You just heard me use two kinds of verbs to talk about my bike adventure, transitive and intransitive.

Today I'm going to talk about transitive.

The word transitive sounds difficult, but it's really simple.

Transitive burbs expressed actions.

After a transitive verb.

You will find the person or thing that receives the action of the verb.

For example, I told you some friends and I rode bikes here.

Ride is the transitive verb and bikes is the thing, receiving the verbs action, and we call that person or thing receiving the action.

A direct object.

So bikes is the direct object.

Let's look at a few other verbs I used, and I'll show you what I mean.

I made a mistake here.

Mike is the transitive verb, and a mistake is the direct object.

I took a photo while riding here.

Take is the transitive verb, and a photo is the direct object.

An easy way to identify transitive verbs is to ask whether they answer the question boob or what I took what?
