Today we will look at two common sentence patterns for the verbs.

Advise, suggest and recommend.

Listen to this sentence and decide if you think the sentence structure is correct.

Our lawyers advised that we should not give interviews.

So what did you decide?

The answer is the sentence is not correct.

答案是這句話不對。

The verbs advise, suggest and recommend already indicate that someone should do something, So use of the modal verb should after them makes their meaning redundant.

動詞advice、suggest和recommend已經表示某人應該做某事，所以在它們後面使用情態動詞should，使它們的意思變得多餘。

Now let's talk about sentence patterns.

These verbs have in common.

One pattern they all follow is verb plus noun phrase.

Listen to these examples and pay attention for the noun phrases that follow the verbs.

My doctor advises 30 minutes of cardio per day.

Can you recommend a good restaurant in town?

Jaren can also follow these verbs of advice.

Some of you may remember that a Jarron is the I N.

G form of a verb and acts like a noun.

Listen to these examples and notice that a Jaren comes after each verb.

I suggest replacing that old piece of equipment.
