolate and I love just how it has a crunchy biscuit center and they've solidified milk tea in this little chocolate biscuit.

  • Just amazing.

  • This is something another product that they can probably sell throughout the year.

  • Number four Odin kansai style by toy role.

  • So nothing says winter in Japan like odin and look at this, it comes in a super duper mobile package.

  • You can take this on the road, you can take it to school, you can take it to work and whenever you need it, you can just pop it in the microwave and you are good to go with your own day and love warm it up chris.

  • I'm about to warm it up chris that's what this one is there kansai version.

  • And then the other one that I've seen is guava version.

  • Oh this is the most lydia wouldn't I've ever seen in my life?

  • That smells like a japanese combination in the winter.

  • For those of you that don't know what it is.

  • Like one of those typical winter meals here in japan.

  • They have it in the convenience stores like sitting at the register just all heated up and then put it in a bowl and then like they charge you per item.

  • Look at all of this loveliness.

  • I love how you have this kind of like a side window pane here.

  • So you can see all the ingredients inside.

  • Let's just take a sip of this super quick.

  • That is the odin soup.

  • It's like dashi but a little bit lighter.

  • Um I think that's what the con side.

  • I think they have like a lighter dashi area.

  • First of all you have you susie here.

  • Mm hmm.

  • It's a fairly tender piece of meat.

  • Not bad.

  • It's like kind of like a tripod.

  • That has a full egg right there.

  • Mm wow!

  • That is amazing.

  • You know like having a full egg usually fills me up.

  • It takes a lot of room in my stomach and there you go.

  • You have daikon radish, wow!

  • That is super soft.

  • Makes sense.

  • It's been marinating in this juice for so long.

  • That is so soft.

  • Like it just melts when you take a bite.

  • So nice.

  • It has a cognac which is I think maybe an english con jack.

  • Mm hmm.

  • It has bouncy, very firm jelly texture.

  • I think one of the reasons why japan has such an interesting selection of products in the winter is because it's really the time where people get together, go home, see family and you're sitting literally inside of your house because it's so cold watching tv hanging out.

  • So people go to the convenience store to buy a lot of food and bring it home.

  • You just have all of these interesting snacks that people want to try.

  • So that's why a lot of snack manufacturers bring some of their best products during this time.

  • Number five.

  • Ghana White truffle by lat truffle shuffle, truffle shuffle, truffle shuffle, truffle shuffle.

  • Yeah, we got the premium Ghana white truffle.

  • This box just feels premium.

  • Look at this.

  • I feel like this should come with like a Vuitton bag or something.

  • Look at these wonderful pieces of white truffle chocolate.

  • It's so premium.

  • Only five come in the box.

  • A little mini snowballs.

  • Look how white that is.

  • It's like a moon.

  • Like this is the chocolate that they give you.

  • If you are riding first class on an airplane.

  • It almost looks like a reverse egg.

  • Mini quail egg.

  • I guess basically you have kind of like a powdered sugar on the outside.

  • You can see how like powdery it is.

  • And then just on the outer shell you have, they're gonna chocolate.

  • And then in the center I read this correctly in japanese.

  • Ooh, so put it in a chocolate just by checking online.

  • I put out in, it is supposed to be like roasted nuts mixed with caramel and I kind of like mashed up and it just has that luxury feeling it's pretty hard, but it is very rich and creamy on the inside.

  • Whoa!

  • I lost all my balls.

  • I think I said it's okay, five seconds.

  • All right, look at that.

  • It's even served on a gold spoons.

  • You know that it's luxury.

  • Let's see if we have a gold spoon.

  • I have a ton of silver spoons, but I didn't really have a gold spoon.

  • So I think this is the closest we're gonna get right there.

  • This is wolfie spoon and let's try, Let's see how this feels.

  • I don't know if the spoon made that much of a difference, but it is still pretty good.

  • So before we continue, I want, I want to give a quick shout out to our sponsor for this video squarespace.

  • Y'all ever want that sweet japanese winter nectar.

  • Then here you go, coming straight at you with the shine musket Fanta bringing it straight from the hood from their hood from their neighborhood.

  • I guess you do have this shine musket which is a brand of grape in japan.

  • Just have a little drink seat of this, Open it up.

  • Whoa, whoa, whoa!

  • What do we have here, wow, this is a very, a fresh vineyard sent like a punch of leafy greens, like when you open up a leaf and you smell inside.

  • Mhm They brought it back for the winter.

  • This is a musket that our grandparents used to tell us about what a historic flavor Michael Michael, this taste this drink.

  • I would have put white wine.

  • You put wine on anything or vodka, vodka.

  • Ooh, winter is here.

  • So there you go.

  • Michael's recommendation.

  • Mix it with alcohol number seven.

  • Ghana Pink chocolate by lat.

  • This next one is literally one of my favorites and go twos, but it's their winter edition special.

  • This is their Ghana pink chocolate.

  • I eat this one on the regular, but it's their black chocolate with vanilla inside.

  • Look, they got the pink strawberry chocolate special.

  • And what I love about this, I think I've actually shown this other videos is you're supposed to like eat this part first because it has kind of ice cream at the end and then you have like ice cream sandwich.

  • You can eat it without getting your hands dirty.

  • Take the first bite.

  • Mm hmm.

  • Put a smile on my face that is just like strawberry shake.

  • You just can't beat this.

  • You have the crispy outer pink chocolate shell.

  • Then you have the strawberry ice cream in the middle.

  • And I have the strawberry ice cream sandwich at the end.

  • Wow.

  • Even the sandwich itself is a strawberry.

  • What a beautiful treat.

  • Number eight powder snow chocola by bourbon.

  • What do you get when you mix fire and chocolate.

  • You get this bourbon loveliness.

  • The powder.

  • Snow choco to again, you guys maybe you're familiar with this word.

  • It is kona Yuki.

  • So powdered snow chocolate.

  • Let's open this up and breathe some life into our bones.

  • Look how nice they are.

  • Even in the box here, it says you have a wonderful winter.

  • Everyone is just so nice in the winter two for the price of one.

  • In fact, this is one of those like, let's go on a date packages.

  • Hey baby, I got the powder snow shop you wanna share.

  • So check this out.

  • It has to individually wrapped packets.

  • So you open it up and you're like boom, two cups of chocolate and one pick.

  • Let's take a bite of this looks like your standard.

  • It almost kind of looks like fudge.

  • Mhm mm hmm.

  • That is silky smooth.

  • It is almost like having putting but kind of like more of a condensed solidified form.

  • This one is mild.

  • So you don't get that like really, really bitter taste.

  • But it's also not like super, super sweet.

  • It's more like the texture is smooth and like more melty than anything.

  • They like powdered some of the cocoa on it.

  • So you do get kind of like this powdery layer on top.

  • If you take a bite, you can see almost kind of like two or three layers of chocolate.

  • Very, very delish.

  • Number nine.

  • A young gu Tanuki soba.

  • So with this one, we are going buck wild with some buckwheat noodles on this tanuki soba and basically it is buckwheat noodles and it has a dashi broth that's seasoned with soy sauce and then on top of it, they have like a tempura flakes.

  • You can kind of like here all inside.

  • This is huge.

  • This is like family style cooking right here.

  • Or maybe 3 to 4 people, maybe five.

  • You can see these people right here, that all around the table having a nice bowl of tanuki soba.

  • Oh just look how big this bowl is.

  • So let me just open this up before I heat it up just to show you what's inside this.

  • This is awesome.

  • Basically you have five slices of tempura in here and then you have all of this powder right here.

  • The seasoning, the spices.

  • If you look inside, you have five packages of solo, let me just cook it up real quick.

  • Since it's gigantic preparing.

  • It was just a little more work than the single bowl of brahman.

  • It even needed to point liters of water.

  • Oh, this is what I consider family style cooking.

  • And look at the steam coming from, They're supposed to only cook for three minutes.

  • I think I had it cooked for a little bit longer.

  • So as you can see when I start mixing this around and trying to get the pieces of tempura, it's starting to how do you say fall apart a little bit.

  • So these are regular chopsticks right here and I'm using these chopsticks right now because the bowl is so big.

  • These are usually used for cooking.

  • But yeah, we are doing this.

  • Look at all of those noodles right there.

  • Let me just take the first sip there.

  • Mm hmm.

  • And let's have one of the five pieces of temporal, wow, It is just falling apart.

  • And there's some tempura right there.

  • Mm Oh, that's good.

  • But kind of melted away.

  • So it's kind of spongy.

  • This is quite delicious.

  • I am really enjoying this.

  • I like the tempura though.

  • It has some shrimp.

  • I think inside you can see it's kind of falling apart.

  • But I got my big spoon.

  • Mm hmm.

  • This Dashi broth is so good, man, This is perfect for the family.

  • I guess you just have to get five different bowls and just separated out.

  • And even has some common local fish cake.

  • Some onions.

  • Standard Dashi.

  • Mm Man, I am not making a dent in this at all.

  • I think if I tried to eat this entire bowl all by myself, it would be one of those food challenges.

  • Maybe if you guys are interested in me doing something like that.

  • Like a food challenge type video, let me know in the comments.

  • You want to say hello to the camera while we're doing this.

  • Let's go Mr steve jaws.

  • I just want to sit here.

  • Wants to be part of the video.

  • I guess I've never had someone watching behind me.

  • It's kind of creepy.

  • You want to try.

  • Yeah, no, it's like really digging this so bad.

  • And number nine um yuzu lemonade sour and condensed milk strawberry by suntory, Japan wouldn't be Japan if they didn't have their winter.

  • A special alcohol brews.

  • This is there a chu hi, the one on the right is a condensed milk strawberry and on the left is a yuzu lemonade sour means a little buzz and it's a popular chu I drink series for light drinkers in Japan.

  • In fact, both of them 3% alcohol to be honest.

  • I haven't tried these ones so I'm just gonna have to quick try, I'll let you know which one is my favorite out of the two.

  • So when you come here you can try, let's quickly start with this strawberry milk.

  • Oh, that's light and the strawberry and it has a milk aftertaste, alcohol isn't strong at all.

  • That's actually pretty refreshing.

  • I love how it just happy winter event.

  • Not just like a winter gente as happy winter and if you have a few of these, I guess it'd be super, super happy.

  • Now let's try the yuzu lemon.

  • Whoa, that's a little sprite the right there again, not a strong alcohol.

  • Taste the yuzu is the strongest kind of flavor.

  • Very fantastic.

  • If I had to grade the two, I think they're all pretty good if you're a chu hi drinker, I would say if you just are going to have like one then maybe the strawberry milk just kind of feels a little more antsy and rich feels more fun.

  • Whereas if you're going to have several, you might want to go with the yuzu lemon because it's probably easier to drink.

  • But overall yeah, pretty good, pretty good.

  • Yeah, I just wanted to throw these in there just in case any of you love each of your two highs.

  • So those are my top, limited time only winter convenience snacks.

  • If you guys like this video helped me out and hit that like button.
