Now the weekly shop is what we call when we go shopping to go and buy a with the things we need for the week.

So, for example, this'll week I needed to buy some meat, some bread, some vegetables, all that kind of stuff.

So, as Americans might say, grocery shopping, we just call it the weekly shop or to go to the supermarket.

Now, While I was doing this, I noticed how busy it waas.

Okay, it was a Sunday.

This is everybody's day off.

Ah, lots happening.

There's not really much space because there's so many people we can't move.

Now, how do we deal with this situation when we feel like we're annoying people?

Well, just like any other British person, we say, Sorry, we apologize.

We say this too much.

Judging by what my Skype students tell me, a lot of you have a problem kind of understanding when we should use the word sorry or are there any other words we can use?

What kind of situations do we use?

Well, let me just give you a few examples now, and hopefully you'll have a better understanding off Britain's favorite word.

Sorry.

Let's think of some synonyms for the word sorry or other ways that we can say it.

讓我們想一想，對不起這個詞的同義詞或者其他的說法。

So we've got the word Sorry.

所以我們有了 "對不起 "這個詞。

We can also say I apologize.

我們也可以說我道歉。

I'm so sorry.

我很抱歉

I'm terribly sorry.

我很抱歉

I'm awfully sorry or I'm really sorry.

我非常抱歉，或者我真的很抱歉。

Now, Internation can vary with how we say it Depends what situation we're in.

現在，Internation可以與我們如何說它取決於我們在什麼情況下。

Hopefully you can kind of listen to my Internation in these examples, and you might have a little bit of a better understanding of how we say sorry.

Of course, when we make someone sad, usually I would say I'm so sorry.

So that's one way of saying sorry if we've upset somebody.

But there are many other ways of the British people say Sorry.

Let's say we're in this situation in a shopping center.

比方說，我們在購物中心遇到這種情況。

When I was hearing the words sorry, probably about 50 times people were saying Sorry because they were standing on each other's feet or because they were bumping shoulders together.

當我聽到 "對不起 "這兩個字的時候，大概有50多次，大家都在說 "對不起"，因為大家都是站在對方的腳上，或者是一起撞肩。

Little things like this, we always say Sorry, we don't like to invade each other's personal space.

Even if you're standing too close to somebody, you would probably say Sorry, it's just the way it is.

即使你站得太近，你可能會說對不起，就是這樣。

It's an unwritten rule on its culture.

So if I'm stood too close to somebody, maybe I accidentally touch them.

Let's say it's a guy.

I would probably laugh and say Sorry May.

我可能會笑著說對不起梅。

Or if it was a lady, I would probably just say, Oh, sorry.

如果是一位女士，我可能會說，哦，對不起。

But we can also say Excuse May.

但我們也可以說 "對不起"。

That's the same as saying Excuse me, Notice how I removed the E it becomes.

這就跟說對不起，注意我把E去掉了，它就變成了。

Excuse me.

This is how British people would usually say, Excuse me.

英國人通常會這樣說，對不起。

Like I said, we could make someone sad.

就像我說的，我們可以讓人傷心。

We could bump into someone, invade their personal space.

我們可以撞到別人，侵犯他們的私人空間。

Usually it's when we're worried that we're annoying somebody We will say sorry or excuse May now also weaken Say sorry for being late.

通常是當我們擔心自己惹惱了某個人的時候，我們會說對不起或藉口，現在也可以弱化說對不起，因為遲到了。

So, for example, if you're late to something, you're late to a meeting.

You're late to Ah class.

You're late to anything you could say.

Sorry I'm late.

Sorry, I'm late.

The traffic was a nightmare.

Now that's way that we do it because we like to use an excuse.

It's another way of saying Sorry I'm late.

It's because off this now, if someone's in your way, you want them to move.

We'll say sorry just for asking them to move.

So we will probably say, Excuse me, I just need to get through here.

Remember, we're very awkward people.

Now, if you want to be a confident person, you would just say Excuse May.

Now, if we have to ask someone a question and we're worried that we might offend them, then we might say Please forgive me for asking, but blah, blah, blah.

We can also say I'm sorry for asking, but now this is when we have to maybe ask someone to do something or if we're worried we might offend them on my final point is when we're apologizing in emails.

Maybe we've behaved badly in work and we have to apologize to our boss.

Also, we would usually say I sincerely apologize.

Now, this is a really formal way of speaking.

We wouldn't use this when we bump into somebody.

We would probably just say Excuse me or Sorry.
