And that's what loving yourself means.

It means that

Adam and Eve.

No priest has been there before,

no religion has been there before;

clean.

Start like Adam and Eve --

just think of the idea!

Why bother about the past?

Forget about it.

忘掉它

You are the first man.

你是第一個人

Start living as if

宛如你不知道

you don't know how to live.

怎麼活一般的開始活著

Nobody is there to teach you,

在那裡沒人教導你

no guidelines exist.

沒有指導方針

No books exist

沒有書本

which say

指引你

how to do this, how to do that.

怎麼做這個、做那個

You are just left alone on an island.

你只是被單獨地留在孤島上

Everything is available:

萬事俱備

Intelligence is within you,

你具備智性

instinct is within you,

你具備本能

intellect is within you,

智力

intuition is within you.

和直覺

Now start moving.

現在開始行動

Yes,

是的

perhaps you may commit a few mistakes --

也許你會犯一些錯誤－

there is no wrong in it,

這並沒有什麼不對

that's how one learns.

人就是這樣學習的

Perhaps a few times you may fall --

也許有時你會跌倒－

nothing to be worried about.

不用擔心

You can get up again;

你可以再爬起來

and

next time you will be walking more carefully,

more alert,

更警覺

so you have gained something out of that fall.

Out of each mistake,

each error,

you are constantly gaining something.

Errors are valuable.

Mistakes are immensely

necessary.

If you are somehow

protected from committing mistakes and errors,

you will never grow,

you will never learn a thing,

you will never mature.

So behave as if you are the first here.

The whole world is available to you to explore.

And in exploring it

在探索中

you will be surprised

that simultaneously

your inner world is being explored too,

because as you explore the outer world

your insight becomes deeper,

your intelligence becomes sharper,

your awareness becomes keener.

And a perfectly fulfilled man is one

who explores both the outer and the inner

and who, at the moment of death,

他在死亡的當下

can have a smile on his face:

能夠面露笑容

that he lived totally,

他已全然地活過

he is happy that he lived totally,

他很高興他已全然地活過

that he burned

他從兩頭一起

his life's candle from both ends together.

燃燒他的生命之燭

When you can burn your candle from both ends together,

當你能夠從兩頭一起燃燒你的蠟燭

why be miserly and burn just one end?

為何要吝嗇地只燒一頭？

When you can enjoy double the light

當你能同時享受雙倍的

and two flames together,

光明與燭火

enjoy it --

就享受它吧

because enjoyment is not simply enjoyment.

因為享受不僅是享受而已

Every joy

每個喜悅

is growth

都是成長

and brings you closer to blissfulness,

並且帶領你更接近極樂

to ecstasy.

接近狂喜

And unless you have attained

而且除非你已到達

to a state of ecstasy

狂喜的狀態

where you can say,

你才能說

"I have arrived,

「我已經到達

I am fulfilled....

我實現了...

The purpose of existence in me

我存在的目的

is completed.

已經完成了

If now death comes, it is welcome.

如果現在死亡到來，我歡迎它

Now that is the only thing

而今這是唯一

that I don't know."

我不知道的事」

A man who can say,

一個能說

"Death is now the only thing that I don't know --

「死亡是現在我唯一不知道的事

life I have known,"

我已明白了生命」的人

will be enthusiastic about death,

會對死亡感興趣

will be eager to meet it,

渴望去會見它

would like to have a plunge into it.

會願意一頭栽進去

And this is the paradox of life:

然而這正是生命的弔詭之處

One who is ready to die, never dies.

一個準備好要死的人，絕不會死

One who is himself ready to jump into death,

一個自己準備好要跳進死亡的人

for him death disappears.

對他而言，死亡消失了

Death is only for cowards.

死亡只為懦夫而存在

Death is only for those who have not lived,

死亡只為那些沒有好好活過的人存在

who have really remained dead their whole lives.

實際上他畢生一直是死的

Death is not for the living.

死亡並非為活著的人存在

The more alive you are,

你愈充滿活力

the farther away is death.

就愈遠離死亡

If you are totally living, there is no death:

如果你全然地活著，就沒有死亡

Death exists not.

死亡是不存在的

Then there is only life, life eternal.

如此一來就只有生命，永恆的生命
