Well, she took the rubbish out of the big bins and then realized that she might have accidentally thrown the remote away in the rubbish. 她把垃圾從大垃圾桶拿出來,然後意識到她可能不小心把遙控器丟在垃圾裡了。 Well, did she get the bag back out? 那她有把垃圾袋倒出來嗎? Uh... no. The bins had been collected by the time she noticed it was gone. 她發現的時候垃圾桶已經被收走了。 I wonder why she didn't tell me. 真不知道她為什麼不跟我說。 She might have been embarrassed by making such a silly mistake. 她可能覺得犯這種愚蠢的錯誤很尷尬。 You know a lot about an incident that might have been Katie's fault. 你怎麼這麼了解很多可能是 Katie 犯的錯啊。 Okay, fine. It was me. I'm sorry. 好吧,是我丟的,我很抱歉。 I ordered another one on Amazon, so it might be here on time to watch our favorite show tonight. 我在 Amazon 訂了一個新的,所以它可能會在今晚我們最愛的節目開始之前送達。 Well, I might just hit you with it. 我可能會用遙控器揍你。 I might. 我有可能。 What does "I might" mean? 「我有可能」是什麼意思? "Might" is a modal verb that we use when talking about things that are possible, but not certain. 「可能」是一個情態動詞,我們可以在談論可能但不太確定的事使用。 You can use it to say you are thinking of doing something, such as, "I've got lots of energy today. I might go for a run later." 你可以用來說你想要做某件事,像「我今天好有精神,我晚點可能會去慢跑。」 Or, you could add "not" after the word "might" to form the negative. 或者是你可以加上「不會」在「可能」後面,就會變成否定。 Oh, I might not go for a run later. The weather looks pretty bad. 我晚點可能不會去慢跑,天氣看起來很糟。 So, let's start off with things that might have happened in the past. 所以我們從過去可能會發生的事開始。 For example, if you've lost your phone ⏤ ugh! 例如,如果你手機不見了——啊! You could say, "I might have left it on the bus." 你可以說「我可能是把手機放在公車上了。」 Let's break that phrase down. 分解一下這個詞。 Might have left. 可能是放在。 This means that you don't know for certain that you've left your phone on the bus, but it is a possibility. 這代表你不太確定你的手機有沒有放在公車上,但是有可能。 To form this phrase, we use the word "might", followed by the word "have", followed by the past participle of the appropriate verb. 要組成這個詞,我們要先用「可能」再放上「是」後面接過去式的正確動詞。 More examples of this could be: 更多例子可以是: I might have put it in my coat pocket. 我可能是放在外套的口袋。 I might have given it to my mum. 我可能是給我媽了。 I might have dropped it in the park. 我可能是丟在公園裡。 Next, let's move on to a possibility in the present. 接下來,我們來看現在可能發生的事。 Something that could be going on right now, but you're not quite sure. 某事現在正在進行,但你不太確定。 Ah! The cake might be burning! 啊!蛋糕可能要烤焦了! Excuse me, I need to get to the oven. 不好意思,我要趕去我的爐子。 Why? 為什麼? Because the cake might be burning. 因為蛋糕可能要烤焦了。 No, the cake's fine; I just burned some toast. These smoke alarms are so sensitive, aren't they? 不是,蛋糕沒事。我只是烤焦了一些吐司。這些煙霧警報器真靈敏,對吧? So, here's how we express a possibility in the present tense. 這就是我們表達現在式可能發生的事。 Might be burning. 可能要烤焦了。 We have the word "might" to show us that what we are about to say is a possibility, but is not certain. 我們用「可能」表示我們要說某件可能發生但不確定的事。 Then we have the word "be". This is the word that tells us that the action is ongoing; it's happening right now. 然後我們再加上「要」。這可以告訴我們這個動作現在正在進行、發生。 And finally, we have the verb that tells us the action with the "-ing" ending. 最後,我們在動詞後面加上「-ing」做結尾。 I might be walking home from work this week. 我這禮拜下班可能要走路回家。 Hey, we might be ordering pizza for dinner. 我們可能要點披薩當晚餐。 You might be waiting a while. 你可能要等一陣子。 Sometimes, you might need to use an adjective in the place of the verb, in which case, there is no "-ing" ending. 有時候你可能會需要使用一些形容詞取代動詞,這樣的話,就不會有「-ing」做結尾。 We might be lost. 我們可能迷路了。 He might be busy. 他可能在忙。 They might be asleep. 他們可能睡著了。 Sometimes, you might need to add a pronoun as well. 有時候你可能也會需要加上代名詞。 That might be my best work yet. 那可能已經是我最棒的成果了。 Ah! He might be your knight in shining armor. 啊!他可能是你的救星。 You might be your own biggest critic. 你可能是你自己最大的批評者。 Finally, let's talk about how we can discuss a possibility in the future. 最後,來看看我們可以如何討論未來可能發生的事。 It might snow tonight, reaching lows of -3 degrees at 2 a.m. 今晚可能會下雪,凌晨兩點時會下降到零下三度。 This one is simple! 這個比較簡單! We just use the word "might" followed by the base verb that you're using to describe the action. 我們只使用「可能」後面放原型動詞來形容你的動作。 Mmm... I might have a salad for lunch. 我可能會吃沙拉當午餐。 I might watch a film later. 我晚點可能會看一部電影。 I might call my dad and ask him to look at the boiler. 我可能會打給我爸叫他來看一下爐子。 Okay, so now you know how to talk about past possibilities, present possibilities, and future possibilities. 所以你現在知道該怎麼說過去、現在和未來可能發生的事。 But there's another word in the English language that is often used interchangeably with the word "might", and that's "could". 但在英文有另外一個字很常可以跟「可能」交換使用,就是「能夠」。 "Could" still implies that something is a possibility, but not a certainty. 「能夠」仍表示某件可能但不太確定的事。 However, "could" refers more to the ability to do something than a wish to do it. 不過「能夠」意思是比起希望去做某事,要有更多能力去做。 Ugh, I'm so tired, I might just watch a film later. 我好累,我晚點可能只想看一部電影。 My new TV has finally arrived. I could watch a film later. 我的新電視終於到了,我晚點就能看一部電影。 Did you notice the difference? 你有發現不同嗎? "Might" is more to do with whether you choose to do something, and "could" is more to do with whether you're able to. 「可能」比較像你選擇是否去做某事,而「能夠」比較像你是否可以去做某事。 You can't watch a film with no TV.... 你沒有電視的話不能看電影... Unless you watch it on your computer or on your phone or you go to the cinema.... Never mind. 除非你用電腦、手機,或是去電影院看。 So, your homework is to write three sentences in the comments. 你的功課是在留言處寫三個句子。 One should be about a past possibility, one should be a present possibility, and one should be a future possibility. 一個要是過去可能發生的事,一個要是現在可能發生的事,一個要是未來可能發生的事。 Bonus points if you could tell a mini-story through your three sentences. 如果你在這三個句子告訴我小故事的話,我會給你額外加分。 You might write them perfectly. 你可能寫得很完美。 If you do, I will press the heart button on your comment. 如果你有做到,我會在你的留言按愛心。 Or you might make a mistake. 或者你可能寫錯。 And if you do, that's ok. I'll correct it in the comments. 如果你寫錯了,那沒關係,我會在留言幫你訂正。 You might see me again soon. 我們可能很快就會再見面。 Hopefully. 希望啦。 Alright, until next time. Take care, bye. 好的,下次見。照顧好自己,掰。
