  • We love doing things with our dog.

  • And of course I've been in Los Angeles for, I don't know, six months out of the year this past year and can you and I Together, we have discovered a lot of pet friendly or dog friendly things to do around the Los Angeles area.

  • So I thought we share our top 12 most favorite things to do around here, and they're all free number one.

  • Vasquez rocks Natural Area.

    Vasquez

  • I have never heard of this area.

  • Crystal found out about it, and when she showed me the location, I first don't even think it was part of L.

  • A.

    A.

  • But it is.

  • Yeah, it's they consider it part of L.

  • A.

    A.

  • Still, it's about 40 minutes from downtown L.

  • A.

    A.

  • Very accessible, though easy to get to and very dog friendly.

  • So they have these cool rock formations there that were developed by, you know, erosions and all that.

  • Over time, the dogs can go up like these 45 degree angle rocks, and there's also lots of cool trails around there that you could do.

  • You might have even seen these rocks to.

  • They're actually used a lot in TV shows and movies.

  • For example, Westworld, the most famous one, I think a Star Trek.

  • But yeah, so if you have seen any of those shows you will most likely recognize these rocks.

  • It's hard to not recognize because they are pretty distinct.

  • The shape and also on the way there.

  • The drive was gorgeous, so it goes by really fast.

  • So awesome, awesome place to go on a little adventure with your dogs.

  • So next on the list is Rosie's Dog Beach.

  • There's a lot of dog beaches around Los Angeles, but not a lot of off leash dog beaches.

  • In fact, I think this was the only one that was actually off leash in L.

  • A County.

    A縣。

  • Yeah, so our dogs love the beach.

  • I would say Kuma loves the beach more than Zoe does.

  • They both have fun.

  • But since coming from Florida and she's used to like these beach dog parks all the time, she really loved this place.

  • And when Kuma has fun, Zoe will have one, too, and I'll run and chase each other around for I don't know forever.

  • But it's a very large beach area for dogs, very well maintained has like some dogs waste stations for you.

  • And then there's also rest and facilities for humans do so very comfortable, and it's right in the middle of downtown Long Beach.

  • Next is Sepulveda Basin off Leash Dog Park again.

接下來又是Sepulveda Basin off Leash Dog Park。

  • This is another one where Crystal found that I'm like, What?

  • There's an agility course.

  • Yeah, I'm all about finding agility courses at dog parks because, you know, dog parks are usually all the same.

  • You know, it's like some grassy area.

  • Or in California's case, we'll have dirt area.

  • And if your dog is like playing fetch, that's fantastic.

  • But both of our dogs aren't really that into fresh.

  • They are more into stuff like, uh, agility.

  • Yeah, I could come in my mouth and we both trained them in agility so they know what they're doing and they really enjoy it.

  • Yeah, so there's three different dog parks here, so they're all fenced, and there's a large dog park area, a small dog park area and attended dog park area.

  • I'm so glad they have that because Zoe is very timid.

  • She doesn't look like it, but she is because we went to the dog Large Dog park first, but then Zoe was, you know, a little bit afraid of the big dogs.

  • So we went to the timid dog side and she was very comfortable there.

  • And all three of these dog parks have the agility courses, the same ones.

  • So everybody gets, you know, the agility courses, which is great because you don't have to fight over them.

  • But, yeah, they have a lot of fun with these agility courses.

  • So we love taking in their Hollywood Walk of Fame is another one that you could do with your dogs.

  • Um, it's free as well.

  • So, uh, as everybody knows, Well, a lot of people know the Hollywood Walk of Fame is all those famous stars with the celebrity names on the cement.

  • So as you're walking, then you can see like, Oh, there's Johnny Dip and there's Tom Cruise, and it's all over Hollywood Boulevard.

  • And basically, when you're walking on the sidewalk, you're just seeing stars all along the street, the sidewalk.

  • So I mean, you may not even know that you are going to be an area where there's gonna be a star, because it's not just one section, literally.

  • It's just miles of like um stars down the street so that there's a particular one you want to find.

  • Definitely look at the map online because there's a lot of them Latinos like over 2000.

  • Yeah, something like something crazy like that.

  • So and I think they've actually had to start using another street because they're adding on so many stars.

  • And there's also outdoor mall there.

  • And some of the shops there are dog friendly as well, because we walked by a hot topic.

  • I believe it was, And, uh, the sales associate came.

  • I was like, I let your dogs are more than welcome in here.

  • You want to shop in here?

  • Yeah, that was pretty funny.

  • And then I didn't realize until later.

  • So that complex is called Hollywood and Highland, and, um, we noticed the Hollywood sign and crystals like, Oh, that's so beautiful.

  • The architect to design that actually did that on purpose so that the Hollywood sign would be framed.

  • They're perfectly so I was like, That's my crystal.

  • Noticed it.

  • Next is like Hollywood Park, and I've always wanted to know how to get to the Hollywood sign without having a hike.

  • And I think this is the best option, and it's pet friendly.

  • When I was doing research on dog friendly things to do, that was one of the things that came up.

  • And even though it's just like this park, it's a really nice park park, really well maintained.

  • The grass is super bright green, which is so hard to find during the winter months in California to its great photo ops with the Hollywood sign in the background.

  • And it's very close.

  • And then you have, like, that nice grassy area on the bottom, so very, very perfect for that.

  • If you want a photo of the Hollywood sign, that's the place to go.

  • You don't even have to hike.

  • I mean, you just park in your there.

  • So without the hiking, yeah, I think you get closer.

  • But if you don't want to do that, you know, like the strenuous hiking, that's the great place to go.

  • Yeah, and also if you want.

  • And we saw a lot of families picnicking.

  • So if you want to spend the afternoon there with your dogs picnicking with the Hollywood sign in the back, and then also if you go, there is a short walk uphill just around the corner, and you can get another view of the Hollywood sign, and we noticed a lot more people went there to take a picture with the Hollywood sign.

  • But if you want a more dog friendly thing to do, the park areas a nicer place.

  • Cherry Canyon Park is next on our list, and it's a really cool area.

  • There's two sides to the Cherry Canyon Park.

  • The more popular one is the one where you go uphill, and I think they call it like the Cherry Canyon motorway.

  • Um, but it's like out in the open.

  • There's no shade.

  • So if it's a sunny, warm day, it might not be great for dogs like Huma, so my dog could not make it because it was just, like, way too hot.

  • But there's another side down below where you can go into more shaded area.

  • We enjoyed this a lot more, and it's called Owl Trail.

  • Altro is very beautiful, very well shaded, lots of tall trees everywhere, and I think the dogs enjoyed that hike a lot more.

  • Yeah, I kind of want to say this is probably a hidden gem.

  • Didn't really look like they were tourists there.

  • It's just like locals.

  • There's actually no parking.

  • It's really just straight parking in this neighborhood, and you kind of go up the hill.

  • And even when we're doing research, this never came up anywhere on the list.

  • So, um, if you want to go somewhere a little bit secluded, I would definitely recommend Cherry Canyon.

  • Among the watershed Park is another one of those places, I think, is more for locals.

  • So you don't really see tourists here either.

  • And I love it here because it's so huge and you get two different sides.

  • You get like the upper part is really shaded.

  • And then the other part is like this vast open space.

  • And if you come here during the winner or the colder months, the sunsets here are spectacular.

  • A lot.

  • A lot of space for your dogs to run around here.

  • We're actually at how, how long?

  • Apart.

  • Right now we're at one of the picnic tables because they have a lot of picnic tables, barbecue pits.

  • A lot of horses go around here, too.

  • They have, like, trails for horses, and that's the trail, the same trails that we go on with the dogs.

  • Uh, but yeah, the dogs absolutely love it.

  • Just be warned that your dogs will get dusty because there's a lot of around here.

  • So next on our list is another dog park, Uh, Fletcher, Fetch Dog Park.

  • It's actually fairly new.

  • It opened in October 2020 and we took the dogs here because again, they have agility courses and they have the small dog park side and a large dog park side.

  • Unfortunately, at the time we went, the small dark park was closed because they were eating the grass because it was getting really muddy and all the green of the grass is gone.

  • So we went to the large dog park side, which is fine, and they still had some agility courses there.

  • But, um, the one agility course item that we were looking forward to was the see saw the teeter totter well for the dogs to practice on, and they only have it on the small dog.

  • I wonder where they didn't have any big side a little bit disappointed in that, but rather than that, this park is pretty cute.

  • Even the benches were like a shape of a dog bone.

  • Um, the area had a basketball court playground area.

  • It's a really cool area if you want to try out another agility course for your dog.

  • Runyon Canyon is also on our list, and you've probably seen this on all of the dog list.

    Runyon Canyon

  • And I will say I was a little bit hesitant to go because I've been before before I had my dog and I was like, Oh, I don't know, But Crystal really wanted to go, and I'm so glad she convinced me to go because I really enjoyed it, even after having kind of like negative thoughts about it.

  • And I came out thinking like, You know what?

  • I don't feel so negative about this place anymore.

  • I quite enjoyed it.

  • You get really great views of downtown Los Angeles.

  • Lots of dog owners, their dogs, my goodness, a lot.

  • Maybe that's what the problem was.

  • I didn't have a dog then something.

  • That's why I didn't enjoy it.

  • So maybe so.

  • Now, if you have a dog, this is a great place to get.

  • Next on our list is a little bit different.

  • It's for people who don't really want to do outdoor like hiking type stuff for parks and want to do more shopping.

  • We recommend the Grove or the farmers market, which is in the same area.

  • It's a really pretty area, and your dogs get to do a lot of smelling and exploring.

  • And they do have a grassy area where you could sit down and picnic if you wanted to.

  • Dogs actually can't go into the store, but they can walk around the farmers market so you can order food while you have your dog with you.

  • Or if you have two people with you, one of them can go shopping and the other can just relax.

  • We have a lot of outdoor tables there, too.

  • And as Candy mentioned, the grassy area where you can just relax and a nice fountain area as well.

  • So next is one of our favorite places is Angeles National Forest, and we just recently went here and went up Angeles Crest Highway.

  • So you go up this angry bureau mountains, and the reason why we wanted to go up here was because we found Snow.

  • Uh, so, yeah, we went in December when it was like a little bit colder and the temperatures, and it snowed a couple of days before we went and one of Candies neighbors again.

  • She has some great neighbors.

  • Um, that told her that there was snow up there, so we went up to a stop called Red Box Picnic area, and that's where it stops up on the hill.

  • There's more stops along the way.

  • You can continue on the Angeles Crest Highway usually, but when it snows, they block it off and you can only go up to red box and bread Box is where we found the snow.

  • I was so excited, probably more excited than Zoe to see Snow definitely wear snow boots or snow pants if you want to really get in the snow with the dogs.

  • Also along the way, they have lots of great vista points, so we took lots of great pictures around there, and they have an awesome view of downtown Los Angeles in the distance and some really great sensitive used to.

  • So if you're into that kind of thing, definitely stop by here.

  • Healthy spot is another one that's not about dog parks are going hiking.

  • It's an actual pet store, and I first heard about them through a friend and we actually met on Instagram through our dogs.

  • She invited me to a dog event, which I was like, Okay, that's I've never been to a dog event.

  • I was just so impressed.

  • They gave me a treat bag.

  • I mean, so many treats in there for Zoe.

  • And then, you know, Zoe got a Bettini, and they have, like, all these tables of appetizers for your dogs is decorated so well, it almost looks like human food.

  • And they had food there for humans to to enjoy.

  • But I was just so impressed by the presentation, and they had photo booths there with professional photographers.

  • I can't say enough about, like, how fun these dog events are and you get to meet other dog owners.

  • Yeah, it's It's great for your dog to to socialize them with other pets there.

  • I always look forward to these events.

  • Um, most of them are free sometimes.

  • Um, they have, like, a donation.

  • Um, but I mean again, like it's very inexpensive.

  • When that does happen, you just like, $10 or something.

  • Candy keeps up with their newsletters.

  • So if you're interested in these events, make sure you sign up for it.

  • And that's our list of things to do in Los Angeles with your dog.
