  • and one where we use a rice cooker for the rice instead

    另外一盤使用的將會是傳統電鍋

  • This will allow us to focus on the rice

    除了煮飯方式不一樣之外,

  • while holding the recipe as the controlled variable

    其餘的配料,調味料將完全遵照BBC食譜唷

  • These are the ingredients. You can try growing them but i prefer going to the market

  • Let's begin by making some rice with a

    先用傳統電鍋

  • traditional rice cooker

    開始煮飯吧

  • Scoop out one Asian measuring cup of

    用傳統電鍋的量杯,

  • rice which is 150 grams, from the rice container

    裝一杯的米 (150g)

  • Pour that rice into a pot

    倒入一個小鍋子裡面

  • for our version we're going to wash the rice beforehand

    傳統電鍋第一步驟就是先洗米.

  • Reasons to wash the rice before cooking are:

    為什麼要洗米呢?

  • 1. Remove starch so the rice does not stick together

    因為:1. 將生米上面多餘的澱粉沖掉, 避免沾黏

  • 2. Remove possible impurities such as dust or dirt

    2. 將生米上的雜質沖洗掉比較衛生

  • And 3, please the Asians and Uncle Roger

    3. 不讓會洗米的亞洲人 & 羅傑叔叔(Uncle Roger)崩潰

  • If you have fortified rice you don't need to wash rice

    但如果煮的是處理過的免洗米, 就可以省略洗米的步驟了

  • Measure one Asian measuring cup of water, which is 150 grams of water

    用傳統電鍋小量杯裝滿一杯的水 (150g )

  • One to one (1:1) ratio is the most common

    用傳統電鍋的時候, 水量和米1比1是最常見的煮飯方式

  • Ultimate Asian mode is to use your finger to measure water

  • Beat the eggs with the chopsticks until smooth

  • Now let's break every Asian's heart by washing the cooked rice

  • It is usually recommended to wash off the starch before cooking

  • because washing cooked rice can make the rice soggy

    因為如果煮好以後再洗米, 可能會導致米比較黏稠

  • On to the veggies

  • Begin with chopping one small onion, cut them into little cubes

    將一顆小洋蔥切丁

  • Then obtain one half of a red bell pepper with the insides washed

    半顆洗淨的紅椒,

  • Again finely chop it into little cubes put them aside for later use

    切丁備用放到盤子裡,

  • Chop two cloves of garlic

    備用兩片大蒜

  • Dice them into tiny pieces

    切蒜末

  • Much to my chagrin, I did not have my grater available

    讓我很悲傷的是, 我沒有擦菜板...

  • so i'm going to thinly dice three centimeters or one and a fourth inch

    所以我就直接把薑

  • piece of fresh root ginger

  • grab two beautiful green spring onions and chop them into thin slices

  • Put those veggies aside and we're ready to stir fry

  • First put in your peppers and onions. Give it a stir

    先炒紅椒還有洋蔥

  • Don't forget the ginger and garlic,

    不要忘了蒜末還有薑唷

  • Stir again, we don't want burnt vegetables

    繼續翻炒, 不要把蔬菜炒焦了

  • Now add in the ingredients that got me

  • but overall the frying process is the same

  • Put in scrambled eggs spring onions and peas

    加入蛋,蔥,還有青豆翻炒~

  • Give it a nice stir

    翻炒~

  • Drizzle in soy sauce

    加一點醬油

  • Stir

    翻炒

  • Although the BBC video did not show this,

    BBC的影片裡面沒有放鹽和醬油...

  • the official recipe does have salt and pepper,

    但是BBC食譜裡面是有鹽和胡椒的唷

  • so let's sprinkle those in

    所以我們還是把鹽跟黑胡椒加進去吧

  • Stir to combine everything then we're

    翻炒均勻

  • ready to serve

    就完成了唷

  • BBC's way of serving is shown on the left

    左邊是BBC的

  • I cannot use a metal spoon because my mom will kick

    我絕對不能用鐵湯匙去盛飯

  • me out of the house if i scrape the pan

    刮壞不沾鍋會被媽媽掃出門

  • Fill the plate with a few scoops

    盛好飯以後

  • and we are ready to go

    就可以享用了

  • Personally i prefer to put my fried rice

    我喜歡把碗

  • in a bowl and flip it onto the plate

    裝滿之後倒扣

  • This creates a cute dome shaped fried rice

    這樣就有一個可愛的小圓頂炒飯了

  • Taste test time

  • I shall invite my mom to taste both Auntie Hersha's version

    我邀請了我的媽媽來當評審員,請媽媽試吃赫夏阿姨版本(左)

  • and my version with the washed rice from the rice cooker

    和我煮前洗米並用電鍋煮飯的版本(右)

  • I felt the rice was too soft and clumped

    個人是覺得飯有一點太軟, 比較黏...

  • recipe, so it looks nice, but the flavor is plain

    所以配色滿美的 不過味道偏淡
